  1. I only saw it for the last few seconds, but I don't know how long it had been connected. I did try to go back and couldn't get it to connect again. It was such a low signal though in the first place that I would probably need the planets aligned just right to connect again. Sent from my Note 4.
  2. That makes sense. I'm sure if I'm seeing the beginning of something, it's just due to the previously made agreement with Sprint. Sent from my Note 4.
  3. I'm going to try to find it again. As far as I'm aware, I don't believe they have any towers that aren't colocated here in Shenandoah Co. I think it may have been just a slight difference in down tilt or something that made me pick it up. Sent from my Note 4.
  4. Since it didn't show up on SCP, I'm not sure what band it was. I think they use band 2 here though. Sent from my Note 4.
  5. I'm going to try to go back to that same spot again and see if I can get an active data session. I wasn't able to stop and it switched to Sprint 3G pretty quickly anyway. As you can see it was a very weak signal. The area I was in though is notoriously weak on the far side of a hill from where the towers are. Hopefully others may start connecting where Sprint (Shentel) doesn't have towers and can get a stronger signal. Sent from my Note 4.
  6. http://www.s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4897-LTE---nTelos-(West-Virginia,-N&W-Virginia)-(Shentel-Network-Vision-soon™)#entry440061 I just posted this in the ntelos thread. Has anyone actually connected to another provider's LTE network yet? It appears I connected to ntelos LTE this morning with a Sprint S4T (my work phone). It was a weak signal but I was surprised to see it. Edit: Can someone fix my link. It's not taking it to my post. Sent from my Note 4.
  7. I'm in the Shentel market but since the transaction hasn't gone through yet, it shouldn't have anything to do with the merger. Edit: Does anyone know if this is the first time that anyone has connected to LTE on another provider's network? I don't remember seeing anything in the CCA thread about anyone doing so. Sent from my Note 4.
  8. That screenshot was taken just outside Woodstock, VA on my work phone, a Sprint S4T. Sent from my Note 4.
  9. Look what I just latched on to. Is anyone else seeing this live yet? Sent from my Note 4.
  10. You would be correct for older devices. Many B25 only devices showed signal strength for 1x (voice) and not for LTE. Tri-band devices have always shown signal strength for LTE since they can't connect to the 1x signal while connected to LTE Sent from my Note 4.
  11. Can anyone that's in a B41 area check to see if the spark spinner shows up when connected to B41? We don't have it here so my wife can't check that. I've always said that spinner should just show up when on B41, just curious if that's the case. Sent from my Note 4.
  12. Make sure she's up to date on updates. The original software had tons of dropped calls. They fixed it with a software update. Sent from my Note 4.
  13. My wife just got the update. I'm wondering if getting rid of the spinner was a Samsung or Sprint decision? Sent from my Note 4.
  14. Interesting. Did you delete the cache partition? That would be the only other thing I could think of, unless you have an app that's screwing with your phone. Sent from my Note 4.
  15. Have you tried a factory reset? I haven't done one since I bought it on launch day, but I'm considering doing it. I've just noticed a few quirks, such as slow app updates and such, but nothing like what you're experiencing. Sent from my Note 4.
  16. Sprint will have great service in Lynchburg, but as s4gru said, it's going to take time for Shentel to complete upgrades over the ntelos territory they are buying. I would guess they will start in the cities first, so with being in Lynchburg, you should start seeing the benefit fairly soon after they start upgrading equipment next year. When I was in Lynchburg earlier this year, ntelos wasn't terrible, even with a large conference taking place at Liberty U. I was still able to use data, just at roughly 500k-1mbps. I think Liberty even has ntelos equipment on one of their buildings. Sent from my Note 4.
  17. It'll be good once Shentel starts ripping and replacing. Sent from my Note 4.
  18. In case you didn't know, Shentel is short for Shenandoah Telecommunications. I think the local nature of the name sort of precludes it from being a national brand. Sent from my Note 4.
  19. That's my homeland. I'll be glad to help test it out. Sent from my Note 4.
  20. I appreciate the quick reply. Hopefully there's enough contiguous spectrum to do a 10x10. As I said, that would help in areas that are starting to slow down but might not be congested enough to qualify for the initial B41 rollout. Sent from my Note 4.
  21. Does anyone know if Shentel will be able to add more B25 LTE capacity with the spectrum gained from the purchase of ntelos? I know we already have two 5x5 carriers in B25, but will there now be room for a third 5x5, or possibly a 10x10? If so, that would almost push off the need for B41 in many areas. Sent from my Note 4.
  22. I'm thinking we should probably wait until the transaction is finalized. There are already 2 threads for Shentel though. One public and one premier sponsor only. I'm sure they will pick up once the flurry of activity picks up. Sent from my Note 4.
  23. This is going to be great for my area. I'm actually going into ntelos area tomorrow and it's a pain since where I'm going is right on the line between Shentel and ntelos. My phone keeps going between Sprint 1x800 and ntelos 1x1900 and on occasion I'll connect to EVDO. I can't wait to see how this plays out over time. My guess is Shentel will sell off the AWS spectrum to help fund the upgrades. I'm sure one of the other big 3 would buy it. One question I have though is if this acquisition will slow down B41 deployment in Shentel's current area if they are trying to do quick NV 1.0 upgrades in the newly acquired area. Hopefully it won't but some areas truly need the increased capacity.
