  1. What do you mean? Sprint already has the nationwide PCS G block and is currently deploying LTE on it.

  3. Articles like this out there in the blogosphere are dangerous for Sprint. Karl usually skews positively towards Verizon, but statements like these: "Last week we noted that Sprint's LTE launch left a little something to be desired, with the company saying they'd launched in fifteen markets -- but users who live in those markets being hard pressed to find any actual LTE signal. .." are borderline irresponsible imho. I think it would have been just as easy and likely more accurate to simply state that SOME users have been having trouble connecting to Sprint's nascent LTE network. I suppose that's not sensationalist enough though...I'm surprised that he didn't throw in his opinion that Sprint will soon be ending unlimited data as that's been his personal crusade lately whenever he runs any kind of story about Sprint. And look at the comments. The Romney sycophant is already talking about Sprint's LTE network is just like WiMAX even though, as everyone here already knows, that's wholly inaccurate as the two networks use disparate spectrum. That's the beauty of the internet though; everyone is allowed to express an opinion no matter how uneducated it is. Though thankfully iansltx corrected him, blog pieces like this just foster more and more of these types of opinions. For some reason when it comes to Sprint so many seem to want the underdog to fail which is counterintuitive to me. Some might say that the US wireless market is a de facto duopoly. Inexplicably, it seems like some want that to turn into an ACTUAL duopoly. Madness...
  4. I got one of these CMAS alerts on my Evo 3D for a flood warning a week or two ago. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
  5. There's no indication that I know of that Sprint plans to put EV-DO on their 800MHz spectrum, just 1x Advanced. With them planning to also put a 5x5 carrier of LTE on that spectrum, there simply isn't room for a 1x Advanced carrier and an EV-DO carrier.
  6. The exciting thing is that this is just the beginning! Assuming that they keep scaling their backhaul upwards, I don't see why they can't maintain excellent speeds as they add LTD on 800 and 2500. The next couple of years in telecom are going to be exciting...for all of the major carriers. Sent from my PG41200 using Tapatalk 2
  7. It's too bad Clearwire doesn't have the deep pockets of China Mobile. I wonder what kind of coverage they could achieve here in the states with 200,000 TD-LTE base stations.
  8. That is interesting. I've known people who have done something similar with DirecTV & Dish....Anyway, if I'm understanding AT&T's plans correctly, such an 8 smartphone plan would come to $440 plus taxes & fees so a little over $55 per line. Each line would get 2.5GB of data per month. That scenario, admittedly, ain't half bad. The rub is in the bolded part, of course. Whoever is the one that sets up the account is ultimately on the hook for everything. So one or more people could go hog wild on the data or go overseas and rack up a huge international roaming bill. What recourse would the account holder have? I suppose instead of total strangers one could do this with friends and extended family, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. Of course, doing business with friends and family is often perilous in it's own ways. I wonder if there will be anything in the T&Cs that specifically prohibit strangers from forming these kinds of wireless co-ops.
  9. http://www.att.com/s...C0000PP100000JD Looking pretty similar to VZW's plans, not surprisingly. A few more options than VZW. A bit more expensive than VZW in some scenarios, a little less expensive in others.
  10. They're committed to WiMAX until 2015. Besides they have more than enough spectrum to run LTE and WiMAX concurrently and they're getting mileage out of WiMAX via Virgin and Boost. There's no reason to be in a rush to put it out to pasture. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
  11. I'd guess that the amount would be negligible since LTE is going on existing WiMAX sites. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
  12. The article that you linked had 21 comments. This one: http://www.extremetech.com/electronics/129995-fcc-approves-3g-and-4g had 18 comments. I think "hardly noticed" is a bit of an overstatement.
  13. In light of AJ's irrefutable logic, I decided to delete the comment that I was just about to submit lol Sent from my PG41200 using Tapatalk 2
  14. One can only hope... Sent from my PG41200 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Shame on HTC and Sprint. They've taken so long on the ICS update for these devices that they succeeded in making Samsung look quick by comparison. Never a good thing. Sent from my PG41200 using Tapatalk 2
  16. Was just reading another article from the same author: http://www.extremetech.com/electronics/131241-t-mobile-makes-great-progress-on-network-upgrade-begins-lte-trials This guy's a real winner...
  17. Seems like what you're working with is mostly hearsay. Just sayin'....
  18. The way I've been reading about people abusing this lately, I think they should start enforcing the ETF.
