  1. A little anecdotal note on radio performance. I am currently a location with known poor coverage. We have 3 new phones - iPhone XS, XS Max, and LG V40. The iPhones are having no trouble picking up a usable LTE signal inside, but the V40 only connects to 3G unless I go outside, and the data is barely usable. It is band 26 LTE (800MHz) based on Signal Check on the V40 when I go outside and pick up the LTE signal. Actually now that I think about it, the V40 is probably on 1xrtt inside, not 3G, because Signal Check is showing 800 for both CDMA and LTE.

    LG V40 thread

Interesting.. I don't really know how to read the debug screens, but it would appear upload CA is enabled, though only one upload channel shows with the three download channels here. Any idea why the fast.com speed test would get a good upload speed at the same time the speedtest.net app doesn't? These screen shots are from tests taken moments apart and are repeatable.

    LG V40 thread

Anyone else buy a V40 yet? I'm a little surprised to not see any talk about it on here, since it's been available for several weeks now. Haven't had it long enough to really give a lot of thoughts on it yet. One thing I will say is it's the first phone with an AMOLED display I've played with that I have no complaints about the colors. As for RF performance, I haven't done much testing, but inside my house, the speedtest.net app has not performed well on uploads - like most tests showed 0Mbps. Fast.com shows what look like normal upload speeds - I can't remember exactly, and I lost my jnitial results when I reset the phone so I could restore a backup from my G5.
  4. I find the website, whether mobile or desktop, to be more cumbersome to navigate than Tapatalk. It's unfortunate that Tapatalk has been performing rather poorly lately. I blame Tapatalk app and plug-in changes for that.
  5. I'm confused by the iPhone 7 being in those lists and not the 8. I didn't think there were any major issues with the 8 compared to the 7.. did I miss something? I would think it's an old article if not for the G7, S9+, and Note 9..
  6. I never heard there was a settlement. I it has been so long since I had to send my 5X in, that my memory is fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure it was because it was bootlooping.. unfortunately I didn't get it repaired free because I had purchased Nexus Protect, so they made me pay the deductible. 7. For me it's only YouTube TV and now I've confirmed Play Movies. I'm thinking the DRM theory may be right on the money, or at least something related that the apps have to do.
  8. Wow great info thanks. I wondered if it might be DRM related, since YouTube is fine but YTTV isn't, but I hadn't looked further. I tried out Play Movies this afternoon, and it took a bit longer (Deadpool almost had time to start killing.. [emoji16]) but my phone did restart.
  9. Ok I guess I panicked when the whole first page of the guide was on-demand only.. it looks like it is just my local channels. One other problem I've found is the YouTube TV app makes my G5 restart after a few minutes. It's done it every single time I've tried to use it on this phone. Not just today. The first time it happened, I thought it was just because my battery was low, but found soon the battery level doesn't matter. Good thing I brought my Nexus 5X with me too. [emoji14]
  10. Got an email saying they finally added local fox stations in a handful of markets, including mine. I discovered something I do not like though.. I can't watch a lot of channels when I'm out of town! [emoji35] and a bunch are on-demand only.
  11. On eBay. Not more negative than positive, but averaging 10 negative per month over the last year seems like a lot to me.
  12. Cellularstream has an awful lot of negative feedback from people saying they got locked phones. I take it you've not had any problems? I'm thinking of picking up a cheap G5 to use for a while until I can justify a new flagship phone..

    LG G7 ThinQ

Has LG finally gotten past the boot loop problems? I've been afraid to buy anything after the G series and Nexus 5X boot loop issues..
  14. Still rocking the Palm Pre, and still getting a good EVDO signal. Except inside the KC convention center today.. holy cow, you'd think it was made of concrete or something! I was starting to doubt it really supported 800Mhz, but I opened the debug screen and saw it going back and forth between 800 and 1900 trying to latch onto a signal. I kept it in airplane mode most of the day.. newer Sprint phones didn't seem to be having issues, which didn't surprise me at all.
  15. Anecdotal reply: I reactivated my Palm Pre over the weekend and have had no problems with EVDO around the KC metro. I'm going to carry it for a few weeks as my primary. #webosforever
  16. Sprint version for $300?! edit: Doh sorry, I misread.. $300 OFF
  17. LOL come on. I'd like to think they would make improvements in their next model.
  18. I really hate to see that. We need more choices, not fewer!
  19. I'm just about ready to pay off my lease and return mine.. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  20. Still waiting.... I'm just about convinced it will never happen. It's getting bare minimum security updates and that's it. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  21. You'd think having a thousand different models wouldn't create a software update nightmare for them. But honestly, I bet they spend very little time on updates for their low-end models. I wonder how many never even get a single update.. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  22. Translation: it doesn't work in Tapatalk, so the forum must not be working right. LOL. Or he immediately got blocked thanks to their crappy code. Oh that would be precious.. [emoji48]
  23. I think their "Tapatalk ID" scheme is behind it. They want to be the center of your forum universe, creating all of your accounts through them. On a freshly flashed device, I installed the latest Tapatalk version, logged in, and was immediately blocked by the site. Their centralized (in the app) notification center pings all of your stored forums for notifications, messages, posts, etc when it loads or after you log in the first time. I don't know if the Pro version of the app does anything differently, but I was able to open it and log in to the forum after opening it, after disconnecting WiFi (I was on my home WiFi during my initial login and block.)
