  1. Yeah, it would be wasted money for the flamingo. Quick, someone tweet Legere and tell him NASCAR is up for grabs
  2. We can file Nascar under Marcelo's "Nice to Have" category. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nascar/2014/12/16/sprint-will-end-nascar-cup-sponsorship-after-2016/20485383/ Personally very happy he's willing to save these funds. Much of Nascar's demographic doesn't give Sprint the time of day when selecting a carrier, if they even live in Sprint coverage.
  3. It is awesome. To imagine, they over analyzed the framily plan backwards and forwards and weren't able to prevent its logistical pitfalls or see that it wasn't going to attract customers who weren't willing to rep sprint and ride the hamster wheel. Flip side, I don't like flash pan "ending soon!" gimmick, but our average wireless buyer of late has been conditioned to see failure when there are no "fire sale" prices. (Insert: ATT's snatching their 15gb/$100 offer after just two weeks.. Oh Randall)
  4. The promotion is very smart. Its most favorable to sprint to get 2 year contract customers to switch as their aggregate bills for voice/text/data are higher than customers who have edge or next and receive lower access fees. The $350 max buyout also limits the likelihood that installment plan customers switch, if the buyout is even applicable to the payoff on financed devices. Basically, its a lot easier to half a bill where each line is paying $35 or $40 for access than $15. With that said, I suspect this will give ATT and Verizon huge incentive now to push device financing on any contract customer who asks, more so than before because it makes leaving far more cost prohibitive on average. And despite the bold promotion, I don't think it will be any hotter than the last promo after the initial influx it causes. Why? The steps are complicated and the mistrust of all wireless companies is so high. It literally seems "too good to be true"
  5. Go Marcelo!! It really is beautiful to see sprint offer something for legacy plans that isn't a penalty.
  6. Fail? Softbanks not going anywhere. Sold or merged into something else? Maybe. Cmon.
  7. I've seen the same ad and IMO it clearly communicates that a $50 unlimited plan is being offered without reference to a certain device. As far as how the public takes that or misinterprets that, Marcelo referenced the low level of trust that customers have in all carriers in the full text of this last interview. Misleading advertisements are a part of the core of what got us so distrusting. Its become the norm for all customers to trust a provider about as much as we trust a car salesman. The norm? Don't take anything at face value, don't be shocked if its not as it seems. In his interview, he talked about listening over cancellation calls to understand why people are leaving sprint. He very wisely mentions that he's never heard a customer tell Sprint they're leaving because their device doesn't download " At XXmb speed". Rather, its always about data that doesn't work, calls that drop, a network that doesn't cover them. . BINGO. So, he states several times that he's more concerned with building a reliable network than one that is the fastest. If he runs with that, it would be interesting to see Sprint start actually talking about organic network growth in the areas where its needed most. It will be interesting to see how Marcelo treads forward, and more so, what opinions and initiatives the new network chief forms his once he fully understands the kind of network sprint operates.
  8. Part of me believes that if sprint had managed to keep the premier program while still launching the iphone and have avoided the 2-3 "gotcha" price increases we went through in a very short window, some of the legacy customer loyalty would have been easier to hold on to
  9. Exactly, and when sprint has net adds and makes money, these same tech opinionists have a hard time reporting it. And im sure Roger Cheng sprayed the biggest after 5pm load all over himself yesterday. Sprint bait really gets him going
  10. Boohooo. Tmobile doesnt offer contracts anymore and it doesnt seem to be stunting their growth. This change would bring simplicity to the plan offerings. And if they keep bringing us aggressively retail prices on certain smartphones, there will always be an option for the penny pinchers. This would also help evolve the industry as a whole if two carriers went strictly no contract
  11. Where? What locations not indicated on the coverage map? Sent from my XT1096 using Tapatalk
  12. Whats the likely outcome for the ATT customer? ATT adjusts its throttling to be more reasonable and at the same time stops allowing customers with unlimited data to get a subsidized upgrade? How many will keep it? I wouldn't. Too little too late.
  13. Sound like no one should look forward to actually , possibly, using 600mhz until late 2017/ 2018, if ever. And even then, dreaming about it spurring a rural buildout is years and years from there. Who knows what the industry will look like then. Sent from my XT1096 using Tapatalk
  14. Me too. Yearly upgrades for $80 a month? This destroys any of the early upgrade options at Verizon or ATT. Its almost too good to be true for an iPhone user. Sent from my XT1096 using Tapatalk
  15. If ATT & Verizon are allowed to pad their growth with tablets and connected device, why are we so sensitive to sprint doing the same? I tend to expect that tablets and connected devices have lower churn than smartphones, though we don't get the churn broken down like that. I predict 1m+ total adds and somewhere between 500-600k net additions Sent from my XT1096 using Tapatalk
  16. Its hilarious to me that bars, regardless of actual usability or speed, still cause so much anguish for some users. Does it work? Great! Clear call? Great! Fast data? Great! Use it. Sent from my XT1096 using Tapatalk
  17. 3rd quarter results will be the next thing to rally the stock.
  18. How bout we wait until 3rd quarter results are released from the big 4 to compare what they spent on capex?
  19. The only reason it keeps her up at night is because she's thinking about all the money she wishes they were paying her. If she inherited this property, at 100+ acres, you have to ask "what is the lease value of the acreage the tower is using?" Its clearly not stopping the majority of the land from being used for other purposes. Her brother, like many of us, may have been fond of the telecommunications company and saw $1200 a year as a win for him. Who knows. I'm less inclined to say it was greed at the time it was signed. Taking this to the media now reeks of desperation Sent from my XT1096 using Tapatalk
  20. Guys... The 2014 moto x only launched on verizon less than 2 weeks ago. It has been sold out since week one on verizon. Its been reported to be missing support for some of the bands that att uses and also does not support svlte on verizon with cdma voice. It has been reviewed to have impeccable build but supbar battery life. Perhaps moto is less willing or less able to accomodate the diverse compatibility demands of sprint ? Or perhaps they wanted a mint for doing so? Do you really want another device thats going to bring battery life rants and potentially not have full triband fluidity? Give it up. Sprint is bringing us a highend sony device and surely more exclusives on sharp devices. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  21. I suspect DT's statements about holding on to tmo through the spectrum auctions is a result of private offers received which did not meet their goal. Make no mistake, Charlie Ergen will always demand a steal. If DT wanted $35 a share Ergen would offer them $30 or 33 and remind them how "depressed" the asset seems or cast gloom. I look at their holding statements as a refute of that mentality coming from prospective purchasers. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  22. Until ATT or Verizon plan on turning up the data at the $100 data bucket price point, color me unimpressed. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  23. Agree. As with backhaul, I always suspected that sprint had signed the most cost efficient (cheapest) agreement that ericsson would agree to... And unfortunately, ericsson will really bare bones their resources and attention. I know this has been covered here before, but in the southeast where ericsson was responsible for both build as well as existing maintenance, it always implied a conflict of interest. And I firmly believe that even sprint was left in the dark with the kind of response they were given with network tickets and performance. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  24. "Selects ericsson"... famous last words Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  25. I was denied an airrave due to the coverage maps showing excellent coverage, years ago. Calls dropped -outside- . What Tmo is doing with these routers is smart. Motivations for doing it are obvious. While "tmo just wants me to be happy!!" falls somewhere in the order of reasons, its a lower card in the stack than the reasons presented by AJ. And if hes wrong, prove him wrong with fact. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
