  1. Who actually -wants- volte? Sure, clearer calls...but less coverage is a deal breaker for me. I take issue with this becoming another e-peen rat race. It benefits only the carrier Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  2. A cspire relationship that brings sprint customers cspire managed LTE would corode cspire's competetive advantage in its home turf as cspire struggles to keep up with the big 2 and instead finds itself competing with the little 2 more and more. Cspire has only slightly more LTE deployed in its mainstay, MS, than Sprint. Perhaps revenue from sprint and the rural carrier alliance helps pay for a full PCS buildout? They initially budgeted for a 700mhz buildout. The biggest complaint from cspire customers continues to concern their legacy data speeds which is **ding ding ding** a friendly coincidence as they are only competing based on the availability of unlimited, not price. 3. Sure, if Son's vision for success is to become a content provider and to retain the NV expansion projection to provide that content, Dish is a great buy. A Dish buy also squanders the 40% chance of approval of a Tmo marriage. Ergen probably thinks he's worth 100 B
  4. Considering all the spectrum Charlie has hoarded? Dish brings spectrum and unstable revenue from a legacy technology. Why would we want Sprint to have to wage a spectrum screen review for that? Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  5. I guess the cost of a set of beats headphones is about to be even higher than it already was. Hats off to Iovine and Dre for using culture and custom EQ to turn an idea into 3+ B Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk

  7. I would like to see ATT commit to delivering more high speed (either wired or fixed wireless ), affordably priced broadband to a margin of rural/semi rural Direct customers who currently do not have access to wired high speed broadband or are left paying premium prices for small buckets. If the government is going to entertain this, id like to see them use it as an opportunity to further their broadband access mission vs. just letting ATT eliminate competition. 8. Depending on the infotainment system, this could consume a huge amount of data Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  9. Since Sprint just granted every user 6 months of free premium access, I urge all of you who are beholden to pandora or even casually using Spotify to do Sprint and yourself a favor and USE the premium features. #1: Let the app cache data and #2 create playlists and when on wifi or a good connection, DOWNLOAD THOSE PLAYLISTS. Not only saves network resources, but you get what you want without waiting. Spotify's download feature uses improved compression, occupying less space than raw music storage. Even when casually streaming, I observe spotify to use significantly less data than pandora or other internet radio stations. I've been a premium user for about two years and adore it.
  10. I've often thought the same thing. Same usage patterns of another network have actually resulted in lower total usage than Sprint. And like Robert, I like getting what I pay for and believe I should be getting. That principle just fails on entitlement users who want to treat the connection like a wired ISP. I have no problem with Sprint doing this. But the decision is a divisive one. Somewhere, someone who joined the network for unlimited and uses 5GB+ a month is going to wind up on an overburdened site at his place of employment or wherever and be irate because a 1mb connection is suddenly half that much and he was sold something different by a store rep. The continued "pardon our dust" condition of the network in many places doesn't make explaining changes and limitations to this person either. I seem to think the T&C's have always said that sprint reserves the right to throttle, so I'm a bit confused about the decision to announce it and invite the hate. On a slow news day at that.
  11. We have to also remember that Hesse answered to Sprint's board and largest investors who were in fact part of the legacy of decision making of the past decade. Most recent and publicized disagreement was the MetroPCS acquisition. Hesse was all for it, the board killed it. In hindsight it would have prevented some of Tmo's new leverage and also increased revenue. A CEO who does not own a large part of a company he runs is far from autonomous. 12. It appears you have confused me with another member. I have not chosen to argue in affirmative for a merger thus far. My last statement, prior this one, appeared in the Sprint 4th quarter earnings discussion: My loyalty remains with the welfare of Sprint. If consolidation does not occur voluntarily between Tmo and Sprint, there will be other market correction in the coming years. I am a strategist and negotiator, professionally. I am 100% in favor of Sprint making major changes, but does that have to be Tmo? No. However, should Sprint go for Tmo and fail, Sprint will have wasted months of effort and suffer reputational damage and that is in no ones best interest. So, should Sprint decide to go for Tmo, if letting Legere play a mouthpiece role in the new company helps get the deal approved, it is a small penance for avoiding the failure aftermath.
