A speed test of one of the first two LTE sites accepted in maine this week. Also, 800 1x is also being deployed rather quickly as well.

to followup with yesterdays post about me spotting 800 1x on actual maine sites...i found another site as well outside of Sanford. this specific one was brought online within the last day or so because it wasnt seen on Tuesday night. I will be away next week and with the way they are working I expect to get back into the area and see some significant upgrades.

i cant speak for other markets but this would be amazing, at least coverage wise up here in northern new england where US Cellular has a pretty decent network for rural areas and sprint...not so much. is it a fairly straight forward migration of the US cellular network over to Sprint if this were to happen?

I have locked on to 1x 800 for the first time today from actual Maine sites. Something was done this week as it was not around in this area last Friday night when I drove through. The affected area is around the USM campus in gorham and several miles outward but signal check showed the tower a fair distance away right down on the coast. Very impressive distance. For what its worth I am using the custom PRL in the premier sponsors forum.

Are you saying that a virgin / new iphone, becomes locked to a carrier once a choice for carrier selection is made at the initial screen? Is something written to the phones software that says only Verizon from now on? it would seem to me that if this can be done over the air during activation that it could then be undone and over written during activation on say, Sprint. Would simply be over writing the parameters set at activation. Are the MEIDs pulled from the "Master List" during provisioning to verizon / sprint so the other wont see it as being able to be activated? This comes off as an absolute CF to be honest.

I actually was right by it. Quite an impressive place. I dont usually go down there this time of year as the "flat-landers" have invaded though. Is there any sort of numbers that show how far a cell signal can travel over open water, unobstructed? Also, for those around that area in Mass.. that cell site does not appear to be 800 accepted yet but it is broadcasting it so it must be close.

Talk about coverage...I was down right by the ocean today driving in Kennebunkport, Maine and my phone picked up an 800 signal....from Mass.! It seems the tower is out on a peninsula of sorts in rockport and it stuck out just enough to go clearly over the ocean almost 100 miles. I suppose going over open water signal penetration is very good but I didnt think it was that good. Very impressive. What do you guys think?

Unless the ad says to specifically call or text for inquiries on the item why would you text the person? i could see maybe if you were phone shy? But...if you insist on texting from your end, then I gues you will need to take the time to run the number through one of the websites that show who the owner of the number is.

Sorry, what is the testing ID i should look for in SignalCheck (Pro!) ? are you running a special PRL to connect to it or will I be okay using stock PRLs?

Of course the question becomes, for the life of what exactly, and what funny business will they be able to do to get around this in 2,3,4,8 years time. In a few years when these plans are no longer offered the future smart phones may need to be on the then current plans and not eligible for legacy plans. We have seen that before.

So just buy your new phone outright, usually a bit cheaper from ebay or amazon or something.

the plans do not appear to be forced at all. although it remains to be seen if these plans will replace the current ones on the website or if they will be listed along side. the fine print also shows other plans may receive bandwidth priority over these new plans which seems to mean that other plans will be available to sign up for besides these.

Ive been out of contract since February on my SERO premium plan. The plan and price is excellent (even beats prepaid to be honest) so I give them a lot of leeway for poor service in various areas but if these plans go away so will I.

My winning bid for the nextel countdown clock was $190 and it was said that is enough to run the site for 10 days. So call it $20 a day at 30 days and i would say $600 is a decent estimation based off that figure.

i guess i tried to raise the bid up by to much. anyways, winner winner chicken dinner. also, my electronic graveyard is just large as it is. someone else can have the phones or you can hold on to them if you want and save the shipping fees and all that.

Why would that mean ads could not be used? If all funds from the ads are devoted / invested to the site then there would be no profit made.

Are there any remaining Sprint 1x areas? If you are connected to 1xRTT chances are you are roaming and will see the little roaming triangle to tell you so. So I suppose why yes the data icon shows 3G, the roaming triangle is also right next to it.

1xRTT is a 3G technology. Speed does not make or break a technology. If I take a cable modem and set the internal traffic caps to that of dial up speeds, it all of a sudden does not mean it is no longer broadband technology running behind it.

i know it used to be if you were using data at all while roaming (1x) a call could not come in because the phone was in a data session. EVDO fixed that. Possibly that is it?

i have the wilson portable unit with the extended antenna. It is okay. i dont use it when driving, just for camping out in no where land.
