GMO Site Discussion (Ground Mount Option)
RAvirani replied to mirskyc's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
GMOs cannot do a second carrier or 10x10 in Samsung markets. Confirmed by a Samsung engineer. -
My phone as well seems to hold a USCC LTE connection even when Sprint 1x is available.

You do realize their rebanding deadline is Jan '17 right

Here B25 drops when 3G is at -98 and in some cases -100. I am confident that with this set up and optimization, B26 will be able to eclipse the range of 3G or at the very least, match it.

Are you able to disclose what website it is?

Band 5 LTE is live in Seattle on AT&T. Now they have 10x10 B17 EARFCN 5780, 10x10 B5 EARFCN 2425 and 10x10 PCS EARFCN 800. Will post a screenshot in a bit.

Ok so I've confirmed that there is some form of SRVCC running on Sprint's network as of today. Today, as I left a friends house, a call I was on handed off from a wifi call to the macro network without dropping. It didn't occur to me at the time but I messed with it a bit later and found that the call handed off successfully from wifi to the macro network about 90% of the time. Also btw I have an iPhone 6S. I took a video of this happening with my ipad although I am not entirely sure how I should upload it. If anyone has any suggestions or comments I'm all ears.

I don't believe wifi to macro is possible without VoLTE (but there are rumors of a sprint VoLTE launch in mid september). Kind of funny how wifi to LTE handoff is possible and LTE to CDMA handoff is possible (with SIB13 on the network) but wifi to CDMA handoff is not possible (at least as far as I know).

It's in iOS 10 which will be released to the general public next month.

I had my first sub 30mbps speedtest in the last year or so today. -118 on a 10x10 B25 carrier.

Hey guys I thought I'd just share something that I observed with the latest iOS beta - I think Sprint has managed to implement some form of SIB13 in their network where the network instructs the device when to hand over to the CDMA network. Before this beta, when I would drop LTE, I would momentarily drop data before my phone picked up 1x and then switched to 3G. If I were running a speed test while I dropped LTE, it would fail. As of yesterday, when my phone drops LTE, it goes straight to 3G, without ever dropping the data connection or connecting to 1x. I ran a speedtest in a low signal area (-118 B25) and blocked the signal to the phone with my hands about 5 seconds through the test. The phone handed down to 3G and the data session was not interrupted - the speedtest continued. Im not sure but I think that this is probably in preparation for VoLTE. Thoughts anyone?

Yea speeds are good when you have LTE. I can't remember the last time I pulled sub 30mbps on LTE. The problem is that LTE isn't everywhere. Seattle probably has the most challenging terrain of any metro - lots of hills and very dense tall trees. I end up on 3G every so often and the speeds aren't great. That being said, 3G is usable. I can only imagine what B26 would be like here. Sprint has optimized the hell out of LTE here so B25 usually dies with 3G at -98 or so. With B26, I don't think we'd ever drop LTE. AT&T is the undisputed best here with Sprint following closely in second. Once 800mhz is deployed, I think sprint will be the #1 network in Seattle.

You are correct, very small market share. Haven't spotted any small cells but I've been too busy recently to look.

I'm sure money is a part of the problem but Sprint wouldn't leave one of the largest metros in the United States without 800mhz...there must be something else...

Canada isn't the problem. I can't seem to get what it really is out of them.
