  1. "We" don't have any say in this. ... really ... It's between Sprint and T-Mobile and the government. Not us. It's a mobile phone company, not a cancer saving debacle!
  2. Yeah... huge "pin" in the ballon for stock holders... "at or below market value"... ie: Buy one, get 2 free! Nice! Thats what happens when you have a dept load the size of Sprint's! Maybe Masayoshi Son should just say his true feelings: "No reasonable offer refused"...
  3. Looks like Sprint and T-Mobile have been working hard behind the scenes.... Sprint hired Trump connected lobbyist!
  4. I think many of us will have those questions... but who can really answer that now? I for one, was thinking about a new phone soon... as I'm currently using a Note 5, which I still love! The merger, even "if" announced, won't happen until 1 year from now the earliest. By then there will be all new phones out. The reality is, it's so far away, phones are not a huge worry!
  5. Totally agree Red Dog! Absolutely. In many ways I feel that T-Mobile is showing Sprint that "you need to get off your *** and fix your network or you are going to get crushed." (if not by us, then by AT&T or Verizon)... If you want to be a legit contender for a merger... get moving! I think they are. Masa has wanted it since the beginning... don't know what happened so quickly to make them act? It's just good to see. T Mobile is tearing it up and not sitting on it's heals. They are already getting 600 MHz put in areas they can turn it on now... They are actually ahead of phone release! As far as prices and those concerned... I get the sense from some, that this whole thought of merging is just out of control like a spirit of doom. Bills will rise unfairly... etc... it may not be said verbatim... but the feeling is there. What I'm trying to say to those, is: don't panic... I think the possibilities are endless, with all that spectrum and the determination to use it. Did I say... The DETERMINATION to use it... The capital to use it... I think the combination with it's Spectrum and depth... will be a game changer. I think "T-Mobint" will still be the disruptor. I don't see them backing down in the fight with the big two.... I still see unlimited in the cards... Time will tell.
  6. Most people here are already aware... and I for one am not looking for a price reduction nor do I expect the cost of service to stay at the current level. You will be sadly mistaken if you think prices are going down with or without a merger. Why do we keep going down this road?? I don't think anyone thinks prices will go down. The focus is on a stronger combined company that can better utilize it's available resources and to be able to compete on nearly the same turf as Verizon and AT&T . For those of you thinking prices will stay the same or go down, please explain your thinking? How? How do you expect the network to grow or be updated at the current rates? 5G is about 1-2 years away. Strategy and ground work is being layed... vendors are, or soon will be lined up to order equipment. Do you think "Free service for a year" or "Free or 1/2 off IPhone's" or "5 lines for $60" are going to pay for it?
  7. An interesting read from Seeking Alpha Business... Here is a snippet. I would post the entire article link but you have to subscribe to see it in it's entirety. This was interested as it measured the 4 main carrier's spectrum holdings... Article Link Edited by staff to comply with fair use. Don't post 3/4s of an article and always link to the source.
  8. ... I thought about it. I'm pro Merger! Bring it on! Already been through the WORST Cellular merger in history! No worries! Inspite of how bad the Nextel merger was, Sprint got loads of band 41 out of it. Wouldn't be here today if not for that! Try to open your mind up of some of the possible positive outcomes... not focus on only cost fears.
  9. I guess I'm being greedy, but man, I'd sure love to be able to access some 600MHz and 700MHz from time to time. One of many reasons I'm pro merger. That and more focus on network and less about "We're talking (re; trying to merge) to Comcast, on Monday, we're talking to T-Mobile on Tuesday, We're talking to Altis (or who-ever) on Wednesday. I feel like sprint is like trying to jump in bed with anybody... just as long as we're unloaded..It makes Sprint appear desperate and not very valuable.... It's old. Get it over and lets move on.
  10. I don't feel an apology is necessary. It's your personal take on a given event (Events) many both from a technology standpoint and an Investment strategy... Some of the past decisions by Sprint's upper leadership left the company holding the "bag of nothing". The WiMax decision was huge! WIthin a month or two after it was announced with huge fanfare, Sprint would use WiMax. I remember other notables being Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile choosing LTE. The LTE standard wasn't complete at the time, but quickly came to be..., but being the odd kid on the block, going it alone on a technology nobody wanted to share with them, was a huge blunder that hurt the company for many years and still hasn't completely recovered from. Scale of economics. The inability to police all of their partners at the time (Affiliates) and make sure the network was providing customers a good experience... The lack of them adding CDMA to all of the Nextel Towers.... On and on... yes, it would have taken money, but they ended up wasting millions of dollars regardless by not doing it. Pay a little now.... or a LOT later! That was yesterday.... Let's hope, and it sure does look like now, Sprint is on the right track and is taking their network very seriously! It is truly a breadth of fresh air!
