Well worth the $2 I think it costs for the premium version, I think you'll enjoy it.

Just downloaded this thanks for the info. But now for some reason I can't activate this as a device administrator. Won't let me enable or cancel. Had this happened to anyone on the s7e.

I have an S7. Not an Edge, though.

I've had Package Disabler Pro for months and have had zero problems. I also seem to be able to designate apps as administrators without issue.

I've had no issues in the past. Just all of a sudden I can't make any app a device admin. It's not greyed out. Just doesn't register the click. Google yields varying results.

That would be funny if turning off one of N's improvements helps battery life.

That's interesting, I've noticed a big drain with Android OS as well recently, might have to give this a try.

Was looking in to it a little further, apparently going to apps and resetting app permissions under apps can help a lot. Just did this myself will report back with any findings.

Well, I no longer have the S7 Edge. This past weekend, as I was entering the house, a big gust of wind slammed the storm door against me. Making me loose my grip on the S7E and it (like in a slow motion scene) fell on to the edge of the stairs and destroyed the display. aarrgghh.

I can commiserate.

I feel your pain, I dropped my Note 5 this past weekend as well I don't use a case and forgot it was on my lap when I got out of my car and down went the phone. Luckily besides a scrape on the frame and a slight crack near the earpiece the screen itself is unharmed.

Guess you'll be moving onto an S8+? Might be my goto soon, Note 8 isn't looking too promising.

Well that same Saturday, I went to the store and was debating between fixing it, replacing it with another S7 Edge or move on to the S8+. I really wanted to hold out for the Note 8, but Miss "I'm throwing you a curve ball" Life lady got in the way. So I now have the S8+.

Ironically, I didn't think much of the S8 or the S8+ when they were unveiled, but after using it for a few days, I have to take back my words and say, it really is quite impressive.

Awesome to hear, that's why I never went to the S7 or S7 Edge it just wasn't worth it, both performance and feature wise my Note 5 stays right with the 7 series. But the 8 I would hope is a lot better, maybe I'll go check it out soon I am getting that itch, and plus I never use the spen anyway lol. How are you liking the battery life of the +? better than the S7 Edge?

Edit - Well the temptation got to me, just put in my order for the S8+, it will be here tomorrow. Good deal online no activation fee so it was $82.24 out the door, also ordered a case on Amazon for $15 which will be here tomorrow as well. Not a bad $100 spent. :D

I have an S8+ and it's a nice phone, "standby time" is excellent. On a full charge just before bedtime and 9 hours later the battery is still at 100% (I'm hardly even using it). Unfortunately, I had to switch carriers because of my daughters, one is working and the other is going to start college where Sprint doesn't have good coverage, that's the only reason. The town where I live, Sprint is faster than Verizon.

This has around 45 mins screen time

Pretty good. And I don't stop using my phone (text, twitter and web). Ironically I don't use the phone part for calls. So I can't comment how good it is talking on the phone.

is it usual for the S7 Edge to overheat and slow down and the battery to drain quickly?

Not for me. I've had my GS7E since March 7th of 2016.

Have you tried a factory reset? Or try flashing the 935U firmware. It's great. Faster, smoother, less bloat, and better battery life.

    • This has been approved.. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/fcc-approves-t-mobiles-deal-to-purchase-mint-mobile/
    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). They do have a reserve level. Nationwide 800Mhz is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  T-Mobile did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, FWA Mobile in RVs in Walmart parking lots working where mobile phones need all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall  to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71, 90% 5g.  93% of traffic is on midband.  SA is also adding to their performance advantage, which they figure is still ahead of other carriers by two years. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77 also with its shorter range.
    • The manual network selection sounds like it isn't always scanning NR, hence Dish not showing up. Your easiest way to force Dish is going to be forcing the phone into NR-only mode (*#*#4636#*#* menu?), since rainbow sims don't support SA on T-Mobile.
    • "The company’s unique multi-layer approach to 5G, with dedicated standalone 5G deployed nationwide across 600MHz, 1.9GHz, and 2.5GHz delivers customers a consistently strong experience, with 85% of 5G traffic on sites with all three spectrum bands deployed." Meanwhile they are very close to a construction deadline June 1 for 850Mhz of mmWave in most of Ohio covering 27500-28350Mhz expiring 6/8/2028. No reported sightings.  Buildout notice issue sent by FCC in March 5, 2024 https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/letterPdf/LetterPdfController?licId=4019733&letterVersionId=178&autoLetterId=13060705&letterCode=CR&radioServiceCode=UU&op=LetterPdf&licSide=Y&archive=null&letterTo=L  No specific permits seen in a quick check of Columbus. They also have an additional 200Mhz covering at 24350-25450 Mhz and 24950-25050Mhz with no buildout date expiring 12/11/2029.
    • T-Mobile Delivers Industry-Leading Customer, Service Revenue and Profitability Growth in Q1 2024, and Raises 2024 Guidance https://www.t-mobile.com/news/business/t-mobile-q1-2024-earnings — — — — — I find it funny that when they talk about their spectrum layers they're saying n71, n25, and n41. They're completely avoiding talking about mmWave.
