  1. This is warped. Why would someone do this when there is so much perfectly good fried chicken in the world?? Robert
  2. It varies. The wall type and roof type both matter, to varying degrees. If your site is close by, is tall and has severe downtilt...then roof type is more important than wall type. If the site is pretty far away, or low to the ground, then wall type is more important. Typically, wood frame is the best wall type, with wood siding. Metal frame with metal siding is bad. Wood frame with stucco is usually bad too. Concrete/CMU (cinder block)/Masonry (brick) are really bad. Adobe is the worst. With roof types, wood shingles is the best. Asphalt shingles is worse, but not too bad. Metal roofing is bad or very bad. Concrete tile/Spanish tile are very. very bad. And commercial metal roof deck on steel joists and girders (think big box stores) is the worst. Also of concern is windows. The more windows, and the larger the windows, the better for RF getting into the building. Unless you have very high performance glass like LO-E and LO-E2, or other equivalents. They block RF very well. Robert
  3. Minnesota will be one of the earlier markets for LTE Band 26 (800MHz). And also since Minneapolis has a fuil WiMax network, it is likely going to see LTE Band 41 (TD-LTE 2600MHz) before the end of the year too. I think that Sprint in Minnesota will be a very good place to be in 6 months for Triband device holders. But that would mean a device upgrade would be required for you. Robert
  4. Don't get AJ started on Minnesota. It brings back traumatic memories of how he would rib Scott! Robert
  5. I completely agree. I stopped buying phones in the Spring. And now we are so close to triband, it would be crazy to buy a subsidized phone on contract right before Triband LTE devices start selling. Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk

  7. This is the best point you've ever made. How useful is 100MB of LTE roaming? Robert
  8. I would live in Oklahoma...for the right pay rate. Know any government agencies hiring construction managers? Robert EDIT: I did look at a job with the Oklahoma Historical Society managing their projects. However, I missed the closing date of the job by one day! DOH!
  9. I go back to EVDO-A all the time for short periods. However, I've never had it be only on one specific site. When I revert back to EVDO-A, it will stay that way on any site I go to, until I reboot. When this happens to me though, most of the time I think it's a device issue. The device gets hung up on EVDO-A in lieu of eHRPD. Because most of the time I look at the other devices in my house, they are still on eHRPD. And vice versa. Lots of times my wife's LGOG will revert to EVDO-A and my Note 2 is on eHRPD. And I have verified by PN that we are both connected to the same site. The one in our yard. Robert
  10. As most of you know, I have a Sprint/Verizon/Tmo/Cricket/Commnet site right next to my house. The tower is 250' tall, and if it fell the right direction it would hit my house. It has been all good living so close to the site. No downside whatsoever. If I ever move, I want to be within 500' - 750' of a site. Robert
  11. to S4GRU! I'm originally from North Florida, so I will also root for the Jags... Robert
  12. Note that even when accurate, NetMonitor only shows which 1x site you are connected to. Not the 3G EVDO or LTE site. Robert
  13. I always wanted to eat Flava Flav's Fried Chicken! But sadly, it is now defunct. Robert
  14. The RRU's in Denver looked different than Samsungs Robert
  15. The entire Sprint network has been eHRPD enabled now. Even on legacy sites. Is it just one site that you don't have eHRPD, or is it all of them? It could be that eHRPD is down in your area. Or it could be your device is not set in LTE mode. Or it could be a problem with your device. Robert
  16. 229 to be exact, in the Winston/Salem Sprint market. Robert
  17. That number is not even close to realistic. That would mean that they would hire 3 people for each site upgrade. They would upgrade the site in a week, and then what? They get fired? Whomever you talked with is full of $#!+ Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk
  18. They are actively working in the Dakotas market. The first five sites were physically complete last week. They are working all over the market. LTE will go live at each upgraded site as new backhaul is installed. The first LTE site will probably go live in the next few weeks. Samsung is the most aggressive Network Vision OEM of them all. To see what to look for on your local Sprint towers for upgraded equipment, check out this thread: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3906-how-to-spot-sprint-antennas-and-rrus-samsung-style/ Over in the Sponsor section of S4GRU we show maps of all Sprint sites and the ones that have had Network Vision upgrades accepted. 20. We are at 19 sites with 4G LTE accepted in the Winston Salem market, and no signs of stopping. I think this was a misunderstanding. Most likely there were 14 sites that were ready at the time the guy talked to you, and the market would complete sometime around the first of the year. Deployment is continuing to progress. And that's a good thing. Thanks for passing on the information you received though. I do appreciate it. Robert
  21. I believe the free upgrade offer from WiMax to LTE devices is for customers who have been directly affected by any WiMax shutdowns. I believe Sprint will leave WiMax up in many markets, however, in some markets Sprint will want to deploy TD-LTE in a specific place, and if WiMax cannot be shunted to another frequency they may shut down that market's WiMax. Also, there may be markets where the vendor cannot supply a dual LTE/WiMax radio head. They may just elect to shut down those WiMax markets too and install TD-LTE only RRU's. Robert
