  1. You said that on purpose didn't you, LOL!!!!
  2. No device will be perfect, the issues with the evo lte were well known before the phone was released and those(such as myself) that were fortunate to have lte were face with connection issues. With that being said, there were other factors that led me to get and/or keep the phone anyway. Battery life was amazing as we all know and the camera was and for the most part still top notch, not to mention that beautiful 720p slcd2 screen. Now if I could go back in time and do it all over again I think I would still get the evo over the gs3 anyway but that of course is based on what I value. As far as the htc one, I honestly don't know. I really wanted a phone with a 5" display but they still stuck with the 4.7 which is fine I guess. I am definitely sold on the full hd slcd3 screen and front facing stereo speakers as well as the aluminium build. What I am not sold on is the "ultrapixel" marketing term that's being thrown around. Now in theory, plus what I have seen so far, it may be pretty cool but I hope it rocks once the phone is actually released. Also based on what AJ posted on S4GRU's wall it would seem like the one should be better than the evo lte when it comes to connectivitiy, at least on paper anyway. Oh and blinkfeed can be disabled for sure. I am a phone whore, I have to buy something. I don't know the last time I had a phone longer than a year. I am also looking at the gs4 and I definitely don't like samsungs plastic build but more importantly I can't stand pentile screens. Now this time around I think that samsung is not going the way of pentile which should improve the screen quality but then they will still be using samoled screens, which does great with blacks but garbage with everything else and not to mention image retention issues. So it will be between the one and the gs4 but for me what it comes down too the most will be camera and screen.
  3. You sure it was a sprint phone? At&t had the HTC Inspire 4g(basically the same thing as the evo just with a newer snapdragon chip) which displayed "4g" when connected to At&t's hspa+ service which you can find here in the virgin islands but being that backhaul was a joke for any carrier here speeds were still abysmal. That's the only other explanation I can come up with.
  4. Don't know what else to really say, maybe he was on wifi but I am positive that sprint never had 4g wimax on St. thomas.
  5. LOL, you are definitely sold on it. I am not quite sold but I know I will get it anyway.
  6. I am thinking sometime this month as well. I really hope the camera on this phone is more than just hype, I would hate for this to turn into another evo 3d situation.
  7. There has never been sprint wimax in st. thomas, now if I am not mistaken choice communication offered and still offers a wireless home internet service that uses wimax but that had nothing to do with sprint.
  8. If you follow what I said, you will see where the house is located and you will see how the panels are mounted. Kids aren't going to get to it. Its all about location and the where that house is located is damn near perfect for a tower. You basically have one hell of a view in every direction.
  9. If you go up cassie hill then make the right to go through tabor and harmony, before you get to annas retreat there is a house on the left on top of that hill that has sprint panels on it. You have a better chance seeing it if you are coming from home town going towards tabor and harmony, I see cars there all the time so I would assume people live there.
  10. There are 4 towers serving country and 4 in town but they are probably configured differently to handle the extra traffic which is expected being that's were most people work on the island and where most of the tourists are when they come in on cruise ships and what not. One thing I did notice has been better signal in parts of the island that never got a signal, for example driving past Antilles School has always been a 100% dead zone for sprint users. Driving through there while talking on the phone will always result in your call getting dropped. I drove past there yesterday and early this morning while talking on the phone and both times the calls stayed connected which is awesome considering the distance and the mountains that are between there and the 3 closest towers.
  11. The maps are for sponsors only but it's worth it to donate, you will have access to a lot of info. Now most of the sites have been accepted but work is still being done, also keep in mind that even though sites have been accepted by sprint there could still be issues with backhaul. All in all though things are looking great for the Virgin Islands
  12. It's just interference, I have had this issue happen to every device I have owned. I run my home network on 5ghz and don't have that issue anymore.
  13. There will always be new phones coming out within the next couple of months so if you like it just get it.
  14. I actually meant to put that little disclosure in my initial post yesterday, thank you.
  15. That link is only viewable by sponsor members only, you should consider becoming a sponsor, the wealth of information is endless and priceless. But to answer your question, there is a house over looking tabor and harmony and annas retreat that has quite a few sprint panels on its roof top. Thats the site I was pulling over 2 megs on yesterday. That site covers all of smith bay so you should be noticing better service in the area. There is another site in redhook but I haven't been to that one to verify but according to the report that Robert provided, it would seem like 3g upgrades are just about completed. The sites around mountain top are all but impossible to get close enough too, there is a site in town up the hill right behind of griffith park that I notice work being done yesterday afternoon(also located on a rooftop of a building), I don't think they are finished with that one yet though. I don't think we are that far away from getting lte especially with how puerto rico lit up like a christmas tree very fast plus we are part of the PR market anyway.
  16. Oh and I also noticed that as of this afternoon my evo is showing eHRPD but my nexus is still showing evdo. I also noticed a crew working on another tower in the main part of town.
  17. Its been a while thats for sure but I do remember when I had my touch pro 2 that I would get decent speeds when I visited(around1.5 consistently).
  18. WOW, thats a really good price, definitely worth the purchase for sure.
  19. I know which tower it is, it's actually sitting on top of a house, lol. I took pics as well but given the distance, it's hard to see the smaller details. I should be back at my office in about 30 minutes or so. I will pm you the site info.
  20. To those that are in St. Thomas, I can confirm That at least one tower that has been upgraded to nv(3g). I am out in the field at the moment, I will post some speedtest results as soon as I can. I been averaging well over 2 megs down on 3g which is unheard of.
  21. Oh I know, wasn't trying to imply anything towards you specifically, its just that htc use to be the king of the smartphone world and its so sad to see them fall from greatness. For a company that makes such amazing hardware they have found so many creative ways to shoot themselves in the foot lately, its almost as if they are trying to fail(if that even makes any sense). I really hope that the htc one flies off the shelves and I really hope htc stays on top of keeping their devices supported.
