iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus User Thread

I did see an interesting comment about how there is speculation that apple pay and google wallet will further increase credit card fees because now google and apple get a slice of every transaction.  Anybody have more info/opinions about that?

So last week I took advantage of the loyalty reward and got another iPhone 6 for my 3rd line and was told not to expect the discount for 1 to 2 billing cycles. Today I noticed the discount was applied to my current bill that's not due until next month and I haven't even been charged for the phone yet. Nice.

Sprint wouldn't swap my Zagg InvisibleShield Glass so I ordered a replacement from Zagg. It broke last Wednesday when I changed it from my first 6+ to my 2nd.

Do you know if there is a Zagg Kiosk anywhere near you in a mall maybe? Generally they will swap it out for a few bucks.

I pulled mine off the phone I returned. I hope I can put it on the new one once it comes it.

Oh yeah. Easy to put it on the next phone. I have my cracked one on my iPhone now.

There is one right by the Apple Store in Fresno, but now that I ordered it from the factory, I'll just be waiting until it comes in.

Anyone think we could maybe make this the "iPhone Users Thread"? Sure, we have a lot of 6 and 6 plus users, but do we really need to have a seperate thread for all other iPhones? :)

-Anthony

I think so because of Spark on the 6 & 6 Plus.

With the phone growing in popularity, this is not bad idea.

No I don't.  The 6 and 6+ are different than other iPhones.  They have Band 41, Apple Pay, etc.  What's the point of having an iOS forum if you're going to corral so many things together?

I have a iPhone 6 right now but I want a 6+. For those who have the 6+ what is your honest opinion on it both pros and cons?

OIS in the camera, by far the biggest pro, and of course the battery life. I don't have any cons yet, but it's only been a week and a half since I got it.

Do you just want the bigger screen and battery life. I find my battery life to be acceptable on the 6. It would probably help if I wasn't in a fringe zone, but it works. lol

I kinda want it just for the big screen. But is it worth it to shell out another $700 dollars. But I guess it would boil down to personal needs/wants

It's BIG. To the point where my iPad gets little use anymore.

The battery is great. I regularly get 10-12 hours of usage out of it and standby is phenomenal.

The camera is very handy, because it's such a large device taking pics one handed needs the extra stabilisation.

Con: many apps still look weird on it (scaling), and interestingly when apps update to accommodate the larger size they look funny at first, because you get used to the scaled look, heh.

That was another concern of mines with the scaling of apps that aren't updated. How blurry are the apps?

I am finding the battery on iOS 8.1 way better than 8.0.  I am basically able to last a day and a half. I am a light texter and web browser. More of streaming/listening to music at work through my BT. It has been great.

They aren't blurry at all in my experience - just big. Here's a screenshot of Tapatalk from what I'm doing now:

Pros for me:

Reading Documents is much easier

Battery life - Agree with Amber and Josh

Camera is very nice

Most apps that I have are compatible with iOS 8

Cons:

Back pocket carrying is not recommended

One hand operation at times can be difficult

Not having a great tracking app like SignalCheck Pro (for Mike :D)

To me, this is the biggest flaw right now. It throws off my typing all the time lol. Ill go from a normal sized keyboard in messages, and then to tapatalk and have error after error after error! GAH! Update the size of the apps already app developers. It's been over a month now!

    • S23 and S24 (at least ultra versions) have 4xCA NR. I currently have n41+n41+n25+n71 most places I go.  I think select devices have 2xCA upload but I do not think it is in widespread use yet. CA is still mostly download focused.
    • If they use n41 + n41 2CA, people that are somewhat distant from the cell site will have an OK download but the upload will be a disaster.  Upload capability on b-41 was always a disaster on the old Sprint Network.   Now, with n25 + n41 combination, even the more distant users have a more decent upload.  I see n41 + n41 + n25 now with my S22 and I understand that we will see 4xCA with newer phones in the future.     I also see n41 + n41 + n71 sometimes too. Also some other combinations of 25, 41, 71.  I would think that eventually we will see AWS paired with n41 too.  What I am not sure of is ----  when I see 3xCA on my S22, I can see the 3 channels involved in the download but I am never sure just what I have on the upload. I do not think I have 3xCA on the upload.
    • I don't know enough about the nuts and bolts of NR to know the answer, but is there a reason they're not doing two overlapping 100 MHz n41 carriers and using selective resource shutoff to make each one 97 MHz?  Thus making use of the full 194 MHz instead of leaving 4 MHz unused as implied by the current standard 100+90 configuration? - Trip
    • Looks like another T-Mobile 5G bump happened over the past week and a half, maybe less: n41 carriers are now 90+100 MHz, up from 80+100 (which in turn is up from 40+100 back in early March). This is on top of the new n25 carrier recently. As part of this, it looks like T-Mobile is starting to prefer n25+n41 2CA even when pushing data, rather than having higher levels of CA that would hit higher peak speeds; at least indoors I need to force n41-only if I want to see the full 190 MHz there. To be fair the speeds are plenty quick with that amount of spectrum, and I'm sure they're load balancing, and my guess is this is a little better for battery life? With this expansion, they're now at 10x10+10x10 n25, 15x15 n71, 100+90 n41, for a total of 260 MHz (including FD uplink) of deployed NR here, up from 250 MHz a week ago, 230 MHz two weeks ago, and 190 MHz six months ago. VZW is at 140 MHz minus mmW, 170 if you count n2 DSS. AT&T is at 150 MHz (80+40 n77, 15x15 n5), 210 MHz I think if you count n2 and n66 DSS (guessing they're still running those). With this level of spectrum they should be able to continue offering home internet wherever. Guessing this is the last upgrade they can make before they need to throw new equipment on sites for C-Band. At this rate I figure that'll happen next year on a few dozen high-traffic sites.
