  1. Most of the deployments have been GMO sites so far. Full build sites just haven't gone to mainstream acceptance yet. But I believe that once backhaul deployment is going full steam, we will see a mass load of 4G acceptances in the LCV, and I believe that it'll start really soon.
  2. It will take a year to deploy the whole area with LTE. Individual sites should start to go online in Fresno by the end of this month/early September. Bakersfield should start going live with LTE sometime this month or as late as next month. 2 of the 4 sites in Visalia have already received their new panels and RRU's. 1 site is waiting for backhaul work to start, not sure about the other one though.
  3. Ericsson and NSN's RRU's don't support WiMax. It's too bad we don't have vendor lists for Clearwire LTE, then we'd know who has what. My guess is Samsung handled all the initial TDD-LTE deployments.
  4. Work should be starting in the Fresno area within the next month. Work will continue on to early next year with final completion around the summer time.
  5. When I'm working I can't use my phone as much, but where I usually work, my phone is in a really weak signal area, so battery life really suffers badly, and I usually charge my phone at the customers house/business while I'm working.
  6. Wow. I didn't realize how bad the batteries can get.
  7. Oh. I see what you mean now. If you still have your EVO LTE, how is the battery life now compared to a year ago when it first came out in terms of capacity left on it?
  8. I'm specifically talking about wear and tear on the battery over the span of a contract, and it was still 85% a year and a half after I bought it.
  9. I haven't. My Galaxy Nexus sucked so bad for battery life. My Evo Shift did too, and my Viper. But my iPhone 3GS had about 85% usable battery life when I retired it in 2011 and switched to Sprint from at&stinks.
  10. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4099-lg-g2-the-first-sprint-tri-band-lte-handset-was-lg-optimus-g2/ And yes, the FCC cleared it. It's model number is LS-980
  11. Glad to hear we have another Fresno tower watcher. And you're welcome for the answer I could give.
  12. My iPhone 3GS still has over 50% usability on the original battery 4 years after the fact. Fixed batteries seem to do much better than user replaceable batteries in most of the tests I have done.
  13. Matthew would have to answer #1 as he's in contact with Fresno directly. But for #2, It can vary from a day to 6 months, and sometimes more. Some jurisdictions are worse when it comes to approving permits, and some are very nice. And then you have bozo's who are too stupid to include all the paperwork, don't finish it completely, submit wrong supporting paperwork with some site work permits. It just varies. Edit: to S4GRU. We hope you enjoy the content that has been posted here. If you would like to, we have a map of the permits that have been issued for the Lower Central Valley Network Vision upgrades in our Sponsors section. 14. He hasn't bought all the phones, just most of them.
  15. You are right, I can't blame them entirely. But they can still turn on 800 CDMA Voice in the whole entire Phoenix market, but not a single tower outside of the IBEZ in AZ has been 800 Voice accepted. And no towers in the Vegas market have been 800 Voice accepted either, despite the fact that they have been testing it since earlier this year (thanks to digiblur's testing PRL in the Sponsor's section, and his own personal testing during his trip to Vegas).
  16. When I got to use the LG OG at the Sprint Store right after it was released, I said that it was a very nice phone. I was impressed, more so than the LG Viper that LG wasted their time releasing. They could have done better for their first Sprint LTE phone, and the Optimus G should have been the first.
  17. Ah, but you are wrong about that. This was posted yesterday at phonenews.com http://www.phonenews.com/straighttalk-att-sim-cards-return-to-online-store-in-select-markets-23215/
  18. Shentel must have bought all their equipment ahead of Sprint. I don't know. And I didn't say poor, I said too many projects. I feel they may have over-extended themselves seeing how they hired another company to build their 800RRU for them. (I have proof too.) They built their own PCS RRU, so I don't know what has gone wrong in their areas of Network Vision.
  19. Historically, my phone has done better for battery life in an LTE area than an EVDO area. But my phone doesn't constantly scan for LTE and kill my battery life, my phone scans for a better EVDO signal to attach to, but never finds it when needed because there is too much to interfere in between me and the local Sprint site to get a better signal.
  20. From what I hear, you just got lucky. Arizona has been a blunder as far as everyone is concerned. They haven't done too bad for Vegas deployment, and they have now hired another contractor to speed Vegas installations, but their 800 RRU updated with 800 LTE compatibility was the last of the 3 Network Vision vendors. I think they may have too many projects going worldwide.
  21. You'd be surprised. Just put a weather cover over it like what is mounted in Alcatel Lucent desert areas, and slap it on the tower, and you are good to go, lol. This may be the reason that Alcatel Lucent (ALU) never released a TD LTE RRU. I watched and watched, and ALU just never released. Samsung built hybrids, and Ericsson built a TD-LTE RRU though.
  22. If they dropped the price to $100 I would buy one, strap a rope around it, set on top of a 20' tall building, and tie the other end of the rope to the back of a truck, and yank that thing off to see how it splats on the ground! Hahahaha
  23. I don't know. I never read anything saying that they can't be used as RRU's on the tower. I think it would be better if they are mounted on the tower though.
