  1. The problem for Sprint is that T-Mobile sucked the air out of the room. Had Sprint gotten rolling a few years sooner, the story would likely be quite different. Sprint likely missed this window of opportunity. The window of opportunity for a merger is now, before Verizon gets 5g rolling and while there is a Republican in the Whitehouse.
  2. Look to see if wifi calling is still labeled as such or has it been relabeled as calling plus. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  3. The key item driving this merger idea forward is the cost of 5G which will be necessary to compete. The game will radically change soon when Verizon rolls out 5G. Sprint brings high band, T-Mobile bring better low band, and combining customers brings economies of scale. The new entity wouldn't be able to dramatically raise prices on its own. Instead they will need to retain customers and keep up customer growth. I don't expect dramatic site reductions outside of marginal customer areas. The network will be more steady once fully combined. Would this merger be like Nextel or MetroPCS? Only time will tell. The Shentel-Ntelos merger FCC settlement did address updating of handsets, so I expect this will ultimately have to do the same.

  5. Ohio, confirmed late last Tuesday. Just PM him for more details.

How is screen brightness outside? Does SCP report earfcns? Great to hear about battery life. I assume this a a totally separate model for Verizon rather than a phone that is finally defined at start by the first sim like the Note 7, correct? Thanks
  7. The question that concerns me most is how much bandwidth would the FCC allow the combined entity to retain. Factors that could affect this are the 600mhz spectrum, the high end spectrum acquired by Verizon and AT&T within the last year, and whether 3 instead of 4 national carriers would be factored in. Don't forget that Softbank could always increase it stake. Price increases may initally take a back seat to increased market share.
  8. What version of tapatalk are you using?

My hope is the improved screen helps dramatically with that.
  10. I did not realize that other carriers used so much 5x5. B26 is not as out of place as I thought, even at 3x3.

No pre order date. T-Mobile's is Oct 5 for reference.
  12. You have some excellent folks in Cleveland. Donate the cost of lunch and at become a sponsor to more easily hook up with them. Then you can go here for more info: They also have a Premier forum.
  13. The question is how much bandwidth will they be allowed to retain by the FCC. For the nTelos merger it was 205 iirc. Dividing by 3 instead of 4 would give 270 or so, but I have no idea how they actually calculate this. You do have 600mhz going online by T-Mobile since this was calculated. Verizon and AT&T have also bought high band spectrum for 5g.
  14. The smart road is to continue all work (or at least work in progress) as a substantial number of mergers fail in the final stages. Even nTelos managed to put up a lot of LTE right before they were officially acquired. Hopefully it will be different this time for Sprint. This merger could be very much like the Verizon-Vodaphone merger to setup Verizon Wireless. Softbank could end up with about 30% and Deutsche Telekom with 39%. Will Softbank acquire more shares later or quietly cash out?
  15. Sprint has changed its Band 41 configuration in Columbus to boost download speeds during the last week. For more information, become a S4gru sponsor today! (more details in sponsor and premier).
  16. At least with Sprint, any tethering is a violation of terms of service, at least for the older plans. Hotspots are allowed by plan or for additional revenue. These all have smaller limits. Sprint got Clearwire basically because they could not make their model for wireless internet service be profitable.
  17. Were these users tethered or using their phone as a hotspot ( ie using internet from their phone elsewhere?
  18. The sub article seems to be the most accurate: https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/verizon-terminating-certain-rural-customers-for-excessive-usage/ Basically claims that these users are exceeding network limits of 22GB per month / 10GB hotspot per month which Verizon was unable to manage. Accurate?
  19. Please post any new Magic Box market GCIs (the first three characters). Here is 0EE [credit BluesRulez]:
  20. Magic Boxes can draw in b41 through MIMO and then hold on to it because they are a constant connection. From a cold start your phone will likely pickup that site GCI first before switching over to the MB (use SCP to see it). Do the legwork yourself to find it (circle each nearby site to get three b41 GCI) or become a premier member and check the Minnesota premier thread.
  21. On Thursday the CFO stated at a conference that the Magic Box will go into mass production mode and they expect to have "hundreds of thousands" of them.
  22. The nice aspects of tapatalk are the ability to easily post photos without limits and notifications (but this has gotten fuzzy lately). The worst aspect is constant bugs.
