  1. What town has that many internet service providers?
  2. Mid-major Midwest markets are a non-destination. No young, future graduate of an AAU university is dreaming of ending up in Omaha, NE. They're thinking of NY, LA, SF, Mia, Chicago, Boston, and other metropolitan areas. I would support your case for St. Louis and Kansas City, but Omaha?! There's only 2 things to do in Nebraska: 1. Watch Nebraska football and 2. Watch corn grow. And with the recent terrible coaching change, its going to be watching corn grow all year round for that state.
  3. Yeah, and the generation before them grew up with the texting/cellphone, and the generation before them grew up with Mtv and video games, and the generation before them grew up with the rock&roll and broadcast television, and the generation before them grew up with the ability to travel on car instead of horse & wagon. It goes on and on. Every generation has said the same thing about the younger generation since the beginning of time. Olds just like to complain about the young. It's a tradition amongst every society.
  4. Lease options would be awesome...if the damn phones where universally compatible with other carriers. The only great thing about no contracts is the ability to move between carriers. That's absolutely impossible with how most phones only support carrier-specific LTE bands. Is it just me, or have prices either stayed the same or gone up on all carriers, all while subsidies have been dropped?
  5. I'm just about done with this damn phone. More missed calls episodes in the past 2 days than I've ever had before. I talked to Sprint and they have been nice enough to offer me a telesales new 2 year agreement offer. I was tempted to say yes right on the spot, but I do want CA and the new nexus isn't far away from being released.
  6. That's funny, Spotify has ads for Verizon with the "tired of slow.....network.....connection?" message, but I laugh because I'm sure they pay for ads specifically based on IP and I have never buffered on the Sprint Network. T-Mobile has several ads on TV, especially on Spanish language programming. Too bad for them Sprint is not far behind with ad power. At&t only has ads with that sexy, fine little thing named Lily and the new uverse, direct TV,and wireless bundle. Verizon has those stupid ducks. Sorry Verizon, your big2 counterpart has better ads. Lily > ducks, all day. Everyday.
  7. Me too. But I don't really want to have a Vegas relapse. Without the spread, never bet against the SEC. ACC and BigTen have more upset prone teams. And the Pac12 is usually solid. Nobody cares about the Big12. They're highly overrated and prone to lose against stiff competition due to their lack of defense. Good luck gentleman!
  8. Bring back Houston Cellular! But on a serious note, I don't think speculation of future or potential name changes is a good idea. T-Mobile used to have a terrible perception but managed to turn it around. I'm all in for a name change just to see stuff shaken up, but to count out "Sprint" as a failed brand right now is reachig too far.
  9. U.S. Cellular has a pretty good reputation in locations it is in now. Sprint has a bad reputation it has not been able to shake off nationwide. A name change or an image change could be in order once major cities are densified. Softbank doesn't even sound like a wireless carrier. It honestly sounds like a bank's name. They also aren't widely known in the states. Keeping the name Sprint around as a parent company and using a new name to brand the wireless service isn't a good idea. It hasn't worked for Comcast since people still know xfinity was just a crappy way of Comcast hiding their craptastic name. We all know its crappy Comcast at the end of the day. Only difference is that most people can't ditch Comcast for another cable company because there isn't another cable company to switch to. Wireless industry has 3 other national carriers, several regional carriers, and endless amounts of MVNOs.
  10. Outside of using the same color, this isn't a bad idea. U.S. Cellular sounds more like a national name and taking a regional carrier's name nationwide has worked OK for T-Mobile/MetroPCS. The name Sprint has gained an awful reputation and it will be hard to change public perception. As a person who started out with At&t wireless, then was abruptly switched to Cingular, only to be taken back to At&t, hold the wireless...I would have no issue with a name change. I just don't know if anyone else will find it funny that a company named U.S. Cellular will have very little Cellular band spectrum. (SMR does not count).
  11. Mexico, until not long ago, still had mobile operators charge Roaming if you used your phone on their network outside of your home state.
  12. Colorado? Yup, totally west, with the eastern portion sharing similar geographical features of the Midwest. But Kansas? Total Midwest state.
  13. I'm interested. PM me details to join. I believe Thursday has North Carolina vs South Carolina and Jim Harbaugh's debut on the road against Utah. Oh, and Vanderbilt's Thursday game may interest you as well with you being from TN and all. Derek Mason is a loser. That is all.
  14. It actually said 2G for IVR, but Sprint also states that this "2G" is the equivalent of 64 kbps speeds (which is slower than what some 2G networks are capable of). I'm assuming for this new plan, it's whatever fastest technology your phone can connect to in the country you're visiting. Since there are still areas in Mexico and South America that act like T-Mobile with Edge-only networks, Sprint can't guarantee 3G or 4G. 0.20 cents/minute outside of Canada and Mexico. Smart.
  15. More importantly, Sprint needs to keep users on B41 more aggressively instead of dropping them to another band at -117 RSRP. Battery life shouldn't be affected that much if Sprint where to lower the threshold about 4 to 5 decibels.
  16. I hope Sprint continues to honor current subsidies and contracts. My ED 1500 plan is still cheaper than anything else they or T-Mobile offers for family lines. The only thing that came close to matching it in price was Framily, but Framily didn't come with a discounted phone. Non contract plans would be nice if phones were truly universal and would work with a simple SIM card swap, but that's not going to happen with carrier specific phones. Every phone outside of the iPhone, Nexus, and the new Moto X/G won't work with every carrier. Until manufacturers provide universal support for all domestic LTE bands, I don't see a reason to be exited about the demise of subsidized phones.
  17. If I'm not mistaking, Direct Connect had always been free for some plans, but not all.
  18. The sprawling subdivisions of Katy need help. Took this outdoors in the middle of a busy intersection near Cinco Ranch. A distant, weak and overloaded B26 carrier. EVDO faired a lot better, but my phone would only drop to 3G when I forced it to. All wireless providers have their work cut out with strict zoning laws that prevent cellphone towers from being erected and fast growth of neighborhoods in places that used to be cow pastures.
  19. 10 GB is way too much for a company that can't offer reciprocal 3G Roaming to the companies it has reached deals with. The only real problem with these plans is the complexity. They need to consolidate both plans and just offer 1 Roaming option to counter T-Mobile. One of these plans has to go.
  20. So older Samsung phones that were only authorized to work with 5 Mhz FDD LTE, like the GS3 and Note 3, are capable of doing 10x10 LTE as well? I thought it was a hardware limitation. How would Sprint go about to allow these older phones to use 10 Mhz FDD LTE? And if they do, why continue to keep a single 5 Mhz FDD alive in the select markets where they can deploy 10 Mhz FDD?
  21. Vegas hotels come to mind. Even when you pay for it, its still slow.
