  1. Purging or averaging data for the same location given same gci pci etc has reduced data quite a bit for me in the past. Worse case you can go with a sample method, ie every 3 row etc or parition your data. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  2. Over time Sprint has grown less conservative with guard bands (and/or our understanding is greater). In some of our earlier calculations we were giving CDMA 0.625 guard bands and 10% internal to each side for LTE bands. They certainly have packed 1x800 more closely with 3x3 and channel 526 as a case it point. You are correct that Sprint may ultimately be able to have several CDMA channels with almost no effect on LTE. This is assuming that current 1900 RRH firmware is able to be adjusted to support larger bandwidth LTE while still supporting CDMA for places like Columbus. Maximizing LTE will get more interesting for some Shentel locations like Marietta, OH - Parkersburg, WV which will soon have 10x10 and 20x20 as one network to play with as per their April 2017 expansion agreement. CDMA capabilities with 5G radios may be more of an issue longer term, in addition to volumes needed to support CDMA existing in future smartphones.
  3. I think 1x800 will be Sprint's last CDMA position. The 1x1900 will be farmed over to LTE for VoLTE no sooner than several years out. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  4. You are correct. Despite remembering that I saw it on a chart in the background of a photo, I am unable to find that now or any reference to 2018 in press releases. They could have been cleaned-up, but more likely my memory is faulty or search methods are deficient.
  5. Here is to hoping for B41 20+20 and 15 support in some fashion for the many Sprint counties that would benefit from this.
  6. LG V30 is one. Your right, seeding is a little thin given current firmware. A promise they should not have made.
  7. 256 QAM would make the biggest difference given proper backhaul. 4x4 MIMO would be great for urban high capacity sites assuming the need for high capacity CDMA has declined.
  8. Still waiting on 4CA which was promised for 2017. 33 days left in 2017.
  9. Blocks are definitely less, but it has happened to me on one of my devices within the last day.
  10. I think if you are totally dependant on wireless, it might be best to carry two phones that use different networks. This would not only give protection against outages but possibly for service gaps. Cost of the backup phone could be reduced by using a MVNO If money is no object, get a satellite phone. Of course even if you have a satellite phone there are times and places you won't get coverage (deep valleys, too far north/south, no satellite overhead). Let us not forget Wi-Fi calling and femto cells as alternatives for mobile phone service in certain situations. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  11. Downdetector.com shows relatively few complaints but definitely some issues. Quite small compared to AT&T's reported national issues a few days ago with VoLTE. Sprint's issues with LTE a few months ago fell in between. I also recall T-Mobile having issues a while back. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  12. For the price of your typical lunch you can become a sponsor and have access to all our LTE 1900 and 1x800 site maps and discussions, site equipment photos, etc for a period of time. We like to keep our detailed information secret as it costs money and time for us to get and organize it, plus keep the site operational. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/page/donation.html/
  13. Covered in last conference call. It is part of the April 2017 expansion where they purchased the Sprint sites / customers in the Cumberland/ Frostburg area (part of Sprint Western PA market), Marietta, OH/Parkersburg, WV and Gallipolis, WV (Sprint West Virginia Market), and Portsmouth, OH (Sprint Columbus Market). My guess is the remaining counties of the Sprint West Virginia market will be merged back into the Columbus Market. A few sites in this area may already have been upgraded equipment-wise, but it may not have been turned on yet (one found, others checked, some photos still being reviewed). There was discussion of adding / upgrading 88 sites in the prior conference call. They said they will release their capital expansion budget once they decide on the details. Currently each one of the areas is being handled differently.
  14. Cross streets of the site? Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  15. I have had issues with annoying echos on my phone during voice calls. Started a few months ago and has been getting worse. I can say an entire sentence before I hear the echo. It does not affect Wi-Fi calling. Anyone else seen or heard of this?
  16. Driving from north to south from Lane to Fifth Ave was all b41 except a few feet about a 1/2 block south of lane, which was b25. This was using a LG V20. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  17. I am often in that area and will be tomorrow. I will check it out and let you know what I observe. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  18. I have picked up a 0F0 in my logs using b41. I will try to figure out if it is an Airave, Magic Box or S1000 (matches that earfcn for the area). Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  19. Softbank did provide various amounts of capital to Sprint it the earlier years https://www.reuters.com/article/us-sprint-softbank/japans-softbank-snaps-up-sprint-in-20-billion-deal-idUSBRE89A0I520121015, and more through indirect channels in recent years. Look back at this: http://www.barrons.com/articles/SB50001424053111904034104578060690989363534 You forget about Tiger teams with the softbank engineers going to numerous individual sites. To achieve what you wanted, Sprint would have been fully merged into Softbank communications division. Don't forget that Softbank overall is best described as a conglomerate/venture capital firm.
  20. I have a different take. Announcement of a non-merger is unusual, therefor take T-Mobile and Sprint at their word. A deal with a cable company makes sense if Softbank is constrained in making further investments in Sprint given its ownership level. Beyond that I am uncertain. Yes there is content rights, backhaul, and customer base but also a lot of items in a mature industry that may not be of interest. Hopefully what ever additional happens, occurs soon, so the main focus returns to improving service/revenues.
  21. Hopefully we come out with better roaming from this exploration, between T-Mobile and Sprint.
