  1. Did he order it through Best Buy?
  2. Grabbed this from the LG G Flex video but it looks like it is going to have the same multiwindow feature as Samsung which LG calls Dual Window. I really liked the Samsung multiwindow implementation. I hope to see this feature brought to the LG G2 in the Android 4.4 KitKat update. Watch from the 0:50 - 1:20 mark. Lets just say the Qslide applications is a poor alternative to the multiwindow feature.
  3. Not familiar with the iPhone but the way you do it on the LG and Samsung phones is through the dialer code ##DATA# (##3282#) to enable/disable the LTE bands. Not sure if Apple has dialer codes and if it does its probably some obscure dialer code. I am probably not the best person to answer this question since I don't know what Apple has done in the past. I would like to know so that I can help friends out who have the Sprint iPhone.
  4. To view the Engineering menus, you don't need your MSL. You just need to dial ##DEBUG# (##33284#) and go to LTE Engineering menu and it will tell you the LTE band you are connected to. In terms of not even typing DEBUG dialer code, it seems like only HTC phones have a built in function that Mike was able to extract for his SignalCheck app that can read the DL and UL frequencies you are connected to for LTE that can hint you at the LTE Band. Unfortunately, my efforts to make shortcuts to the ##DEBUG# and ##DATA# menus have failed since it tells me that I do not have the appropriate user rights to make the shortcut. Lame because I can access them via the dialer code. It would be much simpler if I could have shortcuts on my home screen instead of having to type it out each time. You only need your MSL if you want to enable/disable LTE bands in the dialer code ##DATA# (##3282#).
  5. My phone is set to LTE/CDMA network mode but I don't have LTE in the area near my house so it doesn't interfere. But I wonder if its because I am near the edge of the faux Mexican IBEZ zone where they stopped deploying 800 MHz CDMA/LTE. I wonder if I went up towards the Pasadena area if I would get a more consistent 1x800 signal.
  6. I wouldn't stress too much on the actual signal level LTE drops off at that you read on SignalCheck. Signal varies so much in real time that for a split second it could have read -120+ dBm and that was what was enough to drop the LTE connection. Who knows what the hard number Sprint has configured on the NV towers to drop the LTE connection and force it back to 3G.
  7. Awesome. All I need to do is make it into a shape of a G and I am straight.
  8. Speaking of SIM remover tool, does a paper clip work? I still wish Sprint included the G sim remover tool like they did in the ATT and Verizon versions.
  9. I think the timing of the article was more to do with Samsung coming out with their Q2 earnings CC which released their GS4 sales numbers which presented less than expected shipment of sales. The article must have been written a day or 2 after the earnings release but just somehow coincided with Sprint's internal plan to have a BOGO promotion. I wouldn't spend time dissecting the timing of when both those events occurred. Whats done is done and at this point, I just think that the GS4 triband delay is just due to Sprint wanting to space out the release of the triband LTE devices to give these other phones some sales. Sprint has released 5 triband LTE devices in 2 weeks. I think a little breather is warranted. An early December release would be perfect timing for a GS4 triband refresh.
  10. Technically 2 B41 LTE towers. Sorry I forgot to mention the other one. I just haven't gone out to test out more B41 LTE towers since they are not along my route. I have confidence that it should work on the B41 LTE towers in the LA/OC area that have been approved so far.
  11. I have the LG G2 right now. I flashed the 513 PRL. What I am noticing is that the 1x800 tower I get connected to according to the SignalCheck BSL feature is far out but its still within the LA area. If I do a Reset Data Connection on SignalCheck I would find 1x800 and it would stay for like maybe 20-30 seconds and then it would switch back to 1xRTT.
  12. Hmm that is interesting. I wish I could tell other S4GRU members on this forum to test the same confirmed B41 LTE tower in LA/OC to see if they can connect on B41 LTE with their Nexus 5.
  13. So if the 1x800 test SIDs of 22XXX can't find EVDO SIDs that are linked to the 1x800 test sids, it drops the connection? I just want to know when Sprint plans to make 1x800 sites accessible for the masses to use on a consistent basis.
  14. That explanation seems plausible to me. Its not like -126 dBm is a good signal anyways. I think the reason to set the threshold lower is to make it appear as if you have 4G LTE for a much wider coverage than expected if restricted to one LTE band. In reality you LTE signal has probably dropped off from a usable point by -120 dBm. Btw, did you find any B26 LTE? Right now I just left B25 LTE enabled since I am done with my B41 LTE testing and haven't seen any confirmation of where B26 LTE is appearing. We definitely need the Sprint Spark OTA for more stability when testing the B26 and B41 LTE bands.
  15. Anyone that flashed either Sponsor or Premier Sponsor PRL getting 1x800 CDMA to stick? For me 1x800 keeps bouncing in and out that my 1x800 audio alerts on SignalCheck got annoying that I had to turn it off.
  16. Awesome glad to hear the eCSFB issues are being resolved so that more folks get LTE. I hope by the end of the year, a lot of these issues in other markets are resolved.
  17. Well test it more and if you have issues, then exchange it for another one.
  18. My point of my post was to play devils advocate and to get you to stop focusing on that article which by the way is several months old and think outside of the box that the BOGO summer promotion was not due to poor GS4 sales but rather a vehicle as a way to drive more Sprint service subscriptions by offering their most popular smartphone. I wasn't trying to butt heads with you. Sure increased GS4 sales is a secondary benefit of the BOGO promotion but I saw the primary goal of the BOGO promotion was to get more Sprint service subscriptions. You are correct in that we both are speculating and there could very well be a glut in December but I think Sprint is smart enough to forecast this back in July/August if sales really slowed down. I doubt Sprint or any carrier preorders a massive order 3 months of new GS4's especially in Sprint's case if internally they intended to upgrade the GS4 later on in the year to be triband LTE.
  19. Is this on every call or just your first call? It is kinda silly to exchange it if you only experience it once.
  20. No I disagree. You are thinking of it backwards. You are assuming that they are doing BOGO on the GS4 because GS4 sales are bad and are trying to find a way to sell more. I tend to think that Sprint did BOGO promotion on the GS4 because it is the most popular smartphone and a BOGO promotion is the key attraction to get least 2 customers to join Sprint. If 2 customers in a family both want a GS4, then they can join Sprint and only pay $100 each vs. $199 or $249 for each one on another carrier. This is also not on top of $100 in savings for porting over your line from another carrier. The purpose of the BOGO promotion on the GS4 is to help acquire new Sprint subscribers since based on the quarterly statements that Sprint has been losing customers not only because of iDEN but simply some are fed up with the Network Vision progress.
  21. When I go to Sprint stores, I still see a lot of people still opting to get the GS4 or iPhones. Most people don't even know about a triband S4.
  22. Yeah but don't confuse the overall GS4 sales with other carriers to be reflective of those on Sprint. Keep in mind there were a ton of Wimax customers like myself that are coming off of our 2 year contracts in 2011 which were dying to switch to LTE phones due to getting faster 4G speeds but also better battery life. Anyone with a Wimax phone would know how poor the battery life was on 4G. I think the GS4 sales on Sprint have been great and not to mention that during all of this summer, Sprint was promoting a BOGO free promotion on the GS4. There are still plenty of folks out there that still want the GS4 out there and are dying to get their hands on one with triband LTE.
  23. I don't get the hissing sound. Is this consistent on every single phone call?
