Microcells?

I saw an article somewhere in the last few days that AT&T (I think, but it could have been Verizon) was going to be adding microcells to cover congested spots of a block or two like Sprint was talking about a year ago. Anyone know if Sprint is still looking to add these microcells? If I remember correctly the Sprint ones were small enough to put on stoplights.

Yes. Sprint is even doing a micro cell FIT with Nokia right now.

And have been doing tests with samsung and Alcatel-Lucent for a while if we recall their statements from last year and the recent Samsung Pico cells fcc certifications.

I remember hearing from a sites acquisitions manager for Verizon , that they are partnering with Walmart for microcells

Walmart and Verizon? Bad combination. :(

Interesting because I saw an article that Verizon was going to sell some of their towers. I think around 13,000 if I recall.

Why is that interesting or relevant?  Major operators routinely sell off some/all of their owned tower structures, then lease back space on them.

I wish someone would get some small cells in Target's... They all seem to be the places where RF dies...even the WiFi inside sucks!

Verizon has been very proactive installing microcells in the big package/home improvement stores. At least they were in the 1x/EVDO era. I have not kept up with their efforts in the LTE era.

Microcells or repeaters?
