  1. I can attest to "no service" when looking at friend's phones as soon as we leave Pittsburgh metro. I may have roaming indicator but at least I can make an emergency phone call if I needed it.
  2. So I am reading that sprint and other local Telcom companies don't like the exorbitant copper line contacts that restrict upgrading to fiber... Seems like that could have been avoided by upgrading to fiber at the onset of NV. Which I know was a money issue, but still., they probably could have bit the bullet and upgraded then instead of biting the bullet now and playing catch up.
  3. Also required by law to use the spectrum or be forced to relinquish control. I wonder if the lower performance figures are related to the "optimization issue" noted by Sprint in the Las Vegas report. Maybe it could also be more customers using the network - which if true would mean the performance will likely continue to decline until the planned infill sites are fired up.
  4. I agree! One question, as this is an investing forum, what happens to the money invested when a company's stock drops? Like the Walton's lost 9 some billion dollars today...where did that money go, does it disappear or is it conserved but transferred to another owner. And if so who? I have a science background and think of things in terms of conservation of matter - which probably doesn't apply to Wall Street
  5. I think both of you need to expand your world view. Think outside your bubble! So many people could use this service, but you seem to be limited to your own personal experience.
  6. Does this correlate with any sort of slowdown on sprint's side? ... Which hopefully will pick back up with NGN deployment?
  7. Aside from the doom and gloom from Moffett, the article was a good read. Return to profitable business will be hard to accomplish short term as the article pointed out: no company has successfully cut costs, increased capital expenditures, and gained market share at the same time. Ultimately though Son stated he has committed to Sprint in the long term and does see a way to get them healthy again which gives me confidence. Even so I wouldn't buy shares until maybe this time next year to see what effect cost cutting and NGN has had.
  8. Maine, parts of New Hampshire, Outer Banks, NC are covered well by US Cellular but not represented in T-mobile's map prediction. Are there affiliates for T-mobile there too? PS. I would be super bummed if USSC chose T-mobile for LTE roaming since Sprint has been the most aggressive in courting CCA partners and adding B12 to thier phone repertoire.
  9. Happened to me today when I tried to call my co-worker's ATT phone. 1 ring then voicemail...has never happened to me before today though.
  10. What's funny is that people I encounter that say they are from DuBois pronounce it "Dew Boyz" kinda like Latrobe is pronounced "Lay-trobe" and Versailles is "Ver-sail's". But then you get into Pittsburgh city limits and the French names are pronounced correctly - Duquesne, Chartiers, etc. When I first moved here I heard that Western PA is also known as Pennsyltucky as in redneck central which is mostly true - but then again I'm from WV.
  11. To extend this thinking...Sprint must feel they are in a good spectrum position in major cities and other urban areas. Rural is a problem though that 600 MHz is ideal to solve. Perhaps Sprint is thinking they could assist (monetarily) the CCA/RRP program to buy spectrum, have the partner deploy it, and Sprint could then freely roam on it.
  12. Great Post, thank you! One question, have the gigabit backhaul orders been mostly completed? Does it require a site visit from the fiber tech or can they pay for higher speeds and then flip it on like when I called FiOS to get the 50/50 package?
  13. LOL you're rage quitting over something that hasn't even happened yet? I hope no one depends on you
  14. I don's think a major telecom company would place that kind of a bet without some sort of insider information.
  15. For Sprint to make this move so public this far in advance of the auction there must be an underlying motive because it would seem to be the wrong move as usable low band spectrum is finite. They must believe the money required to buy then deploy the spectrum is not in their long term plan. Just thinking here... saying that they are open to a merger with a cable operator and then deciding to publicly say they aren't participating in a spectrum auction might imply talks (maybe glances/winks/nods) with an cable co. who has spectrum that would align with Sprint already, in which case a 5x5 slice of 800 Mhz would be all they need to deploy VoLTE coughDishcough
  16. Ah Microwaves...is there anything they can't do?
  17. My wife does the same thing! And she blames me for the battery drain on her S6...the nerve! lol
  18. So Verizon is in first with 12.9 Mbps down...that's pretty slow compared to Pittsburgh where Sprint came in last place with 11 Mbps down. Also it looks like Sprint's download speed was slower than their upload - congestion? B41 should help with that
  19. The lower case, sans-serif logo, such a follower... Just like Ehrlich Bachman said... “Every f**king company in the Valley has lowercase letters. Why? Because it’s safe. But we aren’t going to do that.”
  20. If only we can get the Pope to visit more cities if only for the better cellular investment.
