HTC A9 (FCC)

Recommended Posts

lilotimz    10,869

FCC docs for the new device has been released.

http://www.gforgames.com/gadgets/sprint-htc-one-a9-certified-49100/

Found the filing last night.

Interestingly they listed it as a category 3 UE when we know for a fact it's a category 6 ue that supports b41 carrier aggregation and have fixed CA engineering screens.

Prototypes have been in the US and in the hands of a few of our members for several weeks already.  I hear that this HTC handset is "aero-dynamic."

;)

Looking at the numbers they provided before a write up is done. They don't look amazing or am I reading it wrong.

I'm not good at humor . But was quoting to ask you about the band and frequency numbers related to the A9. As from my quick skim they seemed average to poor.

Liveblog from the video

- Snapdragon 617 processor
- "uh oh protection" Free replacement of phones
- 3 GB ram, 32 GB internal storage, MicroSD slot is available.
- 5 inch AMOLED panel
- 24-bit, 192KHz DAC
- Does have carrier Aggregation
- 13 MP camera (WITH OIS)
- More gimmicky video/picture features "Hyperlapse"
- Supports RAW video capture
- Comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- Fingerprint Scanner

$399.99 Direct from HTC, Unlocked. Available to lease via Sprint.

More detailed specs when they have their retarded twitter Q&A but I am not about to wade through a bunch of 140 character bullshit to find out more specs.

Edit: I'm not sure about the value here over say a Moto X other than if someone wants a smaller phone. Even the 5x seems competitive at this price. Mid range price is really full of options these days

Edit2: spex sheet

The best color is the dark garnet red which it seems sprint doesn't get! If the least iPhone looking color as well!

So this will be available for Sprint November 6th for $200 on contract they will pay the first two payments on a lease or $696 outright! When HTC themselves is selling it for 400 on pre-order on their site! Where is this price disparity coming from its like Sprint doesn't want to sell this device!http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-one-a9-arrives-sprint-starting-november-6

Those poor 3 people will have gotten ripped off big time! And they probably will buy it thinking they're buying an iPhone!

I am inclined to agree with you. Have been attempting to place a pre-order at sprint.com for the past hour and no dice! I can't imagine there's huge demand for this thing?

I checked the site a little bit after you posted and just checked again now it seems they were still doing some user interface updates and information available with a 9. I still don't like that out right price though and I'm unsure if that 399 price applies to the Sprint version or just unlocked versions of the device on htc.com site!

Edit:I just check for myself and the 399 preorder price is for the Sprint variant as well! That's much better deal since you get the Google Play Music for 6 months and the protection as well!

That's a scary small battery. Especially since it lacks the super quick charge of USB type C.

The unlocked varient is interesting as it supports vzw but not there cdma network. It can be used and activated via vo-lte exclusively. Test devices of sorts of things to come!

The 5 pin structure of micro USB is what holds back the charging rate versus the 24 pins of USB C. I'm not sure what improvements quick charge 3.0 will bring.

Lets just call the phone what it is, it is an iphone ripoff that cost $400 with mid tier specs.  Why would i buy this phone over the Nexus 5X or the Nexus 6P.  Matter of fact, you can find the M9 online for about the same price.  This is phone is DOA and stuff like this is why HTC as a corporation is where it is at today...

Battery is small indeed but from what I heard it performs much better than what most might think from a 2150 battery.

According to Qualcomm charges to 80% in 35 mins. With a 2150 mah battery. That is damn quick!

This post may be helpful. Due to Droidlifes testing included in that post. A QC 3.0 may delivery necessary amperage for TYPE C USB power spec devices as well!

    • I've had my Unlocked Coral Blue GS8+ since end of July and it's still going strong.  No software issues or weird shenanigans.  I attribute a lot of that to being on the Unlocked 955U1 firmware.  I still kept my 935U Galaxy S7 Edge and it too is going strong on the Unlocked firmware.   I think most of these issues are coming from Sprint messing with the ROM too much with their bloat and other crap. The only issue I've had so far was when Google updated their Google app, my battery began to drain a lot faster - ~5%/hr instead of the normal ~2%/hr.  A simple reboot took care of that.  Google is still my NUMBER ONE enemy for battery life.  I"m hoping Oreo will take care of Google.
    • FFS.      Now the power supply for our MB has seemingly failed.  When I first plugged it in, I thought the power supply seemed overly ‘noisy’ in that it made a constant hiss/buzz.  Woke up this morning to 2 bars of 1x, and the MB indicated it needed to be plugged in.  Receptacle tested fine.  Power Supply no longer makes any noise and smells a little suspect so Sprint is sending a replacement.
    • you should get the phone! it has a amazing camera and the battery life ins phenominal!
    • I'm thinking they've closed off residential requests for now until they fill some of the orders. I know the link is around here somewhere, Google Sprint magic box, or try sprint.com/magicbox Currently, last I heard, it was business only...
