  1. Did you call and report it? My girlfriend and I have been having quite a few phone calls to each other where it's just dead air - neither one of us has any sound in the call but we stay connected. We have to keep disconnecting and calling again until we get a call with sound. Possibly an HD voice issue? Anyone else experiencing this in the Shentel area?

I'll have to dig around and see if I can find that post, I would enjoy reading it. I have read so many different schools of thought on this subject. Being a chemist by profession, I understand the reactions and mechanisms that take place with the different ions, elements and metals that are used to manufacture batteries. We analyze this stuff every day in the lab where I work. The only place I can really foresee a problem is when the battery enters into the state of deep discharge for a prolonged period of time. I have had really great success conditioning new batteries by letting them discharge to the point of device shut-off for the first few cycles. Just yesterday I had 2.5 hours of screen on time and 23 minutes of phone calls on my G3 with total use time on the battery of 43 hours and the device still reported 47% battery left. That was using the YAAB app for auto brightness - which I keep the minimum brightness level pretty high. I have used this battery conditioning method on my Note 3, Galaxy Mega and G2 all with similar results. I certainly would not want anyone to ruin, or potentially ruin their battery, but it sure works for me.... I'll try and find the article that you spoke of as well. Enough said!

Sorry, but I disagree with this. You could hurt the battery by letting it completely discharge and staying there in a discharged state,as the anode could fuse to the cathode. By recharging when the phone shuts itself off will avoid this. The G3 for instance shuts down around 1% The circuits in the phone do not allow for complete discharge. Chemically, the battery has only so many reactions that can take place in discharge, recharge. Charging a partially discharged battery counts as a cycle in the finite life of the battery. Here is a nice primer from ZDnet. http://www.zdnet.com/how-to-get-the-most-from-li-ion-batteries-7000026148/
  5. That's what I thought as well. We must have missed something...

These new batteries are not supposed to have the memory effect. I do find that by using the procedure I described to you, it helps condition them. Even my electric razor with a Li ion cell recommends doing that every 6 months.

By a full day I meant 18 hours. Still after 18 hours, I usually have 15 to 30 percent battery left. By torch mode I meant 100% brightness. I use an app called "Yet Another Auto Brightness" YAAB. The app allows you to set minimum levels of brightness and maximum levels of brightness. It would be a travesty to have such a beautiful screen and then dim it down to save battery. Tell your brother to let the battery totally discharge until the phone shuts itself off. Repeat this about 5 times in a row. Then start using and charging normally. This helps condition the battery to last longer between charges.
  8. Harrisburg is definitely getting B41 (I won't mention specific towers in this thread). I was talking to the Shentel tower service guy. Shentel is actually going through the prep stages as we speak.

My G3 is definitely not as good as my G2, but I get about 1.5 to 2 days with light to moderate use. At least a full day with heavy use and about 4.5 hours of screen on time in torch mode.

It's always something. I wish you could just buy a device that didn't have any glitches. Mine started a new phenomenon just a few days ago. After I knock twice on the screen to wake it up for use, the screen stutters for a second, the factory installed weather widget disappears then reappears. Hope it doesn't keep that nonsense up.
  11. Thanks, I knew the phones were all the same, but what is confusing me is the fact that in order to be compatible with Sprint's HD voice, the Sprint phone would have to have different software than the units sold by Google, since all HD voice systems are not the same. Does that sound logical?
  12. This may sound like a stupid question, but... Do you get HD voice on the Nexus 6 only on the version you buy from Sprint or will it be available on the Nexus 6 if purchased from Google as well. That probably wouldn't be possible would it?
  13. Contact LG at 1-800-243-0000. You'll most likely get the call center in India (...good luck with that). They will issue an RMA for you to send your unit to Fort Worth Texas for repair. Be very specific with them as they can tend to paraphrase the issue that you tell them which can have minute details get lost in the translation (no pun).
  14. Good luck & give 'em hell. That is such a P.I.T.A. It will all be worth it soon, when the new device is in-hand!
  15. Received my G2 back from LG yesterday. They said they found no problem with the GPS. Hmmmmm. It started working again right before I sent it in. It'll probably fail again after a few weeks of use like it always does. Since they put a new board and new screen in last time, it's probably the connectors on the back cover for the GPS antenna. What a poor design!
  16. Me Too! I want one! I'll at least wait until some others get one to see how they perform.
  17. That's cool! Come to think of it, I did see that option as well the last time I swapped a phone.
  18. You may want to use the correct SIM and deactivate the N5 SIM. I think, and I may be wrong, that you can get messed up on Sprint by using a SIM from another device. It's not like GSM.
  19. Awesome. Enjoy the new toy!
  20. If you can still get data on your Nexus 5, the SIM is not deactivated, which is why your Note 4 does not have LTE.
  21. Yes, after the device is deactivated it will still show a 3G signal but no LTE.
  22. That was my next thought as well. You may want to call customer service and make sure.
  23. Sure it's not a tower issue? SInce your N5 worked, it shouldn't be an eCSFB issue.
  24. That's strange. Did you check settings to make sure they didn't change to CDMA only.
