So the iPhone 5c starts at $0 and the iPhone 5s starts at $99 for new customers on contract.

Not really, Apple hates seeing anything they sell discounted or on sale.

This offer (which has been going on for a while now; stopped for a bit, and is back) has been applicable to the iPhone for its entire duration. Same thing with the Sprint Phone Connect Save $100 offer. As is the Credit Union Port In Offer, but that's $100 on your bill, not instant.

This is a great offer to bring in new customers, but as I've seen it can really upset current out of contract customers.

Figures. I bought my Sprint iPhone from Best Buy at full price only to get home and learn I could have got 100 dollars off if I had bought it online. Too late now because my phone number is now a Sprint number so I no longer qualify for the discount.

It's not online only. I got $100 off at the store and my friend got the 5c for free b/c of the credit.
