I'll go with the Vibe as well..solid budget-oriented phone..accidently dropped mine
3 1/2 feet standing in line at Starbucks to a hard tile floor...splat..no
harm no foul..I'll bet the New Note 4 or iPhone 6 would have been toast;
also great battery life , water-proof to 3 ft down (read :use in the rain); and
the audio/sound reproductions are stellar; using wi-fi calling (new with kit kat) make it a
winner for me; I wanted the Note 4 as I've done w/o a flagship phone for 4 yrs and
wanted the S-Pen..short of that the Vibe would still be my #1 phone despite all of
its detractors on many of the review lists..
Loaded 10.10.1 this AM; fixes a major wifi bug some were hitting;
Running fine so far; heads up on a major hacker bug: RootPipe: allows root access
and machine takeover; 10.10.1 DOES NOT patch this bug, however..Apple
is investigating as we write...
Nope..no yellow in Vegas land on their coverage maps; lots of yellow in LA Basin, SLC I15 corridor
and central Denver..none in San Diego..this is the part of the world I frequent the most..hope
they update the Vegas map soon as it is where I pitch my tent most of the time..
90% of the time my Note 4 is on wi-fi and the radios are inactive; either home wi-fi or via my Zing when I travel..could be
that the Note 4 radios are adding heat especially if they are cycling trying to lock to this or that RF band..
just a thought..as I said my Note 4 rarely uses the on-board radios
Yeah..I wonder since I'm on Beta 6 if I have to do a complete dl of Yosemite or just an incremental off the
GM? 5Gigs on my slowwww internet pipe takes a long time..
FWIW, My downpayment at Sprint was $0; I wanted the phone for $720...not $799..It appears that BB is trying to gobble up
some of the $200 for themselves; have to wait & see if BB really matches the $720 that you get at the Sprint store;
your milage may vary and might depend on your credit worthiness..with the Samsung rebate I get the phone for
$520 off-contract..not bad for such a fine product ...I've waited almost 4 years to buy another flagship product; the
wait was worth it with the Note 4 IMHO
Took your advice!! Looks like I get mine tomorrow...yeahhhhh! Scheduled For Early Delivery On: Thursday, 10/16/2014, By End of Day Originally Scheduled For Delivery On: Friday, 10/17/2014, By End of Day
Grandma: " Johnny, did you shoot my favorite pee-wee with your BB Gun?"
Johnny: " No Grandma, my cousin Paul here shot your bird!!"
Paul: " Grandma, I didn't shoot your bird, Johnny did!!
Grandma: "Someone is not telling the truth"
At the corner of Horizon Ridge & Eastern RSRP: 72; 6 bars of LTE B25; go 1 1/2 miles east to the Target and new
Sprouts store...no LTE..6 bars 3G; go 1 mile North on GV Pkw to Paseo Verde->no LTE..great 3G; go into the
Whole Foods Parking lot (1/2 mile further north)..new B41 4 bars of LTE..go inside Whole Foods 75 ft..no B41 but
fringe B25 at 112 RSRP; go across the street to the District..sit at the Coffee Bean no LTE but great 3G; this is NOT
coverage..this is HOTSPOT..now I readily admit the new B41 towers have just been lit up and they shouuld fill
in these sorts of holes..maybe that's the case now on the strip..most of us locals don't spend a lot of time on
LV Blvd..just saying..
BTW, North County San Diego is way worse than what I just described in Henderson; there are portions of
92057 and 92056 that I actually go to Roaming with my Zing and/or smartphone..not even 3G..my first bill
from Sprint was in 1995 for a hand-held wireless email device..I've paid the price & then some..I want
Sprint to make it..they've come light-years in the Vegas valley in the last year
Actually every place in the LV MSA; B25 coverage is decent in places like Green Valley, Summerlin,
and other burbs but is more "hotspot" like than what I would call "coverage"; what really shines
in the Vegas MSA is the upgraded 3G coverage...it truly is awesome..way better than in my sister
city San Diego where I am at this moment..
I think I've got it...the reason I can't get the $99 price is that I'm not out that
far on my contract obligation (22 months or whatever); it will let me buy it
with Easy pay but then that would be $720 PLUS monthly expenses if I
activated it!! Too rich for me..I'll keep my cheap Vibe another year or
wait until the hysteria dies down with the new devices and Sprint needs
to relax the upgrades to spur sales!!
Interesting, Galaxy...was your purchase for a NEW line of service or were upgrading
an existing phone on your Sprint account? Starting to look like this $200
promotion (hosted by Sprint & Sammy) is for NEW lines of service; it does not
appear that I can get the promotion with a phone already under a 2 yr contract..
thoughts on this? Really , in the end, what I would like to do is replace my
Kyocera Vibe (which is under a two yr contract) with a brand new Note for
$99...right now the evidence I've gathered suggests that I cannot do this; I COULD
get a NEW note for $99 if I wanted to add yet another contract & line of service
but then I'm paying an extra monthly bill..Have I got this right?
Looks like the whole idea is to entice new folks NOT to buy the iPhone 6!!!!
Forgive me in advance..I'm easily confused..If I take my Kyocera Vibe
into Best Buy this week or next and order a Note does the Samsung $200 get
applied to the $299 price you stated above? I get a brand new Note for $99
as long as I'm ok with a 2 yr contact?? Yes? No? I don't want a $200
BB gift card that I have to use buying their junk...anyone out there really
understand how the Sammy Trade-in program works at BB?
Just went into settings and updated directly from the phone..wi-fi calling
seems a bit wonky right now ...I'll know better tomorrow if its ready for
prime time
Great news...hope this means a Kit Kat update as well...sweet little phone;
I dropped mine from waist high standing at Starbucks one day (about 3 1/2 ft)
to a hard tile floor..no problems to date...maybe I was just lucky..I dunno but
I do wonder if the new iPhones & Galaxy Notes would survive that drop..
sheet happens!
