Going to have to do a hard reset I think. This thing went haywire this morning. Apps crashing, google play even, not reading my SD card suddenly, side button unresponsive, done 2 battery pulls, lagging way behind, shutting off by itself...

GN3 entered this 3X Sorry!

This is a shame. They took a phenomenal phone and screwed it all up. Hopefully enough other owners have issues so there will be a fix for this horrible KK 4.4 downgrade.

I'm surprised some people are having so many issues with battery life. This is what mine looks like with GPS on all the time.

Though I've seen better battery days than this I'm still pretty happy overall.

5 hours on the battery and you're happy at 50% life??? That's awful compared to what mine used to do.

I was also just annoyed with the battery life, now I'm about to throw my phone up against a brick wall.

It's done nothing but crash today. It won't read my SD card and it won't install the software right to my computer for me to even transfer my files over before doing a hard reset.

I'm stuck losing 5 months worth of photos and videos if I can't get it to work properly and at least transfer my data.

Anyone got an idea on how to save my photos if it won't read my card to transfer there, and  it won't let me transfer data via USB either???

Keep in mind that I pretty much haven't put my phone down since waking up. But in the end, if I get at least 6 hours screen in time I'm happy. So yes, I'm very pleased with the battery life I showed in those pics.

Keep in mind, when judging battery life, it's better to judge screen on time than total time. During the week when I'm at work it'd be about 98% after 5 hours, but I'm also not using the phone.

Also, ps. I'm wondering if either you have an app that's gone rogue or if you have a lot of cache built up.

No way to tell, but nothing works. Been fighting it all day.

Settings crashing, side button not responding, almost all apps crash, phone won't wake up, won't read SD card, you name it - it's going wrong.

Haven't installed anything new, just started happening out of the blue late last night/early this morning.

To confirm, have you done a factory reset already? Google changed so much behind the scenes on this update that I actually did a reset right away after accepting the OTA. Not ideal, I know.

No, which I'm trying to do, however also trying to figure out how to retain my data before doing a reset.

Well, I thought I was in the clear. Finally got my data to transfer via USB, then did the factory reset.

However, before I ever finished the setup process after resetting, apps started crashing in the background. I finished set up and started going through and it's the exact same as before, even without all of my apps loaded. My apps were freezing while updating, it wouldn't read my SD card and things like "settings" and "google play" were crashing.

Beautiful.

Try taking your sdcard out. I once had an sdcard go corrupt about 2 years ago and it seriously messed with my entire phone.

Let me know if that helps.

I've been messing with that some... very odd. Half the time my phone won't even read its there, but then when I put into my PC it's just fine.

I'll pull it in and out of my phone and it won't even notify me that anything is changing.

So that did the trick from the hat I can tell. After 2 hard resets I haven't had any issues after leaving the SD card out.

Now for Google/Samsung to update and get my battery life back to top notch.

There is a battery drain bug in the KitKat update. This was posted over in the LG G2 thread.

My battery drain has been as bad as when the N3 first came out. (The fix for that worked).

But now I see different apps using the battery more than before KK.

But, the overall experience has not been real bad. I have learned to live with is issue for now.

No other issues with Kit Kat....

Lateck,

I hear you!  Mine is not real bad either.  It's just annoying, because I knew how good it was before KK.

All of a sudden today after up dating You Tube app I have had a rash of "andriod.process stopped" pop ups. And a lot of "you tube app has stopped" on my Note 3.

Anyone else?

Thanks smalltimehack. I did that and the you tube issues went away but......

I am getting "android.process.media" has stopped and I can not pull up any photos that were not protected by another app. Even when I take a photo, it will not display.

Any ideas?

Anything Android.process is your software attempting to open something and the path to get the task done is no longer there. You could try clearing data for the gallery but more than likely you will need to reset your phone.

Made a call this morning after I switched back to my note. Normally I can hold calls no problem at my house but on my note it was all staticky and would cut in and out. Samsung is really dropping the ball with their phones lately.

So are you saying that your LG G2 has better reception at your house than the Note 3 does?  My situation is just the opposite.  My N3 has much better RF reception in the same areas.  But you are right.  Samsung quality is not what it used to be....

Yeah. My LG's have been better than my note has ever been. My g2 and my N5 are absolutely awesome on signal strength.

I wonder if my G2 is just a big yellow lemon?  There are many other owners though that complain of poor RF with the G2.  Everyone loves their N5.

The G2 is good when you compare it to the N5 when it comes to signal but they're still not on the same level. The note lags behind the g2 but not by that much. I have an issue with my picture mail not being received now. Wonder what is causing it since I have reprogrammed my phone a few times now to see if it helps.

    • Excuse my rookie comments here, but after enabling *#73#, it seems that the rainbow sim V2? requires n70 (I turned it off along with n71 - was hoping to track n66) to be available else it switches to T-Mobile.  So this confirms my suspicion that you need to be close to a site to get on Dish.  Have no idea why they don't just use plmn. To test, I put it into a s21 ultra, rebooted twice, came up on T-Mobile (no n70 on s21).  Tried to manually register on 313340, but it did not connect (tried twice). I am on factory unlocked firmware but used a s22 hack to get *#73# working.  Tried what you were suggesting with a T-Mobile sim partially installed, but that was very unstable with Dish ( I think they had figured that one out).  [edit: and now I see Boost sent me a successful device swap notice which says I can now begin to use my new device.  Sigh.  Will try again later and wait for this message - too impatient.]
    • Hopefully this indicates T-Mobile hasn't completely abandoned mmwave and/or small cells? But then again this is the loop, so take that as you will. Hopefully now that most macro activity is done (besides rural colo/builds), they will start working on small cells.
    • This has been approved.. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/fcc-approves-t-mobiles-deal-to-purchase-mint-mobile/
    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). They do have a reserve level. Nationwide 800Mhz is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  T-Mobile did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, FWA Mobile in RVs in Walmart parking lots working where mobile phones need all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall  to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71, 90% 5g.  93% of traffic is on midband.  SA is also adding to their performance advantage, which they figure is still ahead of other carriers by two years. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77 also with its shorter range.
    • The manual network selection sounds like it isn't always scanning NR, hence Dish not showing up. Your easiest way to force Dish is going to be forcing the phone into NR-only mode (*#*#4636#*#* menu?), since rainbow sims don't support SA on T-Mobile.
