  1. Full explanation of all Sprint PRLs can be found in this thread: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4085-current-sprint-prls/ I don't believe Sprint currently allows Boost or Virgin to utilize the 800 SMR signal, so I'd doubt if nTelos customers would be allowed; however Shentel has a similar agreement with Sprint and have been actively deploying 800 SMR through out their region (along with LTE). I'm not sure what or when nTelos plans to do in regards to its relationship with Sprint.
  2. I frequent many of the same areas for work, one of which is the border territory of OH & WV (Marietta - Parkersburg) where there are a few sporadic native Sprint towers on the WV side on I-77. The problem I find is that when I'm in a building my phone tries for dear life to hold onto the native Sprint tower, but occasionally it will jump to the nTelos tower which gives a full signal (nTelos SID 4379 vs Sprint SID of 4418). nTelos is recognized as native coverage, but I assume the PRL is designed to prioritize the native sprint signal when both are available. Hopefully once NV rolls through the native Sprint tower & 800 SMR will solve the issue, but until then my phone is basically useless in that office.
  3. I did not need to wipe or restore my phone on iTunes; Sprint simply had to update the internal database to reflect the sim number that was in the phone and once that happened I was immediately able to connect to LTE. On a side note, restoring on iTunes shouldn't be that difficult as long as you backup your phone right before you restore. It can be time consuming, but it shouldn't cause that many issues.
  4. I had the same issue a few months ago when I was traveling through Chicago - I then called Sprint and after speaking with three different reps I finally figured out that they had the wrong SIM id attached to my account (my old 4s was still on my account). Once they plugged in my iPhone 5 SIM number it worked perfectly, could be the same issue you're facing.
  5. I have pretty far reaching info on NV. PM me any specifics i'd like to keep this mostly Columbus in here.Feel free to "bring your talents" up to the Cleveland thread as well. We may not have the same vocal enthusiasm as C-Bus, but we're still watching up here.
  6. I was on the turnpike on Sunday and drove through that area, I'm fairly confident that I saw the Sprint tower that would cover Midway Mall and it appeared to have upgraded NV Equipment on it. No LTE and I couldn't test any speeds, but it definitely looks promising.
  7. I didn't try to go back to 6.1.2, but the website I downloaded 6.1.4 from said you aren't able to because Apple is only allowing 6.1.4 (probably due to the jailbreak). Unrelated to the beta iOS7 situation, a month or so ago I inadvertently upgraded from my JB to 6.1.3 and tried to go back but was not successful. Only go up if you're willing to part ways with your JB.
  8. For what it's worth I was able to downgrade back to 6.1.4 relatively easily. The battery drain on iOS7 was killing me, by noon my phone was nearly dead with moderate to low use. iOS7 is fun to play with (and i will continue to upgrade to future beta versions), but I can't be so tethered to a charging cord at work.
  9. FYI - I upgraded to iOS7 last night and played around with it today, but my battery wouldn't last more than about 6 hours without being in single digits with just standard use. I just successfully downgraded back to iOS 6.1.4 by downloading 6.1.4 and then restoring through iTunes and directing to use the 6.1.4 version I just downloaded. I'm fairly sure you can't do the same for 6.1.2 which would allow you to JB, but at least you have the ability to move back to a stock OS that's not in beta testing. Thanks to Abyss for the ability, I most certainly plan on reloading iOS7 (and future beta versions) at some point, but I can't be so dependent on my charging cable during work as I was today so I thought I'd let others know it's possible if you have the same issue.
  10. Ha! Digiblur, you are such the optimist...but don't forget, this phone was for a 12 year old girl and probably made her the happiest girl in school until it took its fatal bath. I don't know too many 12 year old girls that are mapping out the territories of Sprint's Network Vision progress anyway. Ok, now let's all have some self-control and refrain from the inevitable "iPhones are for 12 year old girl" comments....
  11. My wife's phone spent 4 days in the snow this winter, only to be found on a rainy day which melted all the snow. I thought it was a gonner for sure, but I kept it in a bag of rice for a full week. It still functioned but the battery would drain constantly, only lasted about 6 hours at a time. Used a wooden toothpick soaked in the highest % rubbing alcohol I could find, then cleaned the hack out of the charging port. After a couple days, phone started functioning as normal again. Not that this will work for every "drowned" iPhone, but worth a shot. Worst thing you can do is to keep using it while still having moisture in there, that will fry the circuitry which will turn the phone into a nice looking brick. I will say this - although my son is not 12 yet, but whenever he's old enough for his first smartphone it'll be Otter-boxed to the hilt.
  12. My wife's 4s was having issues during the same time period and I have her phone on 6.1.2 (not jailbroken). She was having issues even when on wifi; everything was coming through on her iPad though which is 6.1.3. I signed her out of iMessage all together, waited about a half hour then singed back in - seemed to work - But could have just been cooincidental. I'm thinking there was something on Apple's end with 6.1.2 devices?
