  1. I was gonna get this phone but it sounds buggy as hell
  2. Dumb question: why block the LTE sites? Don't they just hand off to eHRPD if you go out of range? Maybe I am missing something.
  3. But they're still turning on 800 mHz service in available locations right? Such as the Chicago market?
  4. What's the deal with shoddy Android phone quality and Android phones basically released as betas? The EVO 4g LTE purportedly has reboot, WIFI, 3G and bluetooth issues. Reminds me of the Nexus S, the Galaxy Nexus, the LG G2x, the Galaxy S II, the Motorola Photon, and the Droid X. Each of those phones had issues either with reboots, and/or wifi and cellular connectivity.

    No 4g option?

    What's under 4G settings?
  6. Can you buy this in stores? What day?
  7. Clear will go bankrupt in a few years. 2600 mHz spectrum simply requires way too much capex due to its propagation characteristics. Wireless operators don't need more spectrum. They'll reallocate existing and will fill in addition cell sites as needed in high demand areas and use edge balancing technologies to maintain capacity. Sprint has little interest in owning Clear.

    HTC EVO 4G LTE

As much as you all blame Apple you should really blame the US Federal Government since its their patent laws.
  9. I'm thinking Clear may be fairly valued. The spectrum value analysis I've seen seem to overvalue the spectrum, because I don't think they are weighing propagation characteristics of 2600 mHz enough. When you have to not double, but square, your tower build-out, to achieve fair in-building coverage, that to me drops the value of the spectrum quite a bit.
  10. I think this phone looks pretty awesome. I'm tempted to switch from the iPhone
  11. The $19 per month plans includes unlimited talk and text, while a second plan for $39 per month includes unlimited talk, text and data. http://www.bgr.com/2012/05/14/voyager-mobile-unlimited-wireless-plan/ Seems comparable to Boost to me.
  12. Hmm. But if I turn off cellular data and 3G, it's still the same speed (about 4 to 5 seconds). Not sure if this puts it into 1x mode though.
  13. All I want to know if HD voice reduces voice lag. Right now there's 300 ms of one directional lag on a cell-to-cell call, or 600ms round-trip. Reducing that to 150ms or less (what you get now with a land line to cell call) would improve calls a lot more than wide band audio.
  14. This was regular Text message not imessage, sending to a phone on AT&T. And I also tried sending to 311 the "usage" command and it send and replied back instantly.
  15. When I text on Sprint (iPhone) it takes about 5 seconds to send. When the phone is on Extended network, it sends almost instantaneously. What's up with that? /edit This was regular Text message not imessage, sending to a phone on AT&T. And I also tried sending to 311 the "usage" command and it send and replied back instantly.

    Evo 4g lte question

Depends on the maximum sound pressure level (SPL) spec of the microphone used. MAXIMUM SPL: The loudest sound that the mic can pick up without distorting. Apple uses a mic with a higher max SPL than the Evo appraently, which is why there is less distortion.
  17. Looking foward to the HD voice review
  18. How fast is 2G and 1G on NV?
  19. Wow, the One X didn't do too well
  20. I guess one way to look on the bright side is that by the end of 2013, LTE will have nearly the same coverage as 3G. So SVDO kind of won't matter as much in the long run.
  21. Well that was a boring announcement.
  22. I really don't understand why T-mobile would want to roll out LTE at all. I don't see it having any advantage for them over HSPA+.
  23. Here is another good speed test app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xtremelabs.android.speedtest&feature=nav_other#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDYsImNvbS54dHJlbWVsYWJzLmFuZHJvaWQuc3BlZWR0ZXN0Il0.
