  1. LTE Advanced is just LTE, that happens to support additional MIMO, carrier aggregation and a few other minor items. The day your local site gets LTE Advanced, you will likely not see any difference whatsoever. Until devices are built that support greater than 2x2 MIMO or carrier aggregation, there will likely not be any performance difference. And these will likely be deployed on tablets first, where they have more room for additional antennas. There will be no increase in ping speeds either with LTE Advanced. It uses the same airlink technology and the same backhaul from the site. I think LTE Advanced is much ado about nothing really. Sprint will upgrade their sites via software updates, and nothing will change. Not until Sprint either deploys carrier aggregation, or devices come out that support 4x4 MIMO or CA, nothing is really going to change. Robert
  2. The GS3 does SVDO and SVLTE, but the Note 2 only does SVLTE. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  3. Only markets under deployment or starting deployment are listed. The reason there are TBD's is because there is no dates yet of first LTE sites, anticpated launch or anticipated completion. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  4. Not in this initial wave. Just Terre Haute and Quincy. But I think this will change rapidly. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  5. Not even close: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/212-network-visionlte-deployment-running-list/ Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  6. The information from a trusted source. I do not have the Site ID of the live site yet. He said he would send it tonight or tomorrow. I will post it as soon as I know which one it is. I figured you guys wanted to know what I know and when I know it. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  7. Picked up a new source today. They provided me a list of Missouri, Central Illinois and East Iowa sites that are on a site dispatch report. I will be marking the sites In Progress later tonight when I get home. Robert
  8. There is no way to know for certain, except to go in your LTE Engineering screen, log the Cell ID and drive around logging Cell ID locations. Each of the three sectors from a site have a different Cell ID. With quite a bit of work of driving and logging, you can likely figure it out based on our Sponsor maps. There are no apps that will show you which LTE site you are connected to. If you give to me the nearest cross streets to your location and the RSRP in your LTE Engineering screen, I can probably give you good guess though where you are connected. You should consider becoming a S4GRU Sponsor. The maps we provide are invaluable. Robert
  9. Deployment started in the beginning of December. It will likely be another 45-60 days before the first sites start to go live with LTE. Once they start going live, more and more will go live weekly until the whole county is complete. Robert
  10. The bars on Sprint Android LTE devices do not show LTE signal strength, but your 1x voice signal strength. You likely had a very weak LTE signal. For more info: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2040-bars-lie-for-lte-signal-strength-how-to-determine-your-actual-lte-signal-strength/ Robert
  11. I just got word that the site on the roof of the Tampa Airport Marriott is in progress. Do you get your signal from there? I will add it to the next map update. Robert
  12. This seems to be consistent with I'm hearing anecdotally. That the EVO LTE connectivity issues seem to be solved. That the EVO can now pick up a connection mch easier and faster than before, as well as keep it much easier. It does seem from what I've read that is not a stellar LTE RF performer, but definitely still more than sufficient. I can't wait to take the EVO out for a spin in an LTE area for my own testing. 14. I don't think that DISH can deploy AWS-4/S-Band on Clearwire base stations, not to mention definitely not on the panels. They are not multi-modal. Many Clearwire sites do not have room for additional panels, as they are mounted directly to the monopole for each sector. It's a very hodge-podge network setup. Clearwire cannot even deploy LTE on all their base stations/panels. Only the ones deployed since early 2010. The 2008-2009 WiMax sites need to be replaced in order just to accommodate TD-LTE 2600 on them. There is not much value to the current Clearwire network. It's Frankennetwork. It really is good for only WiMax on 2600 and some TD-LTE on 2600. Any further upgrade to add AWS-4/S-Band LTE is just not worth the cost and difficulty. If DISH wants to go with an easy, fast and cheap route to deployment, Sprint network hosting is the only way to go. And SoftBank may not even want to do hosting deals. Sprint wanted to do it for money. SoftBank doesn't need the money. Robert
  15. I just heard from one of my sources that there is now one site live in the New Orleans market. I should get the site ID from him later today or tomorrow. Stay tuned. But until then, keep searching for LTE signals. You may find it before I post it! Robert
  16. Work has already begun in the Riverside/San Bernardino market (which covers the Inland Empire). But it will still be a few months before LTE starts lighting up. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  17. I think it's a possibility. But if no spectrum goes with it, I'm not sure Dish would want it. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  18. Not likely. They made the site a stealth site for a reason. Probably to appease a property owner, community group, CC&R's, a municipal/county planning review or even possibly local ordinance. So they are not likely able to surface mount RRU's. And they may need three or four per sector. Meaning they may have to surface mount 9-12 RRU's to the pole. I don't see that happening. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  19. Most likely. There is nowhere to mount RRU's at a stealth flagpole site. About 10% of NV sites will not get RRU's for varying reasons. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  20. Upon further review, the second picture shows a larger panel. Whereas the first picture shows two panels above/below each other. I think the larger panel is a NV panel. I think you have documented an In Progress stealth site. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  21. They have removed the sheath over the panels. A good sign they are doing work. This looks like it will have to be a hot swap. Also, probably no RRU's at this site. With this site, you may not be able to tell much is going on until it just goes live one day. Keep us posted. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk

  23. I have no interest in VoLTE the way things are currently. I'd rather have good voice coverage at the current good Spring voice quality than to have reduced voice coverage and higher quality voice. Does anyone even use their voice much anymore? Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