  13. Robert - Cedar Point (if you're not familiar, it's worth a trip to NE Ohio just by itself) is on a peninsula out in Lake Erie; without looking at a map it's probably no less than 15 miles from the International border with Canada. The fact that the tower is broadcasting 800 SMR from within the IBEZ, does this mean the FCC has come to agreement with their beady eyed, flappy headed counterparts to the North? You can see Nitesnows SignalCheck screen shot above for evidence.
  14. Robert posted it here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2695-network-visionlte-clevelandne-ohio-market/page-10&do=findComment&comment=150537 , he said he is updating the sponsor maps tonight and will include them - and it was 17, not 13 sites, lets take credit for everything we can at this point! Good to FINALLY see some real activity in Ohio!
  15. This is awesome news, confusing, but awesome because Sandusky is basically IN Canada! I wonder if we've come to an agreement with Canada and the Use of 800 SMR? I found a document online (posted it somewhere in the all things 800 MHz thread) that looked to outline an agreement, but it was 93 pages long and waaaaay to technical for me to make any sense of....I hope this is a good sign for us all!
  16. Quit messing with us Robert....you're messing with us, right? Yeah, he's messing with us...
  17. I'm not familiar with the difference between the CDMA model A1429 vs the GSM model A1429, but Sprint uses the former while Softbank uses the latter. See this link for details of which model is used by which international carrier & the associatd LTE bands each model is able to utilize: http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/ . There's an outside chance that a GSM A1429 could be flashed to the CDMA A1429 variant, but even if that is possible you then need to have Sprint add the IMEI to their database in order to activate the phone on Sprints network which in itself is a long shot. Long & short, sell the SoftBank model online and buy a Sprint variant here in the US.
  18. "Scheduled completion date" is simply the original date in which Sprint planned to have all Network Vision upgrades rolled out to 100% of the towers in a given market. As an example look at the Chicago schedule, the original schedule completion was Dec 2012 but has been pushed back to June 2013. However, 97% of Chicago's towers have had some type of NV upgrade and 75% have had LTE installed, so even though the market is not officially "complete" they've had LTE on some or most of the market for nearly a year now. CLE is a third round market and deployment has already begun here, it should just be a matter of weeks until we start seeing live towers.
  19. So it took me a few days but I just realized that you weren't actually the one that posted the video on YouTube, rather you came across it and did us Clevelanders a favor by throwing it in this thread - am I correct? If that's the case I don't suppose you'd know if / what other towers are being worked on in the area.....I guess we'll all just have to continue to sit and wait patiently....
  20. If you're talking about the red and white tower, you're incorrect, that lattice tower does not have Sprint equipment on it. The tower you're referencing is on top of the Summa Health Center which is just East of Rt 8 (near the Perkins exit). Its not not upgraded legacy equipment, rather it's a newly constructed tower that meets NV 3G specs. Any further discussion about this should be taken to the sponsor forums because I think discussing details of the sponsor maps is frowned upon outside sponsor forums.
  21. I saw you guys up there - tower on the West side of I-71, North of 303 near the intersection of Carpenter & Grafton. Like you said, it's not complete and it doesn't seem to be broadcasting any LTE or upgraded 3G yet, but good to see there is actual progress here! Are those 1900 & 800 RRUs that you installed? If so, is that site outside the IBEZ or was the 800 RRU installed due to anticipated agreement with our beadie eyed friends across Lake Erie? Any other sites in the area that you're working on?
  22. I haven't had any issues with 6.1.4; however I had major battery issues with 6.1.3 because of a bug with my MS Exchange account through work. Any time I would accept a calendar invite it would continuously loop through as accepted and burn right through my battery (there have even been a couple of articles stating that the MS servers were getting bogged down due to this bug as well). Not sure if you have an exchange account or not, but the solution for me was to delete the account (meaning everything, contacts, calendar, email, reminders, etc), wait for about 30 minutes then reinstall the account. Because everything is backed up on the Exchange server you don't lose any of you data (contacts, etc). However I don't seem to have this issue with 6.1.4, so this may not be all that helpful.
  23. Yeah, my bad...misinterpreted the question.
  24. From the phone app, dial ##UPDATE# then press call. You'll get a pop up message "Starting Service Update", wait a few minutes and then "Service Update Complete" message will appear. The phone will cycle the service while it searches for a signal under the rules of the fresh PRL, then go to settings, general, about, scroll to carrier and touch carrier to cycle through until you reach PRL - the most current version is 51096. This method is just to load the most current Stock PRL from Sprint.
  25. I should correct myself, you wouldn't necessarily be violating your T&C, but many people look for ways to force roaming so that they can break their contract without paying the early termination fee. It's relatively easy to force the iPhone to roam on VZW and there's actually a thread in the sponsors forum that walks through the details. But in short you'll need iFile and Tetherme, then using iFile you can upload the VZW PRL forcing the phone to roam. You should be able to find the detailed tutorials relatively easily online, just google load Verizon PRL on Sprint iPhone.
