Ok just left walmart and basically performance was the same on both devices. As we headed to the back of the store both phones dropped to 3g but once we got back to within a few feet of the registers

Well, the phone whore in me forced me to get a gs4 this morning. So I have an HTC One on one line and a GS4 on the other, will run as many comparative tests as I can.

i have heard of speakers going out....but that person had it on full blast for a while

 

happened to my top speaker. I never turned the volume all the way up. Sprint replaced my device. I have insurance.

With a new one or an assurion refurbished?

I was told it would be a referb, but when I received the device it was new not refurbished. The phone came in an envelope, no box.

New phones are usually in boxes IIRC. Not that it matters but was that the only reason you thought it was new?

New to this forum. My Verizon contract runs out in a few weeks and am seriously considering switching to Sprint to get an HTC One.Is this phone worth switching? Sounds like yes but any input would be great.

Being so new sprint orders a stash of new ones for when problems like this come up. I dunno how they plan on refurbing these anyways since they can't be opened.

When I was still working at Sprint I remember the refurbished ones came in an envelope and new ones came in the original box same as when it was originally purchased. I know when new phones came out replacements new until enough was sent to assurion and then they became refurbs. Also when new phones came out for the first 60-90 days from launch techs were not supposed to open them up, just order a replacement usually being new. They could have changed the process, I left in the middle May.

^ true, Most of the time they do come in an envelope but the vto sticker on the inside with a date would let you know it's a refurb. With a phone this new I doubt they have any refurbs already so they're prolly going to be new for awhile.

I switched from Verizon to Sprint for this phone(and unlimited data) and don't regret it.

Anyone else having the issue where you start music on the phone through the headset and you get a loud spike and then the volume goes to where it is set?  sounds like an amplification spike at full power and then drops to the set volume.

Never had this happen, I have noticed however that when playing music through the speakers, when you plug in earphones, unless you had the volume on max for earphones, the phone cuts the music out for a second then resume at a much lower volume level.

The HTC oNe has gotten a lot of positive reviews. My wife has one and I am a bit jealous. Check out sensorly.com to see if Sprints coverage will work out for you.

I just checked sensorly out to see the coverage in my area. No 4g LTE in my home area(Point Loma), but looks like there is 4gLTE in the area where I work(Downtown),but I'm ok with that since its unlimited data and my grandfathered unlimited plan with Verizon was taken away unless I wanted to pay full price for a phone,no thanks Verizon.

There looks like there is some active in point loma according to sensorly. If you become a S4GRU sponsor you could look at which sites active and future progress. Keep in mind sensorly is mapped by it's users so it is possible coverage is a little better.

I got my first HTC One a month ago and it picked up an LTE signal just where the Sensorly map  said I should. For example,  I had strong LTE at work (in SE Portland) all the time. This was over a period of several weeks.

But the phone had a defective camera, so I returned it and got a "new" (refurb) phone. This one never, ever shows LTE. I've gone into ##data# and gone through all the network options, including LTE only. Where I used to get a LTE signal I just get a x over the signal bars. I never get LTE now.  I've driven around according the the Sensorly map to several strong LTE areas. Never get an LTE Signal

Any ideas? Is there something I should check? I've tried the latest 55xx and 56xx PRL's which, of course, made no difference.

 

I find it hard to believe they just turned off the LTE signal on the day I got the new phone.

Do  you know someone else with an lte capable sprint phone so you can compare?  It does sound like an issue with the phone, also try removing the sim card and re-installing it.

The SIM card is not active. They don't send a new SIM with the AE phone so you are suppose to move your SIM over. The problem is when you switch phones in RMS it auto puts on the uccc SIM that is suppose to go in that DEC. The rep needs to go back in and click change uccc SIM and put your SIM back on your account.

 

Source, I have a one, have had it switched and work at an AE store.

I think this is the reason why you aren't connecting to lte.

I'd guarantee it's what is going on. I only figured it out after a minute cuz I'm not retarded. My coworkers were suggesting ordering another phone.

      A heavy n41 overlay as an acquisition condition would be a win for customers, and eventually a win for T-Mobile as that might be enough to preclude VZW/AT&T adding C-Band for FWA due to spreading the market too thinly (which means T-Mobile would just have local WISPs/wireline ISPs as competition). USCC spacing (which is likely for contiguous 700 MHz LTE coverage in rural areas) isn't going to be enough for contiguous n41 anyway, and I doubt they'll densify enough to get there.

      Boost Infinite with a rainbow SIM (you can get it SIM-only) is the cheapest way, at $25/mo, to my knowledge; the cheaper Boost Mobile plans don't run on Dish native. Check Phonescoop for n70 support on a given phone; the Moto G 5G from last year may be the cheapest unlocked phone with n70 though data speeds aren't as good as something with an X70 or better modem.

      Continuing the USCC discussion, if T-Mobile does a full equipment swap at all of USCC's sites, which they probably will for vendor consistency, and if they include 2.5 on all of those sites, which they probably will as they definitely have economies of scale on the base stations, that'll represent a massive capacity increase in those areas over what USCC had, and maybe a coverage increase since n71 will get deployed everywhere and B71 will get deployed any time T-Mobile has at least 25x25, and maybe where they have 20x20. Assuming this deal goes through (I'm betting it does), I figure I'll see contiguous coverage in the area of southern IL where I was attempting to roam on USCC the last time I was there, though it might be late next year before that switchover happens.

      Forgot to post this, but a few weeks ago I got to visit these small cells myself! They're spread around Grant park and the surrounding areas, but unfortunately none of the mmwave cells made it outside of the parks along the lake into the rest of downtown. I did spot some n41 small cells around downtown, but they seemed to be older deployments limited to 100mhz and performed poorly.

      What is the cheapest way to try Dish's wireless network?  Over the past year I've seen them add their equipment to just about every cell site here, I'm assuming just go through Boost's website?  What phones are Dish native?
