  1. Can someone identify which set of panels are the Sprint Legacy panels? One set is another carrier, I just don't know enough to tell which one. There is a much smaller set below the large ones, and they only point in one direction I believe. This is the Endwell, Robinson Hill tower.
  2. Oh! I did see the site's number written on the side of the ALU boxes. Didn't know that was a Sprint specific number, figured it was the whole tower. In that case, awesome! Thanks for the identification guys. This is one of the few towers in my area that isn't 3G upgraded yet, so I really can't wait until it goes live.
  3. Hoping someone familiar with actual site upgrades can share some input. Got a picture today, they actually delivered more boxes, on a Saturday oddly enough. The box on the left is the Ericsson crate I saw yesterday, the ones on the right are all labeled Alcatel-Lucent! Are these familiar to anybody?
  4. I drove down a dirt road to a local Sprint tower here in Endwell today. (Upstate NY Central) I know the tower is shared with either AT&T or Verizon, just not sure which. This tower has not had any upgrades done, not even 3G yet, per the maps in the sponsor section. When I looked behind the fence, I spotted a huge wooden crate at the base of the tower with Ericsson stamped on the side. It looked like it was a shipment. Is it possible this was a crate full of antennas for the impending upgrade? Or, since this is an Alcatel/Lucent site, perhaps not involved with Sprint at all? Maybe I'll get a pic tomorrow. Don't know why I didn't today.
  5. That tower still isn't NV upgraded yet, even for 3G Most of the other towers in the area have been upgraded, while this one isn't. Not sure what the holdup is, I drive by it every day and haven't seen anyone there in awhile. From what I can see, this tower points directly at Vestal and serves most of the parkway near the town square mall.
  6. Interesting! 170Kbps = 21KB/s so, I guess not a huge upgrade from where we're at. But, 1x data should become a little harder to come by so I suppose there's not much to complain about.
  7. Still learning as I go, so bear with me... Once I have a full 800Mhz tower upgrade in my market, what would a 1x speedtest produce? As we all know, 1x data is just terrible, only achieving a few KB/s on the upload and download. And to clarify, 800Mhz upgrades are for 1x and LTE only, correct? Not normal 3G.
  8. AL33XC519 in Endwell, NY appears to be getting some work done today. A bunch of trucks at the base, and some town trucks in the road. Perhaps some more fiber....? I contacted the town and Sprint's building permit was approved on 6/10/13, so this very well might be NV. Look closely and you can see a man in both pictures. :-) It appeared he was running a cable up the tower, but I couldn't tell for sure.
  9. It will be a huge bummer if the iPhone 5S didn't get a tri-band chip in time for this If Sprint said the devices will be launching "Late 4Q" as said above, the iPhone's got no shot.
  10. Yup! I'm sure a lot of people are LEAVING sprint right now too, so it sort of benefits us both ways. Less customers to bog down the towers, but better quality towers to lure in new business. I feel bad for the uneducated that are dropping Sprint without knowing what's really about to happen!
  11. Upstate NY Central Status: GMO’s Under Way/Full Builds Site Deployment Beginning NV Sites Accepted = 57% LTE Sites Accepted = 0% Anticipated LTE Launch = TBD Original Scheduled Completion = Q1 2014 Current Production Rate Completion = January 2014 None of this being anywhere near Binghamton, correct? I'm dying here!
  12. Definitely, I wish their commercials got a bit more aggressive. This is faster than any of my friends' Verizon phones have EVER been. It's hard getting people to believe you that sprint's network will actually be of a better quality than Verizon in a year's time. (In most areas)
  13. Whoa, it's back! The speed was so quick that it seemed to *slam* into a cap at 300KB/s, is this the theoretical limit for whatever technology we are currently using?
  14. Lehigh street Home Depot was horrrrrible for me too, I'll check again later today maybe.
  15. Just got 1.8 down over at the Allentown wegmans, indoors. Not bad at all, maybe it is post network vision after all....or should it be even faster all said and done?
  16. I'm over near "Bicentennial" and got 2.2Mbps down 1Mbps up a few months ago, haven't seen it since though. Your speedtest results happen pretty regularly around this time of night for me, I haven't noticed a huge bump in speed since I was pulling down 300Kb/s a long time ago. Not sure why it was so fast, but it hasn't come back. Just now, 1.33 down 0.92 up. Pretty normal for me here. Not awful, but not network vision either I don't think?
  17. Nothing out of the ordinary going on here, the timeline for NV and LTE rollout is well documented on this website. It extends into early/mid 2014 for some markets. Read some of the stickied posts and you'll see that we're a 4th round market. (last)
  18. Check the Sensorly maps, it looks like Allentown is getting some blips of LTE in various places. Shouldn't be long now!
  19. This is a colossal waste of time. All efforts should be focused on the new operating system to stay on top of Apple's releases. The number of users staying on iOS6 for purely aesthetic reasons is MINISCULE compared to the amount of users that will be able to take advantage of an iOS7 jailbreak.
  20. Springtime bump for the Binghamton area! Fourth round market I've noticed some odd 1x areas (that are always 3G usually) the past few weeks around the Endicott/Endwell/Binghamton area recently, but no obvious NV speeds yet. Any word if work has progressed considerably around this area yet? LTE would be cool, but I'm not holding my breath just yet
  21. How are 3G speeds there? Has Allentown gotten any NV upgrades aside from LTE? Where Lehigh Street and 78 intersect is a complete Sprint dead zone. Not that there isn't any signal, because there is, but I think it's so congested from highway traffic the network is 100% unusable. Can't even run speedtests usually. The network gets better once I hit Emmaus, or go the opposite direction towards downtown Allentown.
  22. I'm not very familiar with the area yet, but I'm about half of a mile North of the Allentown Airport (Not LV International). Maybe only one of the towers was affected, or perhaps even after NV my tower is getting bogged down during the day? I'm sure as hell not getting 300KB/s down right now :-) 4AM was a different story.
  23. 3G in Allentown is absolutely blazing right now! Last week this exact location was completely bogged down. I would have full bars, but the backhaul seemed nonexistent. Network vision must be complete or nearing completion, I hope :-). Unfortunately I do not have an LTE device to test with.
