  1. Downloading Public Beta 4 which must be a cousin of the GM you refer to above...Beta 3 was very stale
  2. I'm going to GVR today; I'll be at Whole Foods which is at the intersection of GV Pkw & 215; my Zing should see B41 there if what you say is true that B41 goes all the way from the GV exit to the fiesta...this must have just been fired up as I was at the District 2 days ago and did not pick up any B41....and the Zing has better reach than any smartphone IMHO Thanx alot for the info...there appears to be a glimmer of hope here..
  3. That's certainly better than "you are completely wrong" thanx for the info; I just don't get it; I have an engineering background; if LV MSA is delayed getting B26 because of interference issues stemming from San Bernadino County how can Sprint possibly integrate B41 into their B25 coverage w/o doing the optimizations all over again a year later when B26 comes along; this along with the wimax issues; I guess I should be happy to have any 4G LTE at all here..
  4. I hope so..I remain skeptical..I know of only tower south of 215 equipped with the new panels; it is not broadcasting
  5. Sorry...I live here...I can't be completely wrong (with all due respect to your knowledge & position) ; orangeblues latest trip and evidence suggests we are a long ways from total integration; I've NEVER connected to B41 with my Zing anywhere in the valley here!! I've also not seen any evidence on the Premier Sponsor maps for B41...You need source and backup information that "I'm completely wrong" "..I hope I am..
  6. Sadly, my sense, Josh is that the LV MSA is way behind other MSAs for B41 install and integration: behind San Diego, SLC, Denver, LA/OC, SF/San Jose..you name it.. my additional sense is the old non-upgradeable Wimax gear enters into this equation of LV not being in the top 5 or 6 Sprint Spark hubs talked about in the other thread..Son may be waiting to decommission most of the Wimax towers to get the B41 coverage model we all want...this being an economic/cost decision..if this is true we won't have a true B41 coverage model integrated with B25/26 for a couple more years...just my $.2
  7. Raise the price on FCPX and stop dumbing it down; bring back Aperture at the Pro Level; I guess these are more "Apple" wishlists than just OS X 10.10..
  8. Downloading OS X Yosemite Beta 3 as I write this on my 2013 MBA 11; this is the third iteration of OS X 10.10 for me..something tells me this might be a release to coincide with the new release of IOS for the iPhone 6; Gold master for Yosemite and public release is Oct 22 from two or three sources that I have read..
  9. Yup..I'd bet on B41 (aka NV 2.5) and/or B26; both of which I await patiently for here in Southern Nevada ...good luck ..keep us or me posted on your progress..
  10. Ouch..two weeks of downtime; cannot even fathom that in this day & age! I'm keeping my Zing on Ting for the exact same reason->emergency & travel wifi; I'm not even sure what I would do with 100 mbit downloads let alone 500 mbit or more; guess everybody expects streaming content to replace ownership or cable subscriptions at some point in the future..OK..bring it on..
  11. Yeah Cox here has also doubled for "free" their upper two tiers of internet speeds and rolling out "free" wifi in spots for its customers...something tells me these cable monopolies are starting to run scarrrred!! Cable companies giving out freebees...never believed I'd live long enough to see it...good old capitalistic competition at work here....
  12. What is the process for GVI? Does Sprint have to be involved or just on the Google side of things? BTW, I love how hangouts is working so far..hands down best wifi calling (so far that is) that I've experienced...
  13. Yeah...we beat Denver to the launch party!!! I just wish to hale that we could get some B41 love going here and rid this place of all the Wimax gear...
  14. Good questions, Knarf...it's a lithium battery but I'm sure the Zing does not have the battery /power related circuitry that say a modern Macbook Air does...I leave power on one of my Macbook's 24/7 and once or twice a month I drain it down to "calibrate" the battery; after 25 months I still have 6100 out of 6700 mAh on the older Macbook by following this maintenance; lithium batts don't like going to "zero" either; I guess if I had your dilemma I'd pull the battery for your daily use but then ever so often put it back and let it drain down to 10 or 15 % and then fully recharge; this way when you need your battery on a trip or something you'll have it..
  15. Anyone heard whether or not the Hydro Vibe is going to get Android 4.4 KitKat? The Sprint product page claims it runs 4.4 but my Vibe runs 4.3 Jelly Bean
  16. Josh...all of this is understood and has been explained here many times..my post implicitly was pointing to the fact that 32 million + folks fly here every year to be entertained and to deposit their hard earned monies into our local economy..one would have thought that Vegas would be a tier 1 market for that reason alone..it's the Sprint decision-making logic that I find hard to comprehend...with my thimble full of knowledge I would have imagined the Sprint rollout of LTE and NV to go: New York msa, LA msa, Las Vegas msa, SF-San Jose msa...these are the areas of highest economic dynamics and output...sitting here scratching my head
  17. I'm certain that it's been posted before but it is worth stating again how ironic it is that the entetainment & gambling center of all the MSAs iinthe whole country will be one of the very last markets to be launched! The logic of this to me is nothing less than stupefying and defies even a modicum of common sense for Sprint..
  18. Just curious..how does the Clearwire antenna (presumably 2.5 Ghz) handle B25 which is at 1900Mhz? Does this antenna handle multiple bands of RF?
  19. Hot stuff with the antenna; I'd like to get some specs for your outdoor setup if it's not too much of a problem; your RS-SINR value went from -5 to 16...remarkable improvement in signal quality; your RSRP value improvement really amazes going from -110 to -77; AJ might weigh in here but I've never seen such a signal improvement with just an antenna; does the Clearwire gear amplify the signal somehow?
  20. #5: I tried the cradle and sent it back; too hard to connect; little to no signal improvement; cheaply made and not worth the expense #2: Trial & error for me locating my "hot spot" in my house; I've located a spot about 8 ft off the ground level pointing the wide direction of the Zing directly at a known location of a radio head on a tower 2 miles from me; I get B25 at an RSRP level of between -87 and -92; not LOS to the tower; I typicvally get 15 to 19 mbps down; I send the Zing RF to a Pepwave SOHO Surf router which is across the house and make ethernet & wireless connections off of the pepwave; I DO NOT use the Zing, however, to stream videos as I'm on a budget and it's caps are small; (the one exception is about once a month I use it to Skype with my granddaughter (which can eat 1/4 of my cap in 30-35 minutes) otherwise its web browsing; right now my pings are in the 50 ms range and I'm a happy camper with this setup; yet to see B26 or 41 in the LV MSA so don't have any experience with how this device hands off to the other bands; I will say that it is very fast to lock to LTE from 3G and has exceptional RF permormance relative to a smartphone
  21. It's like your toaster..an appliance..it's just there when you are ready..you just have to have a modicum of networking savvy to get working with it..
  22. Also downloaded the Beta 2 update; Beta 1 was very stable and I noticed significant battery life improvement over Mavericks with my 2013 MBA 11; Beta 2 so far has been great and fixed a couple of pesky problems I was having with Safari & iBank5
  23. Showing my ignorance here but with a sim unlock I potentially could use the Sprint Zing on the Verizon network?? I wonder why I would incur that expense?
  24. I've had the Vibe now for some time and continue to like it very much; for me it is a wifi device--data only phone..no cellular contract.. great second phone for our family
  25. Spent first two weeks in Oceanside (zips 92057 & 92056); Sprint LTE AND 3G were absent totally; was on roaming 3G most of the time; so some parts of SoCal not so much; East SD county rocks well with LTE but North SD county not nearly as good as MOST of the LV Valley and LV is not even a launched market!!
