  1. "Couple hundred millions" what? It won't give them new customers and it won't do anything for the bottom line. All it does is allow them to use their spectrum more efficiently.
  2. Promised in a "Sprint" sense... LOL. Just telling what I was told. To be honest, nothing has shown up here yet... It's already June... so... so much for Sprint making good on "improvements/updates" by end of May. Just 1X (3G) available here at work.
  3. Thank you! I appreciate your comments. I have. I now have two phones. It's a waiting game. My Sprint plan is much cheaper and I get a corporate discount so it's a frustrating situation. If the merger actually is on, I'm sure it will slow network "work" down (on the Sprint side) if and when that is officially announced. Again Thanks for the open minded comments!!
  4. AJ... I'm not basing it on one location or just 800mHz...in the Tri-County area. My opinions are base on Detroit being an old Sprint market. The Network here is in need of upgrade and those upgrades are coming VERY slow. Thankfully 800 LTE is slowing making it's way here too. This was confirmed with a Sprint Executive services call I had a few weeks back. (They called me) Many towers in the area have not had anything done to them since Network Vision in 2013/14. We reviewed over a dozen towers (Tower Loads, software updates, and outages in the area, by the way, many are still in need of back haul work/upgrades...) between where I work (Dearborn MI, and where I live (35miles north of Dearborn). The Sprint rep was very nice and took notes of issues I had experienced. Very professional. I always keep routing for Sprint to pull off a miracle.
  5. I'm beginning to fear there is way too much hope being put on this "magic box" in a window. Need more than a box, that by the way, I get to pay the electricity to run, in my window. It's called Towers...
  6. I agree! Network not up to snuff yet by me either. Been with Sprint since 2000. Alway routed for them. Just have a hard time lately... it's always something or some issue... Detroit, Dearborn, surrounding areas... very little carrier aggregation yet... Not much 800 LTE yet, still have very week coverage areas in very populous area.... I don't know. It is what it is. No Capex issues?? What? I call BS on this. Sounds like Son doesn't always get what's going on nor does Marcelo.. or they think the can tell the investment community what ever to sound good? "I can see that consumers can withstand a $5 dollar increase in Data fees per year"..." it should be expected..." Per Marcelo in the call. Not yet it's not acceptable! In the web address they did yesterday, Marcelo did say that Son surprised him with unannounced visit. It was 1/3 the way the JP Morgan call yesterday. Guess they don't pay attention to each others schedules.... You guys and gals need to listen to that webcast from May 22nd... Interesting. I got tired of having an unusable cellphone at Ford Motor Company and at Greenfield Village across the street. I bought an unlocked phone and got a 30 day pre-pay on T-Mobile. Works fantastic indoors and around my work area! Works great at home too! T-Mobile has caught up and has passed us!! Sprint...Within 1% of competitors? No.... I don't think so... not yet. Pass on that Kool Aid!
  7. Anymore local 800 sightings? I'm still waiting for the Dearborn (Greenfield Road Tower and Telegraph Road Tower) upgrades that were promised "by end of May" per Sprint....
  8. Here's an idea: How about NexCom. or Nex-T-Com. Since it's all about communications whether it's Texting, Talking or Data... Kinda has a little T-Mobile in it as well as Sprint / Nextel. Sprint still owns the right to Nextel and it's logo....Just some new name ideas. I agree with others though... got to bring the network together first (still not quite there yet) or wait for merger before changing names.
  9. ok... I have to ask... wasn't the 2500 mHz spun off of Sprint back in the Gary Forsee days? Sprint originally owned that spectrum... Ie I bought a WiMax phone. Later Sprint was in trouble... Clearwire, just a puppet on a string for Sprint anyway, also never had any money! Nearly bankrupt soon after forming. 2500 mHz went to them only to be re-bought at the time of Clearwire being bought. It was a huge mess!
  10. They did nearly nothing with WiMax! Test sites, retainment sites... and so forth... I was one of the fools that bought an HTC Smart phone with Wimax with the maditory $10 premium data fee just to use 3g the life of the phone. Sprint kept promising Wimax deployment in the Detroit area... never really happed. You are far too kind with Sprint. They really should have refunded all the $10 per month premium fees for their customers who had a WiMax phone but no WiMax in their area!
  11. I completely agree! Was thinking this all day. Maybe this is their idea of building the network out "Much Cheaper" than the other 3 carriers...
  12. So question on small cells.... what if Spring merges with T-Mobile .... what happens to all those small cells? Ie... I'm sure T-Mobile would be the dominating network and would replace the sprint equipment with their own. Can any small cells be reconfigured?
  13. Now it's back up... Called customer service. "High User Volume". Site is intermittent.
  14. Site is down. To many users trying to reach site. Speaks a lot of how many of us have less than a great signal!
  15. 2020 is fine... cause at this rate, Sprint doesn't have the monetary resources to do anything with that spectrum. Article on news wire yesterday just said Softbank is looking at options to sell some (a nice size chunk) of the 2500MHz spectrum to possible reduce Sprint's debt. Here in Great Lakes IBEZ areas... things are clear with FCC... but network is being updated extremely slowly.
  16. Most towers in Metro Detroit need this upgrade. Since IBEZ has been clear and open in this area now for sometime,(a year or so according to the FCC) it once again becomes a waiting game with Sprint. It's especially annoying when they keep advertising Detroit as a Sprint Spark or what ever the name is now. To be that, all 3 frequencies should have been available and up until now, haven't. IE little or no 800mHz east of Jackson Michigan. When I was on the phone, the gentleman from Sprint Executive Services was literally telling me when the last Tower work / update was done in the area. We went through several. Most if not all, have not been touched in this area since 2013/14 (Network Vision?) that was 3 or 4 years ago. By electronic / computer age, that was an eternity ago. There were only a handful that had some recent updates. He did say and I will tell all of you this, USE YOUR Sprint Zone app and report network issues! Report Network issues on that app! They are actually downloading and utilizing that data to determine what tower and locations needs to be scheduled/ worked. If they get no complaints, they assume no issue. They can see at that moment, your GPS location, the type of phone in use and network / tower numbers/load etc. Hope that helps. I too am waiting. Small cell deployment at Comerica Park and Ford Field is great, but I don't live there.
  17. Talked to Executive Services at Sprint last week. Scheduled for 800 LTE love, during Late April / May timeframe: Dearborn Michigan and Westland areas. My hope is for Northern Burbs, like Oakland County / Rochester / Auburn Hills to receive some 800 LTE antenna attention.
  18. Does anyone have any more information on Detroit (IBEZ) areas and or Region 21 getting 800mHz (band 26) deployment?
  19. Will the small cells being deployed contain 800mHz? I assumed the small cells were for 2.5G?
  20. Sprint has lots of small black holes around Metro Detroit. I am glad 800 is slowing being worked on... can't wait. We need it.
  21. Just ran across this: Completion of 800 MHz Band Reconfiguration in Certain Regionshttps://www.fcc.gov/document/completion-800-mhz-band-reconfiguration-certain-regions
