  1. Right. All of which are not latency critical apps. Voice over IP depends on latency to operate satisfactorily. Online gaming (Xbox, etc) depends heavily on latency. Streaming netflix does not. it will run without issue as long as throughput is high enough..roughly 2 MBits for a standard def video. Which will work fine on a satellite connection like wild blue or hughesnet.
  2. Are you running "ping" tests all day long on your phone? Care to tell us what users are doing 99% of the time on there phone where it is latency sensitive? Also, your analogy is very poor.
  3. Why couldnt this be maine too...If this happened in maine and Sprint used USCC existing network and towers this would fix the issues that Sprint has with coverage here, outside of cities and towns. I this market is their bread and butter though so maybe another year or two and USCC will be willing to sell. EDIT- Just saw the update by robert, what a bummer.
  4. Every PRL sprint uses provides 3G roaming (1x is a 3G technology). I to use 16006 and get EVDO roaming on Verizon and US cellular as needed....but I am not sure of its affects on LTE.
  5. Yes, in the thread that is said to be an option..but more of a last ditch effort. Was hoping the fix was as simple as checking a few boxes, but I also wonder if this change altered other areas that are unknown. Possibly the factory reset is the safer way to go.
  6. An experimental post over at XDA had some of us cause changes to our photon that we did not anticipate, mainly not being able to revert back. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870916&page=2 Post #20. Doing those steps caused the photon to NOT be able to go back to the "default" settings of which frequencies it is set to use when around the US / World. basically, no auto-roaming. We can fix the issue by using QPST to select the right bands, but no one is sure what the right bands were. Was wondering if someone who has not done this method can take a screenshot of their phone in QPST so we have a baseline of what needs to be selected and not. The tab in QPST is UMTS System. Picture attached for a reference of what we are running for now to at least allow auto roaming in the USA. Thanks and much appreciated.
  7. If the Airave is not connected anywhere "locally", then how far into the network are they connected and why does cell tower provided gps information show a cell tower in NH for me when my phone is connected to the Airave? The airave has to connect somewhere somewhat locally for me to have not been able to make calls after the earthquake. If it was connected to voice servers in Kansas for instance I dont believe this would have happened.
  8. Yep, saw that the other day and was trying to make it over there yesterday to try it but couldnt. Even though it is tagged as 3G only I am hoping they have made further progress. That tower also services a good part of the snooty rich tourists that come here for there vacation homes on the water....although they are all gone home for the year more or less. Will try to get down there soon.
  9. I see about 2.5 MBits with mine. What is the Airave connecting to? Is it just connected to a local tower to your area? My phones GPS that it retrieves from tower information puts me about 40 minutes away at a tower in NH when connected to the Airave. Why is this? Also, whats odd is that when we had the earthquake up here this past week and the lines were jammed, making calls on my airave was also affected. I would have thought that if the Airave was connected to Sprint voice servers in some other part of the country, I would not have been affected as if I was using a tower in the local area.
  10. Sweet! Here i thought out little section of the country (Maine) would be last. Cant wait to see what happens in the coming months. I am surprised they are starting now with winter right on our door step. cant be to much fun working on these towers with the harsh winters.
  11. On my photon Q I had huge battery drain leaving CDMA/4G on so I set it to CDMA only. eHRPD works with the phone on CDMA only. Is that abnormal? Also, I get eHRPD all over Maine. Did physical work on the towers have to be done to get eHRPD working or is that something they can do remotely from somewhere else?
  12. i also lose my 3G connection now and then. A real pain in the ass. Airplane mode on and off fixes it but i shouldnt have to do that.
  13. I dont offload at home in the sense this thread is talking about. I have an Airave so i am offloading everything anyways to the microcell network. I rarely touch my device for anything but email being pulled when I am home either so I really just never bother. For an entire month, I use less than a gig usually..unless i am traveling which is rare.
  14. My Photon Q already has this PRL stock. Do you have something different? I do not see EVDO roaming with it though.
  15. What areas of the country does 56006 have EVDO roaming and on who?
  16. There has been a fix for this issue as per the Sprint discussion board. I have verified it has fixed my MMS problem. You will need your MSL to change a setting, if you dont have it you need to call sprint or use another method to obtain it. It appears some data profile usernames were borked during provisioning Steps to follow: 1. Open your dial pad and dial ##3282# 2. Tap on Data Profile 3. Look at your username, mine ended in ".comom" 4. If yours is obviously wrong (like mine), fix it, save it and then reboot phone. 5. good to go.
  17. Owenssri2, does your plan details show anything about Direct Connect / group Connect? I had this added to my plan after i got my phone activated.
  18. Maybe add a PIN which will take care of purchases in the Google Play store. The free apps, not sure. Maybe tell them there is consequences if the phone is used for non-work related activities? Once the first gets fired for doing it, I bet it will stop.
  19. Okay that is weird. I swear I tried that the other night and it didnt work. Tonight it does. Anyways, cool beans!
  20. I have this MMS issue seemingly connected only to my airave. Once I go onto the normal sprint network it works fine. Roaming is very hit or miss.
  21. Also, any users with this phone..if you login to your sprint account do you see this as a feature listed: Unltd Nationwide Direct Connect Unlimited Group Connect Wondering if the Sprint chat reps didnt change my phone and such over correctly during activation.
  22. Cool that works. So, what do you think could be the problem connected to mobile networks?
  23. *sigh*. Would be to easy if everything just worked. I am unable to receive any MMS message whether roaming, on Sprint or connected to Airave. The notification comes in but i need to press the button that says download, and that still fails. I have auto retrieve for MMS messages enabled. Any others have this problem?
  24. Def. no nationwide EVDO roaming. Decent phone so far though. Would like to learn how to add in EVDO roaming to my PRL though.
