Oh ok, based on your post it sounded like you had specific issues with the 911 requirements. But try it though, the voice quality is pretty amazing, better than when you are on 1x but not quite as good as hd voice.

(If I am understanding your question) Stock notification bar when connected to lte will show "lte" the spark symbol " * " and the bars. The bars represent lte strength only being that it connects to only lte until a call comes in then it switches to 1x. So when you are on a call the bars will then represent 1x strength. EDIT: Based on Roberts response it looks like I totally misunderstood your question, my bad.

I noticed comcast started doing this a few weeks ago in my neighbourhood, not really that big of a deal. It also looks like they increased speeds to compensate for the open xfinity wifi. I pay for 50megs and been getting about 50megs pretty consistently but since then I been getting close 90megs down and 20 to 25 up. -
Actually I am currently running the .17 radio but regardless it really is amazing how the nexus performs on the network.

Well I just left my sprint store and for the 20 minutes I played with g3, it was about the same as my m8 when it came to lte(which really isn't a bad thing) but my nexus was still number one by about 5 to 7dbm on average.

Do a hardreset by doing ##786# on the dialer pad, hit menu in the upper right hand corner then hit reset. It will do a complete wipe and when it resets. I think it may ask for your msl as well. Anyway once it comes back up if you are still having issues then maybe you want to consider exchanging it.

If you are rooted download an app called "msl reader". It may give you an error saying that your device is not recognised as an htc device but if you continue anyway it will give it to you.

No the hdmi is input.

Personally I don't use "toolkits" to unlock and root, I just hop right into adb myself, you get a better learning experience that way but using a toolkit is definitely the easiest way to go. Just remember that the first step, which is unlocking the bootloader, will completely wipe the device so just make sure you back up anything you want to keep.

Just root and you can get that removed when on wifi.
