So does this need a carrier unlock from Sprint or should any Sprint G3 work with other carriers. ? Curious if I can take this phone to Europe without having to get Sprint to unlock it first.

When you say your phone can do this now, it's probably good to know for sure Where did you hear it's unlocked? Usually Sprint phone are unlocked for International SIMs but not for other domestic carriers. Also, from the LS990 specs, it doesn't appear that the Sprint G3 contains LTE bands for any other US carriers other than Sprint, so even if it was domestically unlocked , best we can get is 3G on other carriers. The Nexus 5 is unlocked for all carriers, and has the correct LTE bands for TMO, ATT. It would be great if you discover that the G3 is the same way, but from what I read, it's not.

Your G3 does what now? You can put a T-Mobile sim in a sprint G3 and it works? I'll have to try it with mine if that is true.

If you want a phone that works on Sprint and other GSM carriers get a nexus 5.
  6. In theory, speeds should improve even for single band devices, because band 25 will be less congested with tri-band phones connecting on band 41 and 26, freeing up space on 25.
  7. I went with the Well Fargo credit card plan as well, I applied for that card just for that reason, and my Sprint bill is the only thing I charge to it. One thing to consider, if my phone breaks, I need an immediate replacement, I can't go for days without a phone while it's sent off for repair. For this reason, I'll probably always keep my Nexus 5 as a "spare" phone so if my primary phone breaks and needs to be sent in for repair, I'm not without a phone while I wait.
  8. Grass isn't always greener. This was yesterday, downtown Phoenix, girlfriends iPhone 5S on AT&T LTE.

I'm in the same situation, so I'll try asking nice too when they deny me.
  11. There have been many times on Sprint that I've been unable to even stream a Spotify song, and being we are almost in 2015, it's pretty lame to still see "3G" on my phone 75%+ of the time in the nations 7th largest city. I've often saying screw it and switching to Tmobile, in fact I pay for their $30 prepaid plan on my Nexus 5 as kind of an extended "test drive." But I haven't switched, for the following reasons: 1. I see improvements in Sprint's service weekly, both actual experience, and what is posted to this site. 2. I like to travel and my T-Mobile prepaid phone often has zero bars when I'm out of populated areas. Not even 2G, just notta, nothing. 3. My co-workers have zero bars in at my work on the 1st floor, this is somewhat offset by wifi calling but it still sucks. 4. I don't want to give up unlimited data. Kind of useless now with speeds below 1mbps, but I believe as Spark comes online, unlimited data will be awesome. 5. I never drop calls on Sprint. I mean never. My brother is on Tmobile and says he drops calls all the time on the freeway. Sprint calling has been solid for me.

Seems like a minor cosmetic issue. My Samsung GS3 developed a similar crack and it never bothered me.
  13. Sprint is definitely listening on social media, especially twitter. Tweeting them about a local tower issue caused them call me up on the phone and request more information. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  14. Suddenly all MMS text messages are going to my gmail account.
  15. Are you guys on TMO seeing VOLTE work? Can it now handoff the call from wifi to volte as promised? My brother has a G3 on TMO and says he isn't seeing any VOLTE, but I thought it was supposed to be rolled out now to all their newer phones ? thanks for the info.

Anyone thinking about trading for a Note 4 when it comes out ?
  17. I owned a Netgear R7000 Nighthawk.. $200 AC wifi router. Ended up returning it because I would experience random outages on the 5ghz radio. My phone would still show that it was connected to wifi, but there was no internet access and I could not ping the 192.168.1.1 address of the router. After a few minutes, it would start to work again. It did this several times a day. I found a guy on youtube who had the exact same issue, during the demo/review he was doing. Netgear may good sometimes, but their R7000 is junk, and I would go ASUS if looking for a high end router..
  18. I've always believed that the best range extender is another AP flashed with DD-wrt. It can run in WDS mode or be a wifi client, many options. The best way to blanket the house with wifi is if you can pull a cat 5/6 cable between the wifi routers, and set them up with the same SSID but on different wireless channels. Your client will connect to whichever one has a stronger signal. Added hassle of pulling a cable, but if it can be done, it's worth it, if not, run in some kind of repeater mode.
  19. Make sure you get an 8 channel DOCSIS 3 modem, like the SB6141 people recommended.. Time warner should have a web page detailing their supported models, obviously make sure whatever you buy is on this list. As for router, spend $99 and get the T-mobile cellspot.. The will sell it to non-customers, and it's the best deal going for an AC router.

Put the apk up on Dropbox and pull it down to the phone with chrome, then just install it. No adb needed.
  21. T-mobile has made it clear that the router is for sale to anyone who wants to pay $99 for it, which is a great deal and anyone in the market for an AC router would be stupid to not strongly consider it. Also t-mobile did not attach any conditions of use to the router for people who buy vs lease, so there is no issue. If T-mobile wanted only their customers to buy it, they could easily limit sales to people with t-mobile accounts. I think it's a smart move, not a scumbag one. I'll buy it and use it for anything I want, it's an awesome deal on a great router.
  22. I just want a cheap router and I don't care about tmobile firmware because I'm a sprint customer. The router is actually $75 with an active promotion code on their Web site.
  23. If this tmo WiFi router can be flashed to dd-wrt I'm in for one, even at $100
