Network Vision/LTE - Indianapolis Market

omega

Recommended Posts

Something is going on in Pendleton with Sprint. Went through today and had zero signal. Was roaming throughout the entire city until I got close to the interstate. Anyone have any insight?

While Playing Ingress in Pendleton I stopped by IN23XC079 and it seems is well on its way to 4gLTE. Fiber Backhaul is in place. Coverage is VERY VERY spotty in Pendleton right now. there are Heavy tire marks all over the site. All underground cableling is marked.

In this area it would probably be AT$T, CenturyLink, or Verizon. Not sure which one covers this area

Down here in Greenfield it would be at-t. Ive had issues here the last couple weeks with connection and dropped calls. it was good before that for a couple of months then it went in the toilet again. i did notice that alot of the old equipment missing from the top of the tower like its been cleaned up. I think its time to take a trip up to it and get a closer look. i hope i see some flags on the ground.

Has anyone else been noticing considerably slower speeds lately?  This week in downtown Indy I am getting under 400 kbps.  Since December had been getting 2-4 MBPS while sitting at my desk.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. LTE is fairly ubiquitous in the Indy area now (at least the areas I frequent - downtown and the south side).

I agree, it is pretty difficult for me to go somewhere without being in LTE coverage.

Anyone else notice that they seemed to turn on the 800 towers yesterday, at least on the south side of Indy? I got a connection last night and still had it this morning.

Yes, it looks like they are firing up everywhere around town.

pardon my ignorance but how can you tell if 800Mhz is going live. i did not think sprint had any 800Mhz phones on the market yet.

It's the 800 voice. Not 800 LTE. You can see if you are connected by going into the engineering screens.

Thanks Newboyx, looks like the closest 800 tower is 6 miles away North of Knightstown. there is another 800 tower in New Castle that is 8 Miles away from me. Probably too far for me to connect to.

Interesting. I am getting 800 at work in Daleville with RSSI -90dBm, Ec/lo of -7dB that is a shock.

apparently you can also check for 800 using SignalCheck for android

Yep, that SignalCheck Pro app is the shiznit! You can even configure it to notify you when you connect via 800MHz just like it does for LTE.

Ok. So I get 800 at home. It is so strong that It is overpowering my airave. I may be able to shut it off because I don't need it anymore. There are 3 towers close that are reporting 800naga8era.jpg

after doing a PRL update this morning it seems to be back at least in Daleville. wonder why it worked yesterday without one.

I'm not sure, but it seems they are cycling it on and off. After I posted on Monday morning that I was getting the 800 connections at home, I haven't seen it since. The tower I connect to at home is 3G/4G/800 accepted and only a couple of blocks away and I get a great LTE signal (-90 or so) and a great 1xRTT signal. I thought that Digiblur had said that the most recent PRL's were set up to scan for 800MHz connections first (highest priority) so I would assume that would mean that I should be seeing 1x800 at home all the time if the signal were available. Maybe I misunderstood what he posted about the PRLs?

Just to let you know, it seems that CDMA 800 goes live for a long testing period weeks or even months before acceptance. It's always worth checking for, even if there are no accepted sites in your area.

you should pick it up at the one next to the rest stop on the north side of 70 just east of greenfield. its mainly a east west signal along the interstate but i get it about a mile south of 70. 800 has been going for a couple months and steady for about a month.

a good app is CDMA field test app it will give you the SID without having to go to your engineering screen and the BSID and will show it on the map. in Indy every tower BSID I have located have been spot on with this app.