  13. If the clown has to wear a crown to get the merger approved, id say it was worth it Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  14. For all we know, Softbank and 1 or 2 other firms have been bidding on Tmo USA over the past several months. I personally don't believe any of these "anonymous sources" are sharing anything that Softbank or others don't want shared. We all thought Sprint needed financial help, but their solicitation of bidders was not public knowledge prior to the announcement of softbank's acquisition. If Softbank intends on announcing a plan to merge/buy tmo in June and they leaked the info, there is likely already a tentative purchase agreement between Softbank and DT. Also tired of the nextel references and all this garbage about the past. "Sprint wants to do this" or "Sprint did that before" are all flawed statements. "Sprint" is a US wireless operation owned by Softbank. No major decision is made without Softbank approval because "Sprint" is the word on the sign, not the show.
  15. Sounds like Charlie Ergen's day just got ruined. Cant outbid ATT just like he cant outbid Softbank. Poor guy. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  16. Letting Legere lead the company, at least theoretically, is a ploy to quell the magentan coup which is sure to occur as well as help ensure the government the new entity will perpetuate tmo's perceived competitiveness. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  17. Complaining about $30 worth of free services, unlimited streaming on demand tunes? Until another carrier offers better, its fantastic Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  18. I hope you are right. The pricing environment for light to moderate users is very aggressive. I expect that a heavy data user who isnt in a strong tmo area stays with sprint through the hiccups while a light to moderate user who checks his average usage and experiences issues is more likely to churn. I would love to crunch and compare these kind of stats. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  19. I would be interested to understand what the average sprint data usage of the churning customers looks like. My fear is that it is lower than sprints typical metric. Make no mistake, the price aggressions from sprints competitors is playing a role in the churn. Its not 100% network disturbance. I worry that as sprint churns its course through 2014, we are losing more profitable "light to moderate" data users and hanging on to the hogs. The time to bask in the glory of NV 1.0 is also gone. Its all Spark now and it cant wait 3 or 4 years. Hoping we will hear something of Son's thoughts and strategies in the next few weeks Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  20. So we have to ask.. if the headline had read " Sprint CEO's pay is slashed, less than competitors" would that have caused the media or the public to look for favorably on Sprint's network or caused someone to stay or start new service? If what happened carries a negative effect with perception, does the inverse cause something better? Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  21. The pay speaks volumes about the expertise that Son (and the prior sprint board) feel Hesse brings to the table as well as his value to other companies and compensation he may be offered elsewhere. Journalists and spectators can ballyhoo all they want about the prior financial health of the old Sprint, but Sprint is now a mere subsidiary of Softbank and the money paid to Mr. Hesse is Son's money, not Sprint's. Son is free to pay Hesse and crew as much of as little as he wants
  22. All of the commercials have been gimmicky. Blaming advertising for poor performance is an often traveled scapegoat. This "Framily" thing had caused more people around me to talk about Sprint than I can remember in years though. The conversation unfortunately ends with memory of experiences and complaints though. Short of bragging about coverage or speed, I believe the Framily may actually be doing exactly what it was meant to do. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  23. I have a feeling that before the end of 2014 Son is going to demand Sprint respond and retort some of this crass fire from Legere. While Hesse is too calm and reserved to care, we all know Son can have a temper. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  24. The carrier will still ultimately control what we access. Sprint maintains the most expansive roaming coverage of all carriers. This does not imply our data roaming limit is increasing or the roaming symbols are going away. This creates plenty of goodwill for sprint with the little guys though and probably generates even more revenue than some of their individual private agreements. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  25. Perhaps they ordered backhaul long before now?? I struggle to believe this kind of capital investment and increase in network costs can sustain profitability for the magenta without pricing adjustments. It also brings prior pondering about sprints organic growth into interest even more. Right or exaggerated, the more spin and believers tmobile gains, the harder a merger approval becomes Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
