  1. Anyone create a low-member Framily recently that can shed some light on this? Plans changed, and I might be creating a single person Framily tonight or tomorrow. I may wait a few days to add members to see if Sprint gives me this deal.
  2. If you're not gonna stick around and get educated on the timeframe of when your area will be complete, then by all means, join another carrier that has known good service where you live. But if you enjoy paying less, sit down, do a few hours of research, and wait a few months for things to improve. Sprint is going to be a cellular behemoth this year.
  3. I don't think this is true. If it only worked on 800, people would only be able to utilize HD voice in areas where 1xRTT was weak. Not optimal.
  4. Interesting, I was wondering why it always snapped back to 1xRTT. What if you're out of range of 1xRTT, it must be possible to idle on 1x800 in certain circumstances right?
  5. Ok, thank you for clearing it up. My friend is creating a framily in two weeks, I really hope this deal is part of it. I wonder what you have to do to trigger it? He's only creating it with his girlfriend initially, so if it's two people, maybe that prompts the deal?
  6. So to be clear, the link was targeted… but if you HAVE the link, the deal will work, right? (Link meaning sprint.com/framilyswitch) It's getting confusing, some people are making it sound like it only works if Sprint specifically sent the link to you. That doesn't appear to be the case once I click it. I might be able to get 7 new Sprint customers on board with this.
  7. Can't find 1x800 anymore in Endwell, I think it must have been in testing temporarily. I hope it comes in full force soon though. Could really use it on the outskirts where there is limited coverage not too far from town. Ithaca had some fast LTE on Saturday! I had a -105 signal and it was still pulling down 17Mbps. Downtown should be a much happier place for Sprint users.
  8. My Endwell 800, I think this is the Skye Island Drive site. It said "Odell Ave" briefly when my call was over: Hopefully this means the Binghamton area is getting turned on in a cluster, and that hasn't been reflected in the maps yet. Oddly enough, it was very difficult receiving phone calls last night. Two people sent angry texts asking why I didn't pick up. When I told someone to retry, I stood by the window, and it came in. It took about ten seconds of me flicking the answer toggle, and the phone freezing for it finally to latch on to 1x800 and actually answer the call. First time I had seen 1x800 at home, and my girlfriend did not share any of that joy with me during the call. Does this mean eCSFB really isn't working here, or are the delayed calls actually normal on eCSFB enabled sites?
  9. And Ithaca has its first LTE acceptance! :-) Looks like that flaky one should be on 24/7 now.
  10. I'll be up there this coming Saturday, but will be on a wine tour bus, so I can't really determine my own path unfortunately. But I have signalcheck set to notify me upon new LTE connections, so I'll make sure to stay alert for them.
  11. Hopefully that means Binghamton isn't far off from getting 800 too. Upstate NY has been dry as far as 800 acceptances are concerned. Once it gets turned on I can finally get my girlfriend's family to leave Verizon, their house is on the fringe of 1900 1x and it's only partially usable. Going to be in Ithaca on Saturday, I hope that intermittent LTE site is on full time by then.
  12. Interesting, and no, I noticed nothing out of the ordinary. Although it was at valentines day dinner, so I probably turned the phone off immediately after and hid it on my lap.
  13. Can someone explain this? Sorry if it's been documented elsewhere. I was under the impression that the Nexus 5 and other triband devices are not capable of being connected to 1x and LTE simultaneously. Is this a glitch in signalcheck?
  14. So it does work in ALU markets. Wondering why it didn't work on two N5's connected to the same site in my area.
  15. Nice! LTE hasn't been noted on the sponsor maps yet in Ithaca, so it was likely in testing. Hopefully it goes 100% live next week for you.
  16. Used to be at 30% when I left work, or lower, running Dalvik. Switched to ART yesterday - I'm about to go to bed now and it hasn't died yet. Would have been long gone by now on Dalvik. Huge real world difference for me!
  17. Not true. My local store actually told me the Play store was cheaper for the phone, and if I got one from Google, to just come into the store and they would give me a SIM. Technically you can activate the phone without a SIM even installed beforehand. But, I'm sure they would want to see the phone just to make sure you aren't using it on AT&T or T-Mobile before they give you a SIM.
  18. Edited original post. But I've heard other members say it was functional, I think? Is this evidence in the wild, or is it totally unknown for the iPhone 5, 5C, and 5S? We know the Nexus 5 supports EVRC-NW 100%, correct? Last night I placed a call between two Nexus 5's in my Upstate NY market (Same room as each other) and it was definitely not HD Voice. ALU not supported yet, or is it just my group of local towers that don't?
  19. I think some of us got it before the Cydia store was updated for iOS 7. It does run fine for me though.
  20. I just got an N5 last night, so is that technically allowed now ? :-p
  21. I don't really care about the subsidy at this point, to be honest. I won't be buying the $500-600 devices, but rather staying in the $300 range. (My 5C, NEW on eBay was $349… thanks to it being a Sprint model) N5 is $349 as well. Plus, I'm open to buying a lightly used device as well if the opportunity arises. (Anyone have an N5 they don't want?)
  22. Just what I wanted to know. I didn't think any major advances were on the imminent horizon, now seems as safe of a time as ever to buy a new device. Now if I was considering a Nexus 5 in November '14… I might have a bit of buyer's remorse. I suppose I could enjoy an N5 for all of 2014 if I got one now, though. Can't wait until 95% of sites are triband… what a beautiful world that will be. Constant LTE on road trips, seamless handoffs. Ah!
  23. This question involves no phone in particular: Since the current triband offerings are among the first Sprint triband phones on the market, what technology would I be missing out on if I waited until the Summer/Fall to buy a new device? Is being an early triband adopter a bad thing, or will everything stay pretty much the same for the foreseeable future? For example, will devices released in Q4 2014 have any additional wireless technology that is compatible with the Sprint network? (Based on rumors that Sprint may utilize a new wireless technology/feature, or devices may implement a new wireless technology/feature that improves speed/range…etc.)
  24. I think a Nexus 5 is in the cards for me soon. Can't abandon Apple entirely, but honestly this site makes me want to run Android just for the LTE fun that can be had.
