  1. We have been getting calls all day. I kinda wish it wasn't working for a bit around lunch today
  2. Remember that the pipe is the same size regardless of distance. If you pick up a signal 10 miles away but everyone inside those 10 miles is connected, you might get great signal but terrible speeds. There no free lunch here.
  3. The Kyocera phones work well enough and the Motorola admiral does a good job while being a pretty decent smart phone.
  4. This is daily performance I get out of my WIFI chip at my home's 50MB connections.
  5. hmm I only get 1900 CDMA coverage everywhere I have visited in Northern VA. eHRPD that is.
  6. 800 Mhz? or LTE? I have only seen 800mhz CDMA around dupont circle.
  7. The only one I have seen is on Dupont Circle in downtown DC.
  8. I just bought and HTC One and I was told that in 6 months I would be able to unlock it.
  9. Thankfully mine embraces my nerdiness
  10. Perhaps a feeler at first to see how it does on AT&T cause GSM chips in those bands are cheaper and if it does poorly they can backdown without drilling a hole in their pockets, that's my take.
  11. Dial ##873283# on your iphone to update the PRL
  12. But at least they spread the pain around more towers...
  13. Towers still get slaughtered during big events. Thus COWs show up...
  14. I never had it stuck at 1x when streaming. Also Google Voice apparently cannot SMS with my phone
  15. It is until you are somewhere where data is saturated and you keep getting timed out. SMS will always works in those cases.
  16. I have heard that before but how is that electrically possible? As signal degrades, doesn't it loose quality and as such wouldn't you loose data, lowering throughput?
  17. My thoughts exactly. Maybe its about time someone called in and told him that. What station is he on? Everyone actually texts over 1X even if you are in EVDO. Your phone actually switches to 1X briefly to send the text
  18. My understanding is that generally with sprint the issue of speed is more a backhaul issue rather than a coverage issue. So their internet pipe coming from the internet to the tower is not fast enough to service the number of users of the tower at really fast speeds to everyone gets pretty slow speeds. NV is meant to resolve that in part by adding better backhaul (faster pipe) and more efficient Tx/Rx equipment so coverage is improved. Anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong.
  19. Various carriers usually deploy COW type towers around the national mall when there are big events or over the summer because of the influx of people. I am guessing you are talking about more permanent towers.
  20. I don't know how I feel about that... Anyone has anymore insights? How would it affect sprint and other roaming partners? I understand that places like Europe has many more carriers that here.
