  1. Here's what is in my folder on my iPhone 5 (512 is another PRL I have in the folder but it's inactive unless i rename it PRL.prl): I'm actually running a PRL that puts 1x800 at the highest priority and connected to 1x800 on a hidden System ID on that screen shot. I still haven't figured out where the site is located that broadcasting that signal.
  2. More 1x800 testing this morning, this time in the Strongsville area:
  3. Yes, I understand that I'll have a separate 1x and EVDO connection, I was just stating that when I first had the 1x800 connection I did not have any EVDO connection (1x icon on the screen as well as no connection in the Field Test Mode (Engineering) screen). However I did have an EVDO connection this morning while maintaining the 1x800. I'm not nearly as familiar with the "granular" details of how a PRL works, but have a fairly good idea. Thanks for the additional explanation. I don't track all of the BID or PN numbers like you guys do, but i have a fairly good recollection of the BIDs for the towers that surround my house which is why I feel the tower that was giving me the -68 dBm 1x800 signal was from the site that is 5 miles from my house. I understand those were two different sites which is why I said I was able to connect to two different 1x800 sites on my iPhone 5. I assumed they're in testing based on the fact that A: the BID were different and fluctuating, meaning that towers were being turned on and off; B: the huge disparity in signal stregth (-68 dBm on one vs -99 dBm another); C: No 1x800 towers have been reported near me. You guys are great - I'm not quite sure how such a knowledgable group all managed to end up in Columbus and come together on S4GRU, but I spend a lot of time perusing these forums and I'm pretty sure that CBus has a lock-down on the most advanced collection of experts of any market on S4GRU (outside the Mods of course).
  4. Thanks for the explanation and help. When in 1x / EVDO (non-LTE) coverage, the iPhone 1x screen only gives the BID which changes as you travel around the site (three different sectors). I'm pretty certain the site that was giving the -68 dbm was a good 5 miles away from me. And in regards to Digi's PRL, I was using 513 (Premier edition). When I picked up the signal yesterday the phone was stuck on 1x (and speed test showed that as well), however when I left the house this morning I held an EVDO connection to the site that serves my house while still parked on the 1x800 tower with a -99 dBm. I held that same dBm for at least three miles away when I got to church, and then at some point during church they shut the tower off and I bounced back to the standard PCS band I'm normally on in the area and haven't reconnected to 1x 800 since then. Looking forward to when it goes live permanently and whatever the case I'm excited to finally see some progress near my house.
  5. Quick question for you expert hunters down in Cbus. They've been testing some 1x800 sites close enough to my house that I was able to pick up two different sites yesterday on my iPhone 5 running one of Digi's PRLs with 1x800 at a higher priority: So my question is this, will the Base ID on the 1x800 site match that of the EVDO signal? I ask because there's a cluster of 3G accepted sites just south of me and I was wondering if I could use the base ID info to determine which site's signal I received in my house.
  6. Check out post #5 in this thread: http://www.s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/5225-It's-Out!!!!-(iOS-7.x-Jailbreak)/page__view__findpost__p__268388 A bit of a hassle in that you need to jailbreak the phone first and I'm not sure if it works with the 5S yet, but definitely works with the 5.
  7. Right, horrible in relation to LTE of course. I'm just happy to finally see *anything* within my house. And yes I typically have my wifi connection on, I just wanted to see what the speed was like.
  8. It's here, it's here, it's finally here!!! 1x800 SMR from inside my house! Drum roll please: Speeds are horrible: but who cares, it's the first NV action I've ever seen from my house. Here's the kicker, I live within the Canadian IBEZ - yes, the Cleveland market has some funky exception, but this is still exciting for me! I should note that this is on my jailbroken iPhone 5 running Digi's 513 PRL with 800 at the highest priority.
  9. It's here, it's here, there's 1x800 service at my house!!!
  10. try this post; these instructions work for me on my iPhone 5: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/5225-its-out-ios-7x-jailbreak/?p=257456
  11. Yes, there's no 800 around me yet and finally being able to load a custom PRL has only confirmed it...
  12. For any sponsors out there be sure to check out the NV complete maps, Robert added an update today so the maps now include all towers that still need to be upgraded along with all 3G/4G/800 upgrades. It takes some wind out of your sails when you see the amount of work still to be done in our market, but on the flip side if you're versed at tower hunting it's really cool to see all the towers in the area that haven't officially been turned on yet but that I know have all the equipment installed. On another topic I was finally able to install a special 800 priority PRL on my iPhone 5, but no luck connecting to any 800 in the limited area I've travelled to over the past 24 hours.
