Upper Central Valley - 10 updates (1 LTE, 9 CDMA 800)

Where is the 1 LTE Update...is that the Highway 193 one? I see 8 CDMA 800 up north by redding and then the 9th over along 80 before you get to Reno? Is that right? Or is there another LTE one?

And to show just how aggressive Samsung is...  we're expecting sites to go live on LTE 800 (and presumably LTE 1900 as well)  rapidly in the next 60 days in Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Arden Arcade, North Highlands, Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, Orangevale, and some parts of Yolo County (ala West Sacramento).

In addition to that, CDMA 800 1x is steadily being accepted in many a place with the most prominent being the rural stretch of HWY between Chico, CA & Redding, CA and along 80 towards Reno.

The next 60-90 days is going to be extremely exciting.

I was down HWY 99 today from Red Bluff to Chico, had signal pro and sensorly going the whole time and I had 1x800 the whole time.

Yep! There was about 8 Cell Sites right along that route that just got accepted for 1X800 CDMA yesterday or today!

so if you have 1x800 right now.  when lte 800 is deployed does that mean you will have LTE in those areas as well?  also i am a little nervous now since two sites in my area have been 4g accepted does that mean they are done for awhile?  i am literally on the outter edge of one of the sites if the adjacent one got LTE i would have it.

LTE 800 activation on those towers will happen at a later date. You will need a new phone like the new LG that is coming out soon to receive LTE 800. As for LTE 1900 on all these other towers it should happen as soon as the upgraded backhaul connections are available to these towers since all the equipment on the pole's has already been installed. Every tower near you will get LTE. It's just a matter of time now....

I have a question, the site in my city that has applied for a permit to be upgraded, is there an application for my phone that can scan to see if it is broadcasting any signals? I go by it everyday to drop my daughter off at daycare and i hit 2 different towers a couple miles away instead of that one a couple hundred feet away.

Reno checking in here - is there a new accepted site in Sparks, near John Ascuaga's Nugget. Sensorly maps are showing 4G there but no one I know is picking it up. and I live 2 blocks from there.

This is all you need to do and all you will need to do to get the things you need so you can do what you want to do.

-Side Note-

Where my Reno folks at? We have a 4G accepted site in the west side of Reno near boomtown that is in need of being mapped on sensorly!

I knew there was 4G here! I live two blocks from the Nugget and have been trying to pick up the 4G, but haven't had any luck. I see it mapped on Sensorly - was that you? If so, thanks!

When we were just getting into Reno last night the wife's iphone 5 told her she was in Denver..was weird. Corrected itself a little while later..

Speed test just after boom town.

We are at the Nugget and my phone has LTE here in the room and throughout the casino

Just like with PCS LTE, you need a stronger signal for LTE to work than you do for 1x. So if you have a very weak 800 1x signal, then it's possible that the LTE signal you get will not be usable. If you have a medium to strong 800 1x signal, than it's a pretty good bet LTE will work.

Even if a site is 4G accepted, work will continue until all updates are complete. It does not mean that it is done.

Your phone is not a 4G LTE device (it's 3G PCS 1900 only) so you wouldn't be able to pick up any 4g signal anyways. Probably testing in progress for a nearby tower.

Thanks for the information, but I have other (4G LTE-capable) devices on my plan.

The only way to determine just which tower it could be is to become a sponsor here and get access to my permit / progress map. There's two towers in the immediate vicinity of Nugget casino that may be the one and I have addresses for these towers that I can't share on the public areas.

The other option is the waiting game.

yeah i will probably wait until samsung introduces a tri band device.

Yeah I live in a pretty rural area and now that I see all the crap that these cities have in the way of permitting, etc, etc. I am kinda glad and feel that our area will get a lot before some who live in more populated areas get a little.

I've been getting tones telling me of a 4G signal sitting in my living room. I would consider myself too far from the tower south of Mather to get their signal. I will try to go to the nearest tower here in Rancho to check their panels for updates.

Nice, it's good to see some progress. I almost gave up on Sprint today. I wen't to the T-mobile store on Bruceville and Elk Grove Blvd and they said they had no data service at the moment since their towers were being upgraded. They told me to check back in a few days haha. I thought it was funny.  So instead I just donated to this site. I'm gonna hang around since the grass is not always greener.

    • What device is that on?
    • Been in Japan for the past few days, and I'm about to leave today. Google Fi/Tmus roaming in Japan only had Softbank LTE, so it was pretty slow in busy areas, especially HND (albeit usable in most places). When I got to Osaka, I bought a KDDI native SIM from Aerobile, which is an esim reseller based in Taiwan. With this au/KDDI SIM, I could get NR, and that really improved the network experience here. Even though my phone is missing many ENDC combos here, having b1 + n77 or b3 + n77 or b41 + n78 really helps out with the congested LTE network here. As a bonus, 4cc n257 also works on my s24, and I've reached peaks of 2gbps with it. I'm heading to China today, so hopefully Google Fi supports 5G on whatever carrier they roam on in the mainland. If not, I'll probably be stuck on congested LTE like the first couple of days in Japan.
    • Mike, I just noticed on my S22 Ultra when connected to Verizon n261 SCP is reporting it as n257. I don't see mmwave very often and I didn't notice it at the time I was connected to it. Not sure if it matters but I'm on Visible.
    • Here's my personal best, as well as the maximum speed I was able to get over 5gbps USB tethering. Millimeter wave is definitely a lot of fun, and I wish AT&T and T-Mobile would deploy a lot more of it.