  11. My speeds indoors are going up and down (not by much) even with Magic Box. In the last few days, my MB has been going back and forth between Band 25 and Band 41. (just like without my MB...it would oscillate indoors ... guess that's why I was approved for a MB?! Borderline B41 here... Maybe Massive Mimo or a "Merger" will help?
  12. Normal. Part of business. That's the goal. Can't always stop that. We are all employees of someone or something. We all want pay increases too right? Well... I'm very willing to have to pay a little more if I feel the product i'm getting is of good quality and integrity.
  13. I agree with Robert. It's about Investor returns.... not much about network... Besides, Son bought Sprint for this particular reason... you all know that. No surprise. He bought 70-80% of Sprint and wanted to Merge with T-Mobile from day one. Prices? Well lets be reasonable... the free ride WILL stop regardless. Merger or not. But I do believe there will be incentives we will all enjoy in addition to a much more robust network! T-Mobil will make it happen... Like others, Sprint has made many promises public this week (again) waving the carrot... but history says they are only 40-50% on record to hold true to those promises... Lots of disappointment and incomplete work over the years. That won't be the case once combined. They will have to button the networks up and get them running in harmony and migrate people quickly to WCDMA, VoLTE.... etc... As a last resort... there are lower tier carriers (MVNO's) you can go to.... Google FI, Consumers, Metro, Family Mobile.... on and on... still viable options for most. These are just my ideas and thoughts/oppinons. Nothing is certain at this point. Still better than going to AT&T or Verizon. (My dinner just came up a little after mentioning those 2 names...)
  14. I can't imagine Legere as CEO and Masa Son wanting a say in day to day business as what's being reported! The two of them go together like oil and water??? I can hear the expletives fly already...most of it coming out of Legere's mouth!
  15. ...Yep... they are back at it. All the major news outlets are reporting on it. Stocks are up on both companies. It still will be an all stock swap... but Masa wants some say. (??) Not sure Legere and Son are very compatible together... Per the news outlets: * T-Mobile CEO John Legere is expected to lead any combination. *Softbank's Masayoshi Son has made it clear he wants a say in how the company is run.
  16. Love the reference! I feel like that too sometime! Hahahaha. Don't forget... at the right moment, turn the sprinklers on full blast for an extra laugh!
  17. ...so with this sort of thinking, it will not truly help Sprint's user numbers (user lines) . ARPU (Average revenue per user) as it's known, will be cut in nearly half if this sort of thinking holds true... which is why I doubt Sprint will count as "users". Millions of magic boxes are or will be deployed with no addition revenue source. I guess I fail to see what the intent of the thinking on your part and swintec's as to how this will positively affect Sprint "lines"?? Trying to figure out the thinking process here... I'm not following it.... If you look at the other posts above, you will see, Sprint simply needs to link a box to a user and they are using account numbers... appears one Magic Box per account number is allowed. If you want a 2nd box, you need to link it to a different number/account. Don't know where "Padding the numbers" came to be??
  18. Why would you think MB's are counted as a line? They have no phone number in/on them, and it's free and intended to ultimately benefit Sprint...Secondly... you the host, as well. The moment they charge a line to have a MB is the moment it goes back to Sprint with a "No thank you note". These are network "enhancer" devises, not paying customers... so I'm sure they cannot be counted as "Pad the numbers" ! ?? What lead you to jump to such a conclusion?
  19. Sprint is working to address many issues.... but I wish they would address a long time "black hole" in their coverage. 65 S. Livernois in the Kroger plaza... almost "0" signal especially in the store. 3G at best (1 or 2 bars outside in parking lot). Quite sad. Worse yet, Rochester High School is right across the street. You know there are many Sprint phones in the kids possession M-F (maybe... maybe not anymore...). I've used the Sprint app to report, but after 10 or 12 years, it's odd nothing gets done. T-mobile, my other phone, went from and indoor fair signal to nearly full bars in the last couple of years in the same locale... Ahh.... yeah.... Perfect spot for a Magic Box or 2 or 3....
  20. yes. I loved it though... 2 seconds into the call after introduction, the Goldman people litearly asked "you promised us a response regarding merger news during our last call"... "so when will the merger be announced".... Marcelo's answer as "per our Lawyers, this is what I'm allowed to say: "No comment"" LOL. They hit him hard and didn't hold back... that is a good thing. the Quarterly Earnings calls are events to polish their apples in front of the investment community and investors... These technology calls and things like the Goldman Sachs calls are where the nitty-gritty comes out. Massive Mimo came up and was addressed... we already know about that... but it's real and it's really happening "now". I don't believe anyone should "Shut up" about Sprint though. There has been so many promises made by Sprint that just never came to reality or was started and transitioned into something else.... that I think many of us are just a little skeptical until we actually see results and as it should be! In the last month, I have never seen so much actual improvement in my area in the last 6 or 7 years as I have in the last 30- 60 days! Lets see, 800 mHz up and running now, multiple carriers added on the sprint sites... Magic Box's being deployed and delivered... small cells going up and being worked on.... hallelujah!