  13. Technically they weren't the first in Ohio - they were only marked "In Process" because Nite Snow manually submitted pics of the fiber being run to them. There have been towers with all equipment, cabinets, and even fiber run to them that have sat in limbo for months, even over a year, in some markets before being turned on. With that said, I still feel like the next 60-90 days we're going to see a ton of action here.
  14. Sprint will unlock your phone for international use if your account is in good standing for a certain period of time (something like 90 days - not sure of exact timeframe). As far as domestic carrier unlocking, they will not unlock an iPhone for domestic use as of today, but they have agreed to abide by the direction of the FCC carrier unlocking - the timeframe that Sprint plans to change their unlocking policy however is unknown. This thread discusses this exact topic: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/5184-carrier-wide-unlocking-policy/&do=findComment&comment=252486
  15. Should be under: System / Library / CarrierBundles / iPhone / Sprint_LTE_US / carrier.prl
  16. If any of you are truly interested in tower hunting, familiarize yourself wit the first page of this thread: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3906-how-to-spot-sprint-antennas-and-rrus-samsung-style/# This will give you everything you need to know on how to recognize legacy vs NV equipment in a Samsung market. Once you see the equipment it is very easy to spot in the field first hand. I'd be willing to bet that greater than 70% of the sites in our market have most of the necessary equipment to be flipped to NV, but the reason it is taking so long is due to the fact that the NV and Motorola legacy equipment is not compatible; you will get a hard drop if you try to hold a phone call going from legacy to NV or vice versa. This is one of the main reasons why there has been so much activity in the more rural areas (Aimish country). They're able to turn on the equipment in smaller clusters out there due to the sparse population, but if they flipped the switch in say North Olmsted but not the surrounding areas the amount of commuters that travel through the area that would be negatively impacted would be astronomical. The same is true for other Motorola --> Samsung markets like Columbus and Cincinnati. Sprint learned from they're mistakes in Chicago (a first round Moto --> Samsung market), when they started to piecemeal the upgrades in populated areas the customer experience was horrendous. This is all my theory, but I believe we're going to be seeing some massive upgrades in the next coming months once closer to 100% of the sites in the more populated areas are ready to be turned on.
  17. Just tried, no luck - restoring now. You need Tetherme installed in addition to iFile, so perhaps Tehterme has not yet been updated. No 800 hunting for us iOS users yet..
  18. I have a Verizon jetpack mhs42l by Pantech that is covered by my work; is anybody familiar with how to tell which band it's connected to and / or change the band priority to 4 > 13?
  19. Just remember that Sprint's Cleveland market is far different than Cleveland proper; the entire market covers from Sandusky to Ashtabula nearly down to Wheeling,WV and West to Mansfield. Additionally, I think the 48% completion rate you're looking at is not LTE, rather any NV at all (3G, 800, LTE or any combo). Our market, especially the greater Cleveland area, has a long ways to go but I feel we're going to see a ton of progress in the next couple of months.
  20. I PM'd Robert to put the sponsor to your name - he should PM you when it's gone through. It may be a little delayed given the timing but it usually happens pretty quickly.
  21. Merry Christmas to all of you out there as well. Mrick: as a Christmas present I think I need to make a donation on your behalf to become a sponsor - you've already found a good chunk of the LTE accepted sites just by chance. You'd be blown away with the info S4GRU provides! EDIT - I just sent in a $10 donation for you - Merry Christmas!
  22. I know there was a way to do this, I used to just have the shortcut app right on my home screen but for the life of me I can't remember how I got it. A simple workaround for me is to just use the dialer; since I rarely ever actually *dial* a phone number (if I use the phone it's typically out of my contact list or direct dial from a Google search) I just leave *3001#12345#* as the active number, so even if I close the phone app I just have to open it up, hit call (brings back the most recently dialed number) and then call again. Not as easy as a home screen short cut, but works well for me.
  23. I'm getting this on both iFile & Tetherme (both necessary to swap PRLs):
  24. Yeah, I don't think iFile is ready yet, just tried to push over one of Digi's 800 priority PRLs and phone went to "No Service" and couldn't ##UPDATE# to reset the PRL (would give an unknown error). Reset Network settings, no help. Restoring from back up now, hopefully I still have a phone when it's done. EDIT: all restored and back to normal. Now off to JB it again!
