  1. S4GRU Sponsorship. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1195-information-about-s4gru-sponsorship-levels-and-how-to-become-a-sponsor/ I don't want to share info I have agreed not to. Maybe someone else can? But, I will say, your claim of 9 LTE towers is so far off base its not even funny. Seriously.. not even close!
  2. Signal strength bars do not parallel data speed. Also, (a big also) Have the towers in that area been upgraded?
  3. Hey Josh, Do you know what frequencies they support? I'm just curious if even the "meh" type phones will be tri-band from here on out. Thanks! Edit: Looks like they may be tri-band. Can't blame em for that! https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=344259&fcc_id=V65C6730 http://ameblo.jp/povtc/entry-11820403587.html http://upcomingnewphones2014.com/product/kyocera-c6730/ Perhaps we're looking at the Echo II!
  4. Regardless of what you decide to think, don't make your basis on anything you hear from a Sprint tech or in a Sprint forum. Both have been proven to be inaccurate and hearsay. Regardless, even though I do not own a Samsung device, nor do I plan to, it is disheartening to hear about this (potential) problem. Especially since Samsung has had great RF performance in their last couple Galaxy S renditions. So, I can imagine your frustration. Best of luck! Hopefully this is fixable via OTA software update. Have you considered a Nexus 5? Its radio performance is admirable!
  5. No, LTE 800 and Band 41/Spark deployment has not started in Phx, yet.
  6. Looks like Sprint's bringing back KD and adding Jeff Gordon to their add campaign. This could be good. http://money.msn.com/business-news/article.aspx?feed=BW&date=20140417&id=17534725
  7. In my limited experience, T-Mobile has terrible voice quality. My sister is a T-Mo sub, she lives in San Francisco, and she has a iPhone 5s. I talk to her about every week or three, and can't get over how poor the voice quality is during our conversations. I'm constantly asking her to repeat things to the point it is embarrassing. I don't have this problem when I talk to any other person on other carriers, with any other phone. This as been the case with her other Apple phones on T-Mobiles network, too. T-Mobiles voice quality is so bad that its darn near unusable. I'm not much of a voice user so, I rarely pay attention to voice quality. But T-Mobiles network is so poor that I can't help but notice. It's really that bad! I can't believe people put up with that crap.
  8. If you're looking for the best data (RF) experience (and awesome phone at the best price), Nexus 5 is the only way to go.
  9. Impressive.. That's a big deal.. way to go! Agreed! Robert, Thanks for finding time to update the acceptance reports/maps even with the busy schedule you're dealing with right now. Says a lot about your dedication. I (we) really appreciate it!!
  10. This is probably obvious but, make sure the port in number is not from a Sprint company (e.g. Virgin, Boost, FreedomPop, etc).
  11. Although every donating S4GRU member deserves a "Thank You," I give extra appreciation to those on this list. S4GRU is such an awesome website; It's been a great place for me to learn about wireless communication and watch Sprint excel in their network upgrades. I remember back in the day when Robert would hold "meetings" in The Lounge once or twice a week and give info on the next market Sprint was planning on upgrading to 4G LTE. I loved it! I would actually cook popcorn and watch the comments scroll down my monitor. It was my Movie Night... Great memories! I also remember the previous S4GRU websites, before IPBoard. One had the top 3 donating members listed on the side of the screen. The top 3 donations at the time was $20. My plan was to donate $20.01 just to be the "king." (yea, I'm a nerd.) We switched to IPBaord before I had the chance to do so. Wish I would have made the jump and donated sooner! I give so much credit to Robert and the awesome staff members here at S4GRU for creating a one-of-a-kind environment for wireless education and Sprint's network upgrades. Sprint has really done a lot lately!! Go S4GRU and Go Sprint! Thank You S4GRU Administrators, Staff and, Donators!
  12. Most here are well aware of the thread, S4GRU article, and the issue. No need for you to point it out. It's not that the phone's cannot maintain LTE connection, its a network upgrade issue (growing pain, if you will) that is being corrected at a relatively fast rate. When the problem was first discovered, it was quite evident that Sprint was well aware, as the necessary upgrade rate increased in those markets at what appeared to be an exponential rate, and that continues in most cases.
  13. It's been well documented since S4GRU's conception that that the GNex is a poor RF performer, possibly the worst of any Sprint device. I haven't owned a GNex, nor the S4 you're interested in but, Samsung's radio performance has been reported to be quite good over the last couple generations. I would be willing to bet you'll see a night and day difference in radio performance and LTE connectivity. That being said, I still think your best bet for radio performance (and cost) would be the Nexus 5.
  14. Happy Birthday, Robert! Hope it's a blessed one and you have a GREAT day!
  15. You got it. The iPhones finally started supporting 1x800 in their last release (they still don't support B41, though). Like you say, its pretty safe to say all other devices Sprint sells supports 1x800.
  16. Virtually all of Sprints phones have supported 1x800 (800voice) for the last several years (except for the iPhone's). HD voice would be cool to know, just not sure if that info is readily accessible.
  17. Wow... looks like that awesome HTC build quality has prevailed once again.
  18. I see. But, If I understand correctly, it can still connect to all of Sprint's bands, and better than most.
  19. Yes, The "Black Sheep" with the best RF LTE performance.
  20. I definitely do not consider them all fraudulent. Sorry that's the way I came off.
  21. Boost and Virgin throttling is probably one of the best things that could happen for Sprint customers, IMO. Stopping the fraudulent users and network abusers is of utmost importance. Long live (legitimate) Sprint Unlimited Data!
  22. Correct me if I'm wrong, Please, but that can take a long time. It may be quicker and easier to just buy T-Mo when you got Son money.
  23. I've never used 3-way calling, intentionally. But, I've pressed the wrong button a couple times and, unfortunately, it worked great. (Not on an iDevice.. I only use Android.)
