And using different servers on the Speedtest app will produce varying results as well. And using Sprint, usually different servers are better for 3G EVDO than 4G WiMax than 4G LTE. It takes some hunting around to find the ideal speed test servers for your technology and location. Robert

Site ID's and addresses are on Sponsor maps. There is a disclaimer underneath Sponsor maps that says that the content on them is not allowed to be discussed outside of Sponsor forums. This is a public forum. In the future, a post like this needs to be in the Sponsor section. Thanks. Robert

Sprint has been actively working in the major cities for over 9 months, including New York City. These very large markets have 500-1200 sites. They take much longer to convert to Network Vision. Smaller cities can be converted much faster. I almost think you would prefer that Sprint not launch cities that are ready because New York, DC and wherever aren't ready yet. And that would be ridiculous. At least Sprint is turning on sites as they are ready in the larger markets. There is LTE available in a lot of large unlaunched markets. And more and more coverage gets added to these cities every week. Robert

When it comes to "In Progress" sites in the NV Sites Complete map, about half are from sources and half are from members. And only a fraction of the actual In Progress sites around the country are shown. Maybe 10% or so would be my guess. If I learn about a site in progress, I mark it on the maps. Robert

Thanks for the warning. We had a member in Puerto Rico report the same problem with the GNex before. Robert

There are two sites in the Watkinsville area that have 4G LTE complete. You can see them in our Sponsor maps section. Robert

Some legacy sites have AAV backhaul and can produce speeds greater than 1.5Mbps. You may have found one. We have two in Santa Fe, New Mexico that were upgraded in the past few months that can get over 2Mbps at off peak times now. Robert

Glad to have you around S4GRU. You should consider becoming a S4GRU Sponsor. You get access to all of our Sponsor forums and content, as well as the weekly Network Vision maps update. We have recently started adding In Progress sites as well where we get info. Robert

There is no pattern to deployment. They have subcontractors chomping at the bit, ready to go. They jump on the very next site ready, no matter where it is. Before they can begin upgrading a site, the site has to have backhaul complete and ready, equipment delivered and permits obtained. The second everything is ready at a site, the subcontractors are dispatched to start work...no matter where in the market it is. It's better to keep those guys working than to make them wait for a more choice site to come open. Also, permit requirements are much less in rural areas (if at all). Sometimes this also attributes to more rural locations getting upgraded first. Robert

I have moved your post here, as this is the most appropriate place for it. The WiMax in Tucson is not a normal deployment, but they are Protection SItes. For more info about what a WiMax Protection Site is, you can read here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/6-what-are-protection-sites/ Also note that at the network.sprint.com site, it does not differentiate between the different data speed upgrades. For instance, some of the data speed upgrades shown are Network Vision backhaul for NV 3G and LTE. If the data speed upgrade shown on the map is for Network Vision upgrades, then you would not see the benefits of these on the legacy network. Network Vision is just about to begin in the Tucson/Yuma market. Probably in the next 30-60 days. So these mysterious Data Speed Upgrades are good news and these will likely be the first sites to start going live when NV begins. In the short term, Sprint 3G may even get worse, at it is often darkest before the dawn. But the Tucson area is about to start Network Vision. Robert

Get its act together? Because they cannot deploy LTE in all markets at once, they do not have their act together? At S4GRU, we do not allow comments like these to go unresponded to. We are not Engadget. There has to be a deployment order. And Sprint is planning to be largely done by the end of 2013, including Hawaii. And until they get to Hawaii in a few months, at least there is a WiMax network to use. If Sprint doesn't meet your needs, that is fine. You have to do what is the best for your circumstances. But the mere fact that Sprint has not started in Hawaii yet does not signal failure. Sprint was the first to deploy 4G in Hawaii, and it will not be the last to deploy LTE. Robert

You? You must be confused. We are not Sprint. Please stop with these comments. They are not productive and show you do not understand the complexities of the Network Vision deployment. There are three OEMs and dozens of regional subcontractors handling the deployment. They cannot pull off a regional subcontractor in Puerto Rico or Oklahoma to work on your market. It doesn't work that way. Robert
