  1. I am dangerously close to deciding to stay up until midnight to order my 64g iP6+.
  2. Anyone know when Apple stores will have these new phones available to play with? Will they have them before release day? I considered pre-ordering, but I really want to hold one in my hand before plunking down money.
  3. I knew it was not possible yet - but I held out hope until right now that they would announce non-invasive glucose monitoring through the Apple Watch. As a Type1 diabetic - it would have been HUGE for me - but the technology just isnt there yet. Already looking forward to 2 years from now.
  4. Cancel that. Stream is now back down for me.
  5. Stream is back now for me. Agree with the fact that it is silly that there are largely problems with the stream. Sort of shitty.
  6. Stream is back down for me now.
  7. Sorry, I should have been more clear. I knew Tmobile wifi calling was 'turned on' in one of the IOS 8 Beta's. I was just specifically wondering if anyone had any new news regarding Sprint and wifi-calling with IOS8. Thanks.
  8. Bump. Anybody have any inside info on whether or not Sprint will Iphone WIFI calling?
  9. With Sprints new CCA/RRPP agreements, is this needed? I mean - there are USCC towers in nearly every town in this area, but Sprint's agreement with Illinois Valley Cellular really would make it largely unnecessary for any USCC action in this area. Buuuuut - with that being said - Sprint did already snatch up the USCC Spectrum in central Illinois, so maybe it's just a matter of time... ? Interesting arguments from both sides. I am literally playing devils advocate with myself. hah!
  10. This whole CCA/RRPP thing is extremely exciting to me. As a guy who travels every week for work, but technically has home in a 'dead zone' for Sprint - this could be awesome. Luckily, Illinois Valley Cellular towers in our area are well placed - and would provide excellent coverage in areas (like the town in live in) where there is no close Sprint tower. My concern, however, is the lack of technological improvement on the IVC side of things. Fairly certain there is nowhere NEAR the backhaul capacity as a Sprint NV site, and at least currently, IVC is a 'slow' 3g provider at best. Its my understanding that at some level, these smaller carriers could be allowed to broadcast on Sprints spectrum holdings, but I am super interested to see where IVC takes this. I am sure Sprint has done their homework - but it would be a loss for Sprint to offer 'nationwide LTE coverage' for IVC customers, whereas IVC's end of the deal is/would be far less positive - only providing 3G (at best) coverage for Sprint customers in small towns in central/northern Illinois with no 'native' Sprint coverage. Again - super interested to see how things all shake out, but I'm a greedy fella. I want to see IVC 'rebuild' their towers with fiber backhaul and allow Sprint customers to roam LTE 'natively.'
  11. The unfortunate side effect of this... If you have a rural CCA carrier (ahem... Illinois Valley Cellular) which does not currently have a LTE network. Sprint also does not offer LTE in a chunk of this area (GMO sites, spaced too far apart, etc.) I predict that IVC will never go the route of creating their own LTE network - rather 'waiting' on Sprint to do full-build towers around here - which seems like will never happen. I can see that this alliance is a GOOD thing, but I'm worried that it may stymie improvements in the covered areas from either side. Is my concern valid?
  12. The issue is really for us folks in rural areas. Literally live on the FRINGE of PCS coverage, so iPhones will try to latch onto that instead of the 800mhz (which presumably) would have stronger signal.
  13. Bump. Related post... Is Sprint pushing new PRL's to iphones in areas where CDMA 800 has been activated?
  14. https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/NetworkingInternet/Reference/CoreTelephonyFrameworkReference/_index.html There is the info for Core Telephony Framework. Would really like to start mapping with my iphone!
  15. There is still a fairly big number of folks on Illinois Valley Cellular around here. Off the cuff guessing would have me guess market share in this zip code is ~ 30% Verizon, 25% IVC, 20% AT&T, 15% Sprint, 10% US Cellular. Again - thats just a guess based off of folks who I know in town - I am by no means a market research guy. All I was thinking about before was the boost for Sprint if they could gain with subs from the US Cellular crowd - I had never even considered the pickup they would possibly get from picking up IVC subs. Most IVC customers are old folks, or farmers. They want reliable voice service that works outside of town. Dear Sprint - put a tower up here with 3 sectors that aim NNE, SE, and W. Make it a full build site with 800 & LTE. This would make everyone in town happy, pick up US Cellular subscribers, and ADVERTISE to the farm crowd and manufacturing facilities, and rip some subs from the IVC grips. I understand the NV push, but it feels like around here they are just trying to stop some of the bleeding. We need some bags of blood and a transfusion!
