  1. Thanks Ascertion! It worked. The GPS receiving strength is so good now that I don't even have to be outside to get a lock. I was in the middle of my house away from the windows and the G2 got a lock and accuracy of 16 feet. I also tried an app called "GPS Status Test and Fix - No Adds", which has a reset GPS button. So I wonder what is causing the problem. There must be corrupt data in the GPS cache or something that this app clears out. Now I'm wondering if I should still send the G2 back to be repaired?
  2. Which "GPS Status" app did you download from Google Play? I'm going to try that as well and see if it jump starts the GPS. There is quite a few apps, just want to make sure that I get the same exact app that you used. Thanks Ascertion!
  3. Thanks for the update. I'm going to send it back next week. I purchased a brand new sealed LG G3 on ebay. Really wanted a Note 4, but my upgrade isn't until July 2015, so it would cost full price. Hopefully the G3 will have decent call quality and great RF performance. I'm really impressed with the call quality of the G2 after all the updates. It probably sounds better than my Note 3 - it's just the stupid GPS keeps failing.
  4. Unfortunately that is true! The Sprint network here in Harrisburg is really getting awesome. Signal levels (dBm) are up in many new places each day. Places where you had a difficult time getting a signal are now strong. Band 25 and Band 26.
  5. I missed Robert's comment on the GN4. That's disappointing. Top of the line phone, middle of the road RF performance. One would think these manufacturers would strive to be the best.
  6. Ascertion, Is your GPS still working? I just contacted LG to send mine back for the GPS repair again. At least this time they sent me a pre-paid FedEx label for shipping.
  7. Verizon has their preorder page up as well.
  8. You brought up some very fine examples of Sprint driving and Shentel lagging! The tech to whom I spoke made it sound like band 41 was in the works and ready to be implemented now. I assumed a few months at best... He stated they were going around to towers getting them prepped. That must have been incorrect.
  9. I agree. My experience with Shentel has been amazing! Too bad Shentel doesn't run the entire Sprint network throughout the country. We would be so much further along. I think that Sprint sometimes actually holds Shentel back on some progress they could make. I was talking to a Shentel person a few days ago on my lunchtime walk in the industrial park where I work. That gentleman said Shentel has new boards ready that can handle 3 carriers each, but Sprint is not yet ready for them. You can really notice a difference in network performance when you travel outside of a Shentel area. Way to go Shentel. Awesome Job!
  10. Even worse, I remember when that commercial originally aired! They also had a commercial that showed the Trofeo phone calling the owner during an attempted theft.
  11. That's enough to make you NOT want to buy the car.
  12. Back in 1991 I ordered a brand new Oldsmobile Trofeo. It had a Sony Trinitron CRT touchscreen in the dash. Back then, when you hit the navigation button, a compus came up on the screen. This system had a factory built in Motorola wired cell phone with an antenna installed on the back window glass. The system could be used either with the on-screen controls or by picking up the handset which folded out of the center console storage compartment. When the phone rang, the volume on the stereo would lower, so you could take the "hands free" call. The transceiver for the phone was mounted under the rear parcel shelf in the trunk of the Trofeo. To answer your question about reception: YES, The reception was much better than today's handheld cell phones. The output power was 3 watts as compared to today's 0.6 watts on the handheld units. The Oldsmobile Trofeo was light years ahead of its time. Using the CRT, you could arm the theft-deterrent system. When the car was started, the CRT would ask for a security code. If the code was not entered, the Motorola phone would dial a preselected number and report a theft in progress. Man, I miss that car!
  13. Possibly so, if we can get transferred to the appropriate department. Shentel takes their network performance very seriously! At Sprint, the call may be "forgotten about" as soon as we hang up. I guess it's up to each individual CSR to follow up on the report.
  14. Alright then... This is most definitely a Shentel issue. I called and reported it to Sprint Friday evening. Sprint may not have passed it along to the appropriate field engineer. Or else, it's just low priority. My girlfriend was late this morning because of it as well! More people should start calling to report the issue. Maybe then it will get bumped up a few notches!
  15. Yeah, that's a good point. So far only Samsung users have reported issues. The phone is correct until it falls back to 3G to receive or place a call. This only started towards the later part of last week. Hopefully Samsung didn't screw something up with an update that started all this nonsense. All the time stamps are incorrect on my incoming and outgoing email as well. I wish I knew why, when and how the phones are supposed to sync time over LTE.
  16. I'm in Harrisburg right now. My phone system time is still 1 hour behind. The weather widget is displaying the correct time though. My girlfriend's phone (S4T) in Hummelstown has the same issues as mine. System time behind by one hour and weather widget correct. The phone system time will eventually correct itself, but falls back one hour when a call is placed or received. I'm not sure how the whole time sync thing works on LTE. Don't know how often it syncs, why or when.
  17. Well, I retract my statement above that the time is now correct. It's still 1 hour behind. For whatever reason the weather widget is showing the correct time. The phone system time is behind by an hour. My girlfriend's S4T is behaving the exact same way. Hmmmm?
  18. I reported the incorrect time issue to Sprint last evening around 5:45 pm. Just tried it now, and all was well. Apparently the word was passed along to Shentel , who took action. At least the Harrisburg area appears good now. It's interesting that time for 3G and LTE come from separate sources.
  19. My girlfriend's Samsung S4T had the same problem as well tonight. I called Sprint and reported the issue. Hopefully they will let Shentel know there is a problem so it can be corrected.
  20. Thanks for the replies. I'm in the Hershey PA area right now and the problem exists here as well. There must be an entire cluster of Shentel towers with this problem. When my girlfriend gets home from work today, I'll check her Samsung S4T. If her phone exhibits the problem as well, I'll contact Sprint.
  21. I do have the app, but you are limited to a dropdown list with pre-selected issues. There was no "other" choice for a problem not listed.
  22. That's what I thought, but upon a fresh boot the phone is on LTE. Only when it falls back to 3G does the time get messed up. Does LTE and 3G broadcast separate times?
  23. I am experiencing a very strange issue on my Samsung Galaxy Mega Tri Band Phone. I have searched the forums before posting this, and found no similar issues. Please forgive me if this was already posted elsewhere. Upon a fresh boot, my Samsung Galaxy Mega displays the correct time. When I place a call, the time falls back 1 hour. I'm not exactly sure how a cell phone grabs the time from the cellular system, but it appears that when my phone falls back to 3G for the call, the time resets to what the Shentel tower is broadcasting on 3G. Are there separate time coordinations for LTE and 3G? I can set the time manually to avoid the error, but that defeats the whole purpose of accurate time. Does anyone else have this issue in the Harrisburg area? Has anyone else ever experienced this? Maybe when the Mega falls back to take the call it interprets that literally as the end of daylight saving time and it "Falls Back" one hour! Thinks EDIT: This phenomenon happens when receiving a call as well. As long as the phone falls back to 3G for a call, the time falls back one hour as well. The only way to correct the time is to manually set it or reboot the phone.
