  1. Interesting thoughts about what the board must think of Hesse. Sprint is caught between the frying pan and the fire. Have some decisions been questionable? Yes. But Sprint's network and operations went through years of neglect which was caused by Forsee's decisions that Hesse inherited. Overall I'm pleased with the turnaround Hesse has done. CS is better and it seems that the direction of the organization has turned for the better with some hiccups along the way and some more to face in the near future. Now Sprint has to spend money it doesn't have to fix things. If Hesse is still around when NV is complete, I think it will provide some vindication. He has made some stupid decisions with Clearwire and I still believe that Sprint should just take control of it. The Metro PCS deal seemed questionable, but we don't have any facts to make a realistic assessment. Maybe Sprint had to make a deal with the devil (Oops, I mean Apple) to get the iPhone. Again, since Sprint/Hesse aren't really transparant with the reasoning of its decisions we'll have to wait to see how it plays out. I don't really like how Hesse has changed policys from removing discounts, changing programs and increaseing fees to soak us for every nickel and dime, but I understand why.
  2. Looks like ICS is finally rolling out to the carrier-free/international versions of the GSll. Hopefully it will come out soon for the U.S. carriers. http://www.engadget....wich-for-galax/
  3. I expect as we get closer to the April/May time frame we will see more of these specials.
  4. Good point. The carriers need options, but they should also be required to update in a timely manner IMO.
  5. Sanyo Katana - Because I only had a voice plan then. Great flip phone and reception, just not as cool as a Razr. BB Curve - First smartphone and fell in love with the keyboard, I finally enjoyed texting. Got it when Sprint first came out with the 1500 Everything family plan. It wasn't until my next phone that I learned how much BB's browser sucked. HTC Hero - Sprint's first Android phone. Was ok for a while. HTC built it with off the shelf parts and a old processor, so it never was built for android, they just had to get something on the market I guess. Liked it more when I had CM7 on it. HTC EVO - Finally my first phone made for Android. Got it, loved it, rooted it, wished I kept it. NS4G - Thought I be cute and get this so I would get ICS before everyone else. I'm still waiting. On to rooting. Like this as much as the EVO.
  6. Hmm? Looks like Moto is taking care of Asia and the older phones and tablets first. Makes sense in a weird way. I wonder why the U.S. or North America is getting to be the last one to get updates on new phones or new debut devices? Have we sunk in prestige that much? Or is it the worlds way of giving us the finger?
  7. Typical Apple, see an idea in the market, file a patent to claim the rights. Trying to be like MS and get most of their income from royalties.
  8. Sprint has an agreement w/ Clear to sell its services as a package with Sprints Network. Someone in marketing needs to start getting the word out.
  9. Now that LS2 is as good as dead (unless it gets an Easter resurrection), I think a lot of ex-LS2 customers are sitting on the fence to see if Clearwire will make it and how big it's network will be next year before committing.
  10. There may be some reasoning to that. Although I'm not familiar with AT&T's coverage in it's different flavors, they could be targeting markets that have not had any upgrades to the network and bringing them up to speed before hitting the established ones that already have HSPA and HSPA+.
  11. I'm sure everyone has heard that the PRC has delayed issuing TD-LTE licenses for "up to three years" while it requires carriers to upgrade its infrastructure and vendors to have capable devices. Clearwire said it is going ahead with it's plans to deploy TD-LTE in the U.S. Did they have any other choice? Quote: Fiercewireless said: "Clearwire has said it expects to deploy its first wave of 5,000 TDD-LTE cell sites by June 2013. Clearwire has been working with Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S), its majority owner and largest wholesale customer, to identify sites for Clearwire's planned TDD-LTE network. Clearwire is looking to deploy its LTE Advanced-ready TDD-LTE network mainly in urban areas, where traffic is heaviest." http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/clearwire-unfazed-chinese-delay-td-lte-licenses/2012-03-12
  12. As we all have seen, AT&T's logic can be frazzled at times. What does economies of scale and increasing coverage to maximize revenue mean to the Death Star?
  13. I would like to see a parallel study to see Sprints impact on NASCAR venues.
