  1. It is a 20MHz TDD carrier. Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk
  2. They all are official Sprint acceptance reports with the exception of a few CDMA 800 sites submitted by staff. We do not get CDMA 800 acceptances from the same source. We get that data less frequently. Accepting CDMA 800 reports from our members is problematic, so we have not opened it up publicly. 800MHz can be strong for long distances, even over adjacent sites, that it can cause a lot of false positives if you were not a very seasoned veteran that knows their markets PN numbers. So far, only AJ and Rickie have provided CDMA 800 locations in Kansas and Missouri. The rest are from reports. I imagine that when they start popping up in Louisiana, Digiblur will also join the fray. And perhaps Ian in Central Texas (and all of his destinations). I have a source working on a complete list of CDMA 800 sites accepted to date, so I can clean up the maps. Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk

  4. For me, the success rate is about 50% for seamless handoff to eHRPD from LTE. On both Verizon and Sprint. It also seems to vary from vendor and device. For instance, my Note 2 seems the worst at seamless handoffs. The LGOG seemed to have a higher success rate. Also, it seems Ericsson markets in Texas/Oklahoma/Missouri/Kansas were better for handoffs than Samsung was for me in Colorado. It's not an exact science. It also depends on the application you are running during the handoff. Some are more forgiving than others. So eHRPD allows seamless handoffs, it doesn't create an exacting condition to always have seamless handoffs. It's much better than going straight to EVDO from LTE. But it is a painful migration going from EVDO to LTE, and eHRPD only slightly lessens the pain. Soon with Triband and the onset of LTE 800, the drops to eHRPD are going to be less and less of an issue. LTE 800 should have a slight propagation improvement over the best CDMA 1900. So this problem will slowly go away. I do notice that transition from LTE to WCDMA on AT&T and Tmo has a higher success rate. But it is not perfect either. And don't ask me about a transition from LTE to EDGE. Robert

    Sprint and Nokia

I'm guessing that Nokia believes that the trouble of adding CDMA is not worth the sales on just two carriers in the U.S. It's probably a miscalculation on their part, but that's my guess. Robert
  6. Yep, it took only an hour. I was sleeping. For future reference, in the sponsorship thread it explains a little bit of what to expect after donation: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1195-information-about-s4gru-sponsorship-levels-and-how-to-become-a-sponsor/ Thanks for supporting S4GRU. 12. In New Mexico, Spanglish is very trippy. They will mix nouns and/or verbs in the same sentence. It will be an English sentence with one or two Spanish words, or vice versa. We went camping once with a close friend. He kept asking my wife for the oven mitt. The sentence was completely in English. Except for the word oven mitt. He was getting very frustrated with my wife because she just looked at him blankly. He had no idea he was using a Spanish noun that we had never heard of before. He never even knew the English word "oven mitt." He just assumed the Spanish word for it was universal because that's all he's ever heard. Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  13. We also have one here in an Albuquerque suburb called Rio Rancho. Many of their Spanish speaking agents are located there. New Mexicans tend to speak really slow Spanish compared to most Spanish Speaking areas. It's because most New Mexicans grow up bilingual from birth and learn Spanish/English interchangeably. So they tend to speak Spanish at the same speed they speak English. It's a great place to learn the language. I love hearing New Mexicans telling people from Central and South America to slow down when they talk. No one is in a hurry in New Mexico. They call it the Land of Mañana. 18. I'm usually good at catching those. DOH!!!
  19. I'm happy for him. The best we see in New Mexico now ever is 15-18Mbps on Verizon. At peak times, it's on average 3-4Mbps. And sometimes even drops below 1Mbps. Yes, sometimes I can find an under burdened VZW site here that is 30-40Mbps. But it is not common. Tmo LTE and AT&T LTE here are way faster than Verizon. And I imagine Sprint will be too (because it seems like no one in New Mexico uses Sprint except for the 10 of us who post here). Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk
  20. Agreed. This is just like Sprint did with Clearwire back in October 2011. nTelos is bankrupt without Sprint. And Sprint is shooting across their bow to leverage a deal. Is it a deal on network usage, or a deal on a possible purchase? That's the unknown at this time. If it is a network deal that Sprint is looking for, then Sprint also is probably looking for a network upgrade build out commitment, and possible inclusions of 800/2600 to some extent too. Will be interesting to watch. Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk
  21. I cannot say more than I have. Our sources determine what we can share and what we cannot. People's jobs are on the line. So I only share what they feel comfortable with. Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk
  22. With the black bear problems we have had in New Mexico the last 3 years, it's going to take a lot more than a solar charger to save me when camping. I prefer my .38 or 12 ga. Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk
  23. I believe the few 800 acceptances in Florida were from over eager inspectors wanting to sign off on all the equipment. It may have even been one inspector. Because they all started being accepted at the same time, then stopped. As if someone was corrected. "Hey man, we're not accepting the 800 yet!" Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk
  24. Now this one I find intriguing. To be able to put it under my display without any detection by me is great. Even if it didn't charge it very much, but at least rapidly reduced the rate of discharge while in use in a lighted area would be a big bonus. This seems practical to me. Extending my battery life by 30% - 50% in a day would be a huge feat. Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk
