  2. With a really strong signal, it can be up to 37.5Mbps DL and 15Mbps UL. 20-25Mbps speeds are common. If you have less than 10Mbps, then you likely have a weak LTE signal. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  3. Raleigh is definitely one of the worst Sprint markets. Fortunately for you all, work is under way now. Can't go back in the past. All we have is the present. And presently, work is underway. Legacy sites may even get worse before it gets better. But the end of your terrible network is nigh. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  4. If there was a fast and economical way to run their own fiber to their own sites, it would be so. But alas, there is not. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  5. Now that is a worthy wish. Blessings. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  6. I sometimes can get 10Mbps down with signal as weak as -110dBm. And you will not likely be able to keep a -110dBm signal outdoors when you head inside. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  7. Their backbone is not directly connected to their 38,500 sites. And it would cost billions and take years to try and connect them now. Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  8. If you aren't using WiMax in Vegas, life sucks. At least until LTE arrives in 2013. Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  9. Don't be discouraged yet. Number 1, speeds will not go up yet if they are just starting work. Number 2, AT&T hates small rural towns and is not likely going to upgrade your site any time soon. When you get a chance, take some pics. We will be able to identify for you Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  10. VZW has been upgrading its EVDO backhaul for the past two years, not to mention they also have been adding additional EVDO carriers as needed. Sprint allowed its 3G network to get overwhelmed by all these unlimited data hogs while expecting Clearwire to come through with 4G WiMax to help relieve the burden from the 3G EVDO network. And once it was apparent that Clearwire was not going to be deploying anymore WiMax (or even properly maintaining the current WiMax network where deployed), Sprint was already knee deep in Network Vision/LTE planning and starting deployment. When you are starting Network Vision, you don't go invest billions on upgrading the legacy network that is about to be ripped out. So they have piecemealed some band aid 3G fixes to limp into Network Vision. Network Vision is the fix for Sprint's network problems. They cannot go back and change the past now. Hindsight is always 20/20. Given their financial position at the time, the was the best course of action to take. But Clearwire and the 4G WiMax offload solution failed miserably and never delivered as promised. Otherwise, if we all had a good 4G WiMax network to carry us, waiting on LTE and 3G upgrades would have been much easier. Robert
  11. Samsung was able to get the GS3 to Jelly Bean by the time LG could even get the Viper to ICS. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  12. I'm amazed by the irony of your response. Flabbergasted. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  13. We waited a long, long time for an ICS update to the Gingerbread LG Viper. And ICS was promised soon when it started to sell. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  14. I'm pretty certain my VZW site is backhaul limited. It never goes above 20-21Mbps DL. Even at 2AM when I am likely the only one on my sector in my rural area. My VZW site is MW fed. I have never been able to figure out where the radome is connected to. It's pointed at Los Alamos. But that is a good 13 air miles away. And there is nothing in between that I've ever been able to figure. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  15. I have a Windstream fiber easement across my property. But I can only get DSL that maxes out at 12Mbps DL/768kbps UL. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  16. Fiber is not a public resource. It is all private owned. Sprint cannot just tap into any nearby fiber line. Sprint contracted out all the backhaul to dozens of vendors nationwide. A company won the backhaul bid for the tower you are referring to. Sprint gave them performance criteria that the company must meet, including speed, latency, down time and scalability for future upgrade. The company that won can then deploy whatever backhaul makes sense for the location. As long as it meets the performance requirements and scalable for more in the future. It can be direct fiber, indirect fiber, AAV, or microwave. If the fiber nearby is owned by a company that has unreasonable terms then they will persue AAV or MW for backhaul. Adjacency of fiber is no guarantee it can or will be used. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  17. Well said. Thanks for beating me to the punch. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  18. They are upgrading each site the moment it is ready. Once the backhaul is in place and ready, permitting is complete and equipment is delivered, they run right over to the site and get started. So its hard to say when any specific site in any specific community is being upgraded. Fortunately you are in an active deployment market. They will keep working and more and more sites will go live every week. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  19. It varies. But Samsung seems to be the fastest. And you're in a Samsung market. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  20. No. The 3G network is overloaded at legacy sites. Backhaul is antiquated T1's and the airlinks are often saturated. Sprint needs to completely overhaul their network. Which is exactly what they are doing. Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  21. Most NV backhaul is AAV, with a mix of fiber and MW making up the rest. Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  22. You will likely not see relief until Network Vision gets under way in your area. Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  23. scary incident Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  24. I have a love/hate thing for Amarillo. It's not quite Texan...it's not quite New Mexican. Almost feels Midwestern, with a Texas twang yet you can still get it all covered with red or green chile. But you can get a 72 oz steak and their stock went up when they decided to bring Brian Regan to town. Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  25. You have a very weak signal then. That's why the speeds are low and why the EVO LTE will not pick it up. It has weaker LTE radio performance. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2040-bars-lie-for-lte-signal-strength-how-to-determine-your-actual-lte-signal-strength/ Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