  16. Yep... agree. I'm not suggesting that Sprint plops equipment on every USCC tower in the affected areas. There is actually a fair amount of overlap when it comes to USCC and Sprint in this this general area, but my specific area/zip code is one that is seriously lacking. Do I think Sprint would be able to grow subs if they placed Equipment on a tower here? Absolutely. Do I think sprint would be able to retain subs who are considering jumping ship to a different provider? Absolutely. I obviously cant place any hard numbers on them (market research is not my specialty) - but I do think Sprint could gain some traction here if they actually had reliable service. I'll continue to sit here and cross my fingers and complain on a weekly basis to Sprint - and hope to hell they come through.
  17. Yes, I am positive. The 3 towers in question have registrations & permits that say: Owner Company: UNITED STATES CELLULAR CORPORATION Contact: Not Recorded Phone: **register_for_full_phone** Email: **register_for_full_email**@USCELLULAR.COM Attn: RENEE MAZUR - 8831534 MW/JJ Address: 8410 W. BRYN MAWR AVE #700 CHICAGO, IL, 60631 Your last few sentences that say "Regardless, any infrastructure that can be sold will be sold. The rest may be written off." is exactly what I presumed and hoped would happen. The other two big players (VZW/ATT) already have tower space here, so the hope was that if enough people call Sprint and push the issue - they would hopefully work, at minimum, to lease space on the US Cellular tower... who could then sell the tower to American Tower or SBA Towers.
  18. As I am in Central IL, we are in an area where Sprint purchased 'spectrum' from USC. As I understand it, USC customers in this area were more or less told that they would need to switch providers. We are fairly rural here. 2-3 years back, USC put up a tower in nearly every down in this area. These are actual USC towers and not owned by one of the tower companies. My question is: Will USC service simply be 'stopped' in this area? If so, what will they do with the towers? My home is located in a town without a Sprint tower, but has a USC tower. Multiple Sprint subscribers here have called to complain and express the need for a Sprint tower here, and the last few that have called have suggested the USC tower (as they were presuming USC would no longer be needing it.) Each call (from what I am told) had the Sprint rep acting very interested - actually asking for the exact street address and/or GPS coordinates of the USC tower location. Everyone has read the numerous press releases and stuff regarding the USC/Sprint deal, and they generally all say that Sprint is not aquiring the towers, and if that is the case... WTF is USC going to do with the towers?
  19. Donated again after my first donation expired. Thanks again to everyone involved in making this site what it is! Zach
  20. Posted in the 'In Progress' thread, but the site in Chenoa IL had new panels being hoisted up last week, and the tower just north of Forrest IL now has the new Samsung NV cabinets on it. Although my phone grabs the Forrest IL tower 100% of the time, I think I am even more excited about Bloomington getting the upgrades. It is still absolutely terrible down there. The hard part is going to be seeing all of the new equipment, but having them not light up 4G or 800mhz for who knows how long.
  21. Bump - same question. Let some of us jailbroke iphone guys help you out!
  22. Bad deal when it is impossible sometimes to even get a text message out. If you are leaving town (heading north on Veterans Parkway) - the data speeds are awesome once you get past Furniture Row/Menards. I have actually sat in the Menards parking lot and got 600-800kb down with my phone still hanging on to the tower in Lexington. As soon as I get out of the parking lot (before I cross Ft Jesse,) it grabs some tower in Blono that I am assuming is majorly overloaded. Even farther north - near Chenoa - still on 3g, I have seen 1mb down! Also saw that the tower that is nearest me (CH03IP807) is OEM'ed Samsung. I am about 6-7 miles away - will be interesting to see if/when they light up LTE here if I can get that near my house!
  23. Bloomington/Normal is still garbage. Coming in to town on Veterans Parkway has things die once you get past Menards/Home Depot.
