    wimax

Sprint and crearwire have committed to keeping WiMax running until 2015. Sprint is currently selling WiMax phones on both their postpaid and prepaid networks now, so they will not be abandoning it that soon. From JBtoro on Forum Runner
  2. Those are the band aid fixes. Network vision is not starting in Oklahoma until the late 2nd or early 3rd round From JBtoro on Forum Runner
  3. You can make the s4gru club a favorite and get in that way, or you can use forum runner. From JBtoro on Forum Runner
  4. The iPhone was a big thing for sprint to add/keep customers. Look at t mobile. They are bleeding customers like crazy. Not just because they don't have the iphone, but it is partially responsible. As a major carrier, to not carry the largest selling model of phone is not good for business. The subsidy difference is blown way out of proportion. Its like $50 over 20 months... From JBtoro on Forum Runner
  5. They lost 75% over the last 4.5 years, they kept 60% this last quarter. The towers held up by birds are not necessarily the same as those held up by hackhaul...
  6. The tower is probably still blocked then...

    Nexus 7

OK, I had originally thought I could go without a cover on the Nexus 7, until I found the Poetic Slimbook cover on Amazon for under $7 shipped. The case has not disappointed at all, but how can you for disappoint for $6.95? The smart cover capabilities work great and are a nice feature (see attached video for a short demonstration). The cover is held in place with magnets that fit firmly, but not too firm, you can hear the magnets snap in the video too. The case adds some weight and girth to the tablet, but compared to previous tablet cases I have had for my previous tablets, one being an otterbox, it is really minimally invasive. The leather and stitching seem high quality, as well as the hand strap. All ports, buttons, speaker and camera are open and accessible. The volume rocker and power button are a little tougher to access since the side of the nexus has a curve to it, but with smart cover tech, I can't see myself using them that terrible much. The hand strap works well and the "kickstand" abilities of this case work better than my other leather case that I had for the Kindle Fire. The case appears to be able to withstand a fall and give protection to the N7. The edges have leather protruding outward, which should cushion the fall if it lands on a side or corner, and the case has a little padding if it falls flat on the front or back. http://www.amazon.co...x_ya_os_product All in all, it is a great value for $6.95 and probably still worth it for $12.95 which it has shot up to now. It will be good for me until something cool comes out, like a case with a backup battery, microSD slot and USB port or something like that... 8. LOL, I was amazed that it would be that big of a problem when they mentioned it.... Several hundred??? was my thought. So I figured it could use a mention in the article.
  9. I buy cheapo phones and leave my smartphone at home. I don't trust anyone around touristy places, and they probably are not going to steal a $29 nokia... Edit: like this http://www.amazon.com/Q51-Violet-Unlocked-Quad-Band-QWERTY/dp/B00713IWAO/ref=sr_1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1343338506&sr=1-4
  10. So far, sites have been blocked until market launch. There is some time yet for MN and they might change the strategy...

    Nexus 7

Third test is complete. I used a microSD with a USB adapter and got 5 and a half hours on a charge. So far the results have been: Internal Media - 7+ hours microSD with USB adapter - 5.5 hours External HD - 3.5 hours Now, disclaimer, this is informal testing. I have been using a variety of movies with different compression and formats. It is just a generalization. I just got my cover in the mail today, so I will be reviewing that and conducting my thumbdrive test later today.
  12. While Sprint international roaming may not be optimal for many people in this forum with advanced knowledge there are a LOT of international travelors who are less concerned with cost of the minutes they use while traveling and more concerned with not having to mess around with buying a prepaid sim for their phone and then worrying about coverage areas and all of that. There are dirt cheap phones that can be used all over the place when traveling. Many people also don't want to have to risk theft of their brand new $600+ retail phone when overseas. International roaming is mostly aimed at business travelers who expense the cost anyway. Just like tethering has been aimed at business costomers for years.
  13. Welcome to S4GRU JJ. I believe your question can be answered in this thread. http://s4gru.com/ind...connect-outage/ in the future, please utilize the search function or browse the forums. I will move these posts to the SDC outage thread once you respond that you are tracking. Thanks. Scott-Moderator Edit: ballman beat me... LOL
  14. They did touch on it. They said wimax was still in the single digit percentage for prepaid. With the E4GT and Evo 3D making their way to boost and virgin, that percentage should go up significantly. Sent from my Nexus 7 (nakasi) using Forum Runner
  15. Who wants to bet on if the bootloader is locked down tight... Sad
  16. Unfortunately, they did not go in depth about the Photon Q 4G LTE in the conference call. I would expect to see details coming out soon though since Mr. Hesse let the cat out of the bag.
  17. Oh, I misunderstood. I think it could be misunderstood by the average customer that says "Manhattan KS is getting LTE and I'm here in NYC and don't have LTE?" But I don't know what else Sprint can do. Verizon is announcing every city that they throw up a LTE tower, and then they announce it again when they go back to thicken coverage and make the LTE signal more usable. They could stick to their guns and stick to "markets" or they can start piling up the cities and be able to say "LTE in 19 cities and expanding"
  18. Could be partially due to them not offering insurance on the iPhone, so applecare takes care of a lot of the device-related customer support.
  19. What do you consider a "major market"? Houston is the 4th largest US city, San Antonio is the 7th largest, Dallas is the 9th Largest and work is underway in the top 3 US cities of New York, LA and Chicago. Sounds like major markets to me.
  20. Thanks for the find, I am going to integrate that into the article on the wall.
  21. Motorola Q will be a slider. It was confirmed in the investor call. It will be launching "soon"
  22. It does take microSD and supports USB OTG...
