Well that's embarrassing!

Great - I barely ever roam, and when I do, it's only a few megabytes per month. Just want to make sure that when I go tower hunting with speedtests, I'm not going to raise any red flags, especially with some occasional LTE Netflix. :-) Maybe I'm being too cautious. Heh - Just priced it out, even that one is more than my current plan.

I just joined the LTE party recently, and lucky me, Sprint has started rolling out LTE where I spend most of my time. (Lehigh Valley PA, and Endicott, NY) Over the years I've read a few "scare" stories of Sprint users getting booted due to excessive data usage. My question is: At what point should I worry? In 2013, is there now a revised "safe zone" of data usage that doesn't raise any red flags? For some reason, I remember 5Gb being the magic number, but now that I've been using LTE, it seems I'm going to suck that up very quickly. I know that Sprint has no qualms eliminating customers that use unauthorized tethering, but if I'm following all of the rules using my Sprint device over LTE, how high can I realistically go before Sprint starts to care? 10 gig? 15 gig? Do they even care as long as their users aren't using unauthorized tethering workarounds? Also, if I do hit an extremely high amount of (legal) usage, do they send out a warning first, or immediately cancel service? I've got a good thing going with my plan right now, and I don't want to be seen as an abuser of it. Since I'm kind of late to the LTE party having an iPhone 4S for so long, I'm not sure what's seen as excessive anymore. Thanks for any input you guys can give! -Alex

I thought the max for our 3G was 2.7Mbps, that's nuts! Was it a spike or sustained at 3?

Yup! Took me over a year to finally figure out the gesture to get it.

LTE @ Round Top is great! It seems to serve a good chunk of Rt. 17 from Vestal to Apalachin, and a little of West Endicott.

I just got my 5S today. My 4S was jailbroken, and I had my signal strength shown in dBm. This seems to have automatically carried over to my 5S without me having to do anything, other than restore from the 4S' iCloud backup. Say I do a clean restore, is there a way to get this back? I've searched, but it seems people are having trouble getting the numerical signal strength to 'stick' on iOS 7.

What kind of impact will this have on the frequency of updates the NV Sites Complete map will get over the next 4-6 weeks?

Anybody know the backhaul timeframe for the Binghamton area? As far as I know, there are only a small handful of sites that aren't 3G accepted yet, so we've been running the new equipment in 99% of Broome County for some time now. Is backhaul the only thing preventing a few of these sites from lighting up LTE? Not expecting a full launch until 2014 at least, but a few towers at least testing it out would be cool :-)

Won't it be years before 2600 is deployed to the extent that 800 will be, though? 800Mhz LTE is simply a "flip the switch" rollout, whereas 2600 requires additional tower hardware, correct? If that's the case, my area probably won't see 2600 support in the next few years anyway, so I could care less that the 5S and 5C don't support it. It sounds like there's a much better chance of running into 800Mhz in the next two years than 2600. At least both phones are dual-band LTE. 800Mhz LTE support was the deciding factor for me to be on board with a new iPhone this year, anyway. So I'm pleased!

Gotcha. Looks like I should have done a bit of research before buying the app. It's still somewhat useful though.

In the WiMax protection sites map, it shows 6 WiMax sites in the Albany/Schenectady area.

Interesting... Do the Sprint sites give off very rough coordinates as to their location? Is that the issue with the bad location data?

I've been using the Signal 2 app on my jailbroken 4S to see which towers my phone has been connecting to. For the most part, it sort of works. The tower locations are way off on the map, but after looking at the sponsor maps, you can get an idea of which towers you're connecting to, even if the dots in the app are half a mile off. I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue with Sprint + Signal 2. Does this app work better for ATT/VZW customers, or is this just a flaw in the app for Sprint customers? It would be cool if there was user access to the database Signal 2 gets its data from - I'd love to help make it more accurate, sort of like Wikipedia.

I will stay in my market's thread from now on, this forum topic has been resolved Learned a lot! I did just revisit this site, and there is indeed another antenna on the backside. Good call digi.

I will go back and take another look today, and get a picture if I can get around to that side of the tower. I could've sworn that there was only one new antenna but will double check to be sure.

I can confirm that this is the only site that serves the majority of my town, and have verified with the Signal app that I am connected to it and nothing else, despite living behind the new antenna and not in the "line of fire." Are you guys saying that the single NV antenna visible in the photo has the capability of serving users BEHIND it? There is only one new antenna mounted on this site. Digiblur, what do you mean by sector? Each RRU is for providing the antenna with different bands, correct? One for 1900Mhz LTE, and the other for 800Mhz? This is the only site that serves my house right now, and I'm a few miles north of it. The new antenna is points South - so the legacy gear *Must* be still powered on unless someone can confirm that the single NV antenna is a 360º type deal.

Here's a site near me.... It is a 3G accepted site but I do not believe they are utilizing the NV hardware yet. (Speedtests are mediocre, even late at night) Are the three smaller panels the legacy antennas? If so... Why would only one NV antenna be installed, when three legacy panels were installed previously pointing in all directIons? Is it typical for them to come back and install more antennas when they remove the legacy hardware? If they come to remove the legacy antennas and don't replace them with anything else, my town will be screwed for sprint service. This tower has looked like this for a very long time, it just seems they're done here. But the legacy panels must come down, right?
