  1. Arora has now also resigned from Sprint's Board of Directors. http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2016/06/24/sprint-board-member-resignation-nikesh-arora.html
  2. Brexit has shocked markets today. While fundamentally I do not believe Sprint's recent run up back into the $4 was justified, I also would consider buying again if it heads back into the low or even mid-$3 range.
  3. I notice my phone currently has no LTE connection now that I have opened this thread.
  4. I will be going to Australia for the first time next week. Just to confirm, I will have free 2G data service over there?
  5. I just sold another small portion of my Sprint holdings at $4.45; need the stock to get back to $6 and beyond to break even on some much older positions from 2+ years ago.
  6. Classic business case of a long-time strong CEO (usually founder) wanting to stay for longer. But ambitious successors do not want to wait longer. Or there are doubts that a successor has the necessary vision and leadership. The most recent high profile departure of an heir apparent was at Disney two months ago: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/05/business/media/thomas-staggs-walt-disney-company.html

Received an update tonight, but seems to just have been a security fix.
  8. Sprint faces questions on Mobilitie's small cell rollout efforts, handset write-off costs http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-faces-questions-mobilities-small-cell-rollout-efforts-handset-write/2016-06-08 Last quarter: - Sprint recorded a $166 million loss related to "cell site construction and other network costs that are no longer recoverable as a result of changes in the Company's network plans." - Sprint recorded $256 million write-off due to cancellations of its handset leases. "At a $650 average value per leased handset, that is the equivalent of 393K customers simply walking off with a Sprint handset at lease inception, without ever making a single payment."
  9. T-Mobile testing three-channel carrier aggregation on LTE network http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/t-mobile-testing-three-channel-carrier-aggregation-lte-network/2016-06-07
  10. I sold a small portion of my Sprint position today at breakeven. With the overall market back to reaching 2016 highs, I am converting more of my portfolio to cash for future bad times.
  11. T-Mobile issuing stock in the company to primary account holders to download an app and make referrals. That's pretty cool. http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/un-carrier-11-stock-gives-customers-t-mobile-shares-t-mobile-tuesdays-app-g/2016-06-06
  12. I applaud the "steal", but the guy still seems cooler even now back when he was on Verizon with the dignified voiceover in exotic locations. Sprint should do a closer ad copy.
  13. Softbank is not paying down Sprint's debt, as that would be giving the company money. Softbank itself has $109 billion of debt on top of Sprint's $34 billion of debt.
  14. A one sentence boast that Son has been saying since 2013 with nothing tangible to back it up? Damn, being CEO is easy... Doubters like beef, and yet the first sentence of the article says Softbank recorded a 49 percent plunge in profit from a year ago. After shrugging off Sprint's losses with an empty quip, Son then pivots to boasting that he will also do awesome spending billions in India; and then also do awesome in Japanese electricity at the same time. Son likely has a controlling ownership stake in Softbank. Otherwise, a sane Board of Directors or common shareholders would have long ago fired him as CEO for having lost tens of billions of dollars in just a few years.
  15. There is a recession every decade. We are due or overdue for a new one. Sprint is currently nowhere near profitability. With its $34 billion debt and all these crazy Softbank-engineered credit facilities, the company is barely surviving while the rest of the economy has grown the past 7 years. A new recession within the next few years would be a mortal blow to the sick company, forcing the government to let Sprint merge or go bankrupt. I dearly hope that I am wrong, so that I can pull out the crapload of money I have spent on Sprint shares the past few years.
  16. US Cellular's stock plunged yesterday. Is it a good opportunity for an individual investor or bigger company to buy? https://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSE%3AUSM
  17. Quarterly report did not do much for Sprint stock this week. We are where we were a month ago: mid-$3 range.
  18. You also need positive cash flow to start paying down the $34 billion in debt. And no sane company will buy Sprint with all that baggage, especially if it is still bleeding cash.
  19. And outgaining ATT and VZW was due to... a 50% off ATT/VZW bill promotion?
  20. Sprint barely gained postpaid subscribers this past quarter, and that was only because they extended their half-off promotion from end of last year. The big question is whether Sprint can gain momentum in growth, let alone keep subscriber additions positive, without expensive gimmicks.
  21. Sprint inks deal with CommScope for 'extensive deployment' of LTE/Wi-Fi small cells http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-inks-deal-commscope-extensive-deployment-ltewi-fi-small-cells/2016-05-03
  22. "more of the cash outlays related to network densification are expected to be incurred in fiscal year 2017." (Apr 2017 - Mar 2018)
