  1. Finally the update I have been waiting for ever since they rolled it out for the other SDC phone. Sprint has rolled out 5.51Q-117_PAX-63 These are the fixes / improvements - Improvements to Sprint Direct Connect, including UFMI blocking for privacy - Enhancement increases coverage area, Sprint Direct Connect now functions over 1x/roaming. - Improvements to Sprint Direct Connect, added functionality such as TeamDC and OptIn DC in call logs - Enhancement enables emergency broadcast support for improved safety and security. - Improvement to user experience when both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are in use. - Improvements to home screen so it is easier for a user to swipe the screen to unlock phone and answer calls. - Functionality for setting up or editing calendar events in which you invite others using Corporate Exchange is being removed. If this functionality is needed, please use the Moxier email client preloaded on the device. - Short Dialing to support Urban and Fleet IDs that match. Also it will let you use SDC when roaming but you need to enable data roaming in order to make that work. http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/93255?tstart=0 http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/459166#459166 Enjoy!
  2. I love my admiral. It does everything I need it to do. I have been putting my own sounds into it so that when messages come in or emails arrive it plays the tone I recorded for it. Unfortunately I have not been able to figure out where I should place the sounds that I want to show up as options for PTT alerts. It would be awesome if I got a PTT alert it would sound as if I had a Star Trek communicator or something like that. Does anyone know where I should place my sound files?
  3. Well they could support it in the sense of providing inside technical information and inside info, they know that S4GRU is impartial and a good forum for unbiased information.
  4. It goes along with HOT warnings in Hot coffee and the keep away from water for a electric appliances... and I thought humans were an intelligent species...
  5. It shouldn´t be, it can even run on 1X (on most phone with SDC)
  6. I haven't seen it here 14th and H.
  7. I agree with that. If I was Sprint I would wait until the last possible minute and come with their white (or green) horse to save the day, no need to be rash...
  8. Good info, now if I could only get Sprint to let me swamp that Duramax for a DuraXT. Any suggestions?
  9. Bummer... I have the Motorola Admiral, like the one in my picture. I was hoping someone had a more of an inside narrative to what happened.
  10. I´m still out as of right now. Do you know what happened? Also another question. Do you know why the service refuses to work while in 1X? I doubt it is a bandwidth limitation because it works if you are in a call (initiated in 3G) that drops down to 1X while in the call... but if the call times out you are stuck out of PTT until 3G comes back up (usually have to cycle the CDMA radio off and on for it to get 3G again cause of an open data session).
  11. Good morning, it appears that there is an outage of Sprint Direct Connect Service (not to be confused with Nextel Direct Connect). I contacted Sprint and they will acknowledge the issue but I did not get an ETA or a reason for the issue. I was hoping one of you could enlighten me to some degree. I mainly want to know why the service would go down and if I should expect that to be a regular occurrence while the service matures. Thanks.
  12. My phone jumps from roaming on Verizon to barely getting sprint. When I go to our storage area I'm roaming on verizon the whole time I am there, it is sad to say but I get higher speeds while roaming in the basement on Verizon 1X that while outside my building with excellent 3G sprint service. NV needs to hurry here.
  13. I was under the impression that repeaters somehow worked with each phone specifically as in connecting and patching through signal, because some units have a limit on how many phones they can handle. Was I mistaken?
  14. I have a similar issue where I work in 14th and New York. Many times my phone roams on Verizon when I get call if the call comes in at all. It seems Verizon has good coverage here so I know Sprint could improve theirs. Hopefully NV will solve that if NV hasn't come my way yet... Do you guys know if it has?
  15. I find more times than not my handset will wait until the signal around -105db before it switches and sometimes I see it have a good tower and then switch to a lower signal tower I saw this often while visiting Virginia Beach recently. This would more often than not drop my call or degrade it until it switch back to the closer (and higher signal) tower. This behavior has me baffled...
  16. Yup driving from Arlington on I66 from the exit to rt. 29 to past the Rosilyn Tunnel I dropped 5 calls with signal varying from full bars to no signal very quickly and it happened to be a very important client I was trying to get a hold of.
  17. Its a combination of financial need, specially on how hard it is to find decent work nowadays for young and inexperienced kids; and how naive those kids are thinking they can climb safely without safety harness. If you tell a kid who doesnt know better to climb a tower freestyle he will do it for a paycheck...
  18. We are very concentrated on speed of the network and speed of NV deployments but never really think of the people that are actually climbing to the towers and actually doing these upgrades. There was just a story that aired today on PBS that you might find and interesting view. I wonder what you guys think of it. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/cell-tower-deaths/
  19. I have been using, playing with and customizing my Motorola Admiral. I am able to add my own ringtones for just about everything except DC Alerts. I have been simply adding MP3 files under /Media/Audio/[notification, alerts, ringtones] I am guessing there is a fourth folder I could created for Direct Connect, is anyone familiar with what that might be? I want to add a Star trek communicator sound when I get alerts
